Troops from Uganda and South Sudan got into a fight along their shared border, leaving at least four dead, a Ugandan military official said Wednesday, because apparently, they couldn't agree on who owned what land.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Three South Sudanese soldiers were shot dead by Ugandan forces after one of their own soldiers got killed on Monday, said Maj. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, spokesperson for the Ugandan military. But Wani Jackson Mule, a local official in South Sudan's Central Equatoria state, said he received the bodies of five soldiers.

The firefight occurred in a remote part of northwestern Uganda, known as West Nile, when South Sudanese soldiers crossed further into Ugandan territory, set up camp and refused to leave, according to Kulayigye.

โ€œWe had to apply force,โ€ he said.

Malian Leader Receives the Mali-Russia Joint Intergovernmental Commission

His Excellency General Assimi GOรTA, President of the Transition and Head of State, granted an audience this Tuesday, July 29, 2025, with the members of the Mali-Russia Joint Intergovernmental Commission.

This audience, which took place on the sidelines of the first session of the Joint Commission, being held in Bamako and one month after the Head of State's visit to Russia, rightly reflects the excellent relations between the two countries.

This meeting with President GOรTA aimed to take stock of the progress of the Commission's work and the implementation of the two Heads of State's guidelines. On this occasion, the members of the Russian delegation, in consultation with their Malian counterparts, presented the final structure of the Commission, confirming that work has effectively begun. Mr. Sergei Tsivilev, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, welcomed the speed with which the commission was established.

"We informed His Excellency of the progress of the commission's work, with the creation of seven subcommittees, responsible for the energy, education, scientific research and higher education, health, and mining sectors, to effectively address the various concerns.

The President instructed us to do everything possible to overcome the difficulties and maintain the sustained pace of work," he said. For his part, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Alousseini Sanou, explained the strategic scope of this joint commission for the economic development of our country. "This first working session allowed us to establish a real work plan for current and future projects between our two countries.

It is important to maintain this momentum to achieve convincing results for the benefit of our two peoples," he emphasized. The Head of State welcomed the successful conduct of this first working session. He urged both parties to continue efforts to achieve concrete results and strengthen strategic partnership ties for the benefit of our populations.

Niger signs nuclear deal with Russia

Niger and Russia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in civilian nuclear use and uranium mining.

The agreement was signed on Monday following talks between a Russian delegation and Nigerโ€™s leader General Abdourahamane Tiani in Niamey, according to Nigerโ€™s state news agency, ANP.

โ€œWe have agreed to train national managers who will be able to work in our areas of intervention such as (energy, agriculture, health, education), and we will also prepare engineers from the start of their studies, so that they can continue their studies at universities in the Russian Federation,โ€ the news agency quoted Russiaโ€™s Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev, who led the delegation, as saying.

โ€œWe have seen many presentations on the possibilities that are present in Niger and at the moment our teams are discussing how we can implement this potential that exists here in Niger,โ€ Tsivilev said.

โ€œWe must work on the basis of mutual trust, mutual respect, and greater mutual benefit,โ€ the Russian official added.

Some Female Pilots and Captains across Africa

Several remarkable women have broken barriers and achieved milestones as pilots in Africa, challenging traditional gender roles in aviation. These include Asli Hassan Abade, the first female military pilot in Somalia and Africa, and Irene Koki Mutungi, Kenya's first female Dreamliner captain. Other notable figures include Asnath Mahapa, the first female commercial pilot in South Africa, and Chinyere Kalu, the first Nigerian female pilot. These women have paved the way for future generations of female aviators on the continent.

Most of Muammar Gaddafi's attire were branded with the map of Africa.

Some of his attire were branded with images of historical African revolutionary leaders like Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyerere, Patrice Lumumba, Kwame Nkrumah, Kenneth Kaunda among others.

Gaddafi was betrayed by African leaders, westerners came to Africa to take him out and all African countries were minding their business, for someone who put Africa first and fought for Africa freedom for years.

Ghana adds two non-African countries to visa-free list in push for global ties

Ghana's Parliament approved visa waiver agreements with Mozambique, Sรฃo Tomรฉ and Prรญncipe, Colombia, and the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The visa waivers apply to holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports and aim to foster developmental partnerships.

The policy aligns with Ghana's continuing commitment to regional and global integration and mobility enhancements.

Ghana ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ approved visa-free access for Colombia, Dominica, Mozambique, and Sรฃo Tomรฉ on 26 July 2025, expanding its global partnerships. This move deepens diplomatic ties beyond Africa and promotes trade, tourism, and cooperation, reinforcing Ghanaโ€™s commitment to open-border policies and positioning it as a key player in international mobility and South-South relations.
