My dad once told me a story about scent leaf, a story our ancestors believed, that this humble leaf could bring someone back to life.
Whether legend or oral tradition, the story stayed with me. And beyond the myth, scent leaf, also called Nchanwu, is still deeply valued today for its rich aroma, cultural importance, and promising studied properties.
It is widely used in cooking and appreciated for benefits such as:
supporting digestion
helping with cough and breathing comfort
showing antimicrobial potential
showing anti-inflammatory potential
adding fresh flavor and aroma to dishes like pepper soup, beans, and rice
Legend gave it fame. Daily living gave it purpose. 🌿
