Popular TikTok star Peller has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his recent "001" comment that sparked heated reactions across social media.
Speaking in a follow-up statement, Peller insisted that his words were misunderstood. According to him, he never intended to disrespect Afrobeats superstar Davido or reduce the significance of the "001" title many fans associate with the singer.
Explaining his stance, Peller said:
> "How Davido name take be user? Anybody can be 001 in what they are good at. I said some people are users, and if someone is exceptional in what they do, they can be 001 in that field. Davido is 001 in music."
The clarification comes after many Nigerians criticized him for referring to Davido as a "user" while defending his decision to invite him to his upcoming wedding. The statement quickly went viral, with fans accusing Peller of disrespecting one of Nigeria's biggest music stars.
Peller, however, maintained that his point was simple: "001" is not exclusive to one person in every aspect of life. In his view, the title simply represents excellence. While Davido is undoubtedly "001" in music, he believes other people can also be "001" in their own professions or areas of expertise.
His explanation has divided opinions online. Some social media users say his clarification makes sense and that he was merely speaking in general terms. Others argue that his choice of words created the confusion in the first place and that he should have been more careful, especially when mentioning Davido.
