I will never understand why some people run off to propose and marry someone else without ending their current relationship, whether there was a problem in the already existing relationship or not.
I was recently in a store to pick up an item and while checking the shelf for what I wanted, a cleaner was conversing with her colleague, a store attendant. Their voices weren't low so it was easy to eavesdrop. As the "aproko" that I am, I kept strolling up and down the aisle pretending to be searching shelves whereas my ears dey their gist.
Apparently, the cleaner was narrating that her boyfriend of three years, who she was with some weeks ago, has proposed to another lady and still leading her on. Store attendant "kukuma" carry hand put for head๐คฃ
How did she find out?
The mother of the lady who was proposed to told her mum when they met in the market. Apparently, all three of them are from a small community in the North. They'll be getting married in March but the guy is inviting her home for Easter๐ค๐ค
I could hear the pain in her voice as she narrated the story and it felt really sad. Well, I left to get other things. As I was approaching the counter, I saw her again. This time, alone, doing her job. So I stopped and said, "Hey young lady, I'm sorry but I heard what you told your friend about your boyfriend".
She put up a fake smile starring at the floor." I continued, I'm so sorry that happened to you but I want you to let it go. It's really hard but see it as a form of freedom. She sniffed to hold back tears. Can I give you a hug? I asked. She nods affirmatively and I hugged her tightly, she says "thank you Ma" then I proceeded to pay.
I do not know her, never met her but it dropped in my heart to do what I did when I did it and trust me, it felt good๐ In today's world, empathy has become scarce whereas, it doesn't ANYTHING to show empathy.
