Malian Leader Receives the Mali-Russia Joint Intergovernmental Commission
His Excellency General Assimi GOรTA, President of the Transition and Head of State, granted an audience this Tuesday, July 29, 2025, with the members of the Mali-Russia Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
This audience, which took place on the sidelines of the first session of the Joint Commission, being held in Bamako and one month after the Head of State's visit to Russia, rightly reflects the excellent relations between the two countries.
This meeting with President GOรTA aimed to take stock of the progress of the Commission's work and the implementation of the two Heads of State's guidelines. On this occasion, the members of the Russian delegation, in consultation with their Malian counterparts, presented the final structure of the Commission, confirming that work has effectively begun. Mr. Sergei Tsivilev, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, welcomed the speed with which the commission was established.
"We informed His Excellency of the progress of the commission's work, with the creation of seven subcommittees, responsible for the energy, education, scientific research and higher education, health, and mining sectors, to effectively address the various concerns.
The President instructed us to do everything possible to overcome the difficulties and maintain the sustained pace of work," he said. For his part, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Alousseini Sanou, explained the strategic scope of this joint commission for the economic development of our country. "This first working session allowed us to establish a real work plan for current and future projects between our two countries.
It is important to maintain this momentum to achieve convincing results for the benefit of our two peoples," he emphasized. The Head of State welcomed the successful conduct of this first working session. He urged both parties to continue efforts to achieve concrete results and strengthen strategic partnership ties for the benefit of our populations.
