The attackers, suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group, set ablaze mosques operational vehicles, the checkpoint building, and other critical facilities,

Three immigration personnel were killed in the attack, which has heightened fear and tension among residents of border communities. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation, with relevant security agencies on the case .

This latest attack is part of a growing pattern of violence by terrorist groups along Nigeria's northern borders. The NIS has assured the public that efforts are being intensified to track down escaping elements and deny them freedom of movement .

The attack on the Bakin Ruwa checkpoint is a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges facing Nigeria, with bandits and terrorists targeting security formations and civilians alike,

Nigerian Troops Thwart Massive Terrorist Attack by Over 300 Militants on Chibok Communities

In a daring operation, troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully foiled a midnight attack on Chibok communities in Borno State. Over 300 terrorists launched a coordinated attack from multiple fronts around 2:50 a.m., but the soldiers of the 28 Task Force Brigade were on high alert and quickly responded to the threat.

The fierce firefight lasted for over two hours, with the soldiers holding their ground firmly and preventing the terrorists from breaching the security of the adjoining towns. As dawn broke, the terrorists retreated in disarray towards the Azir axis into the Sambisa Forest, attempting to cross the Main Supply Route Damboa-Biu.

Undeterred, the 25 Brigade was tasked to occupy ambush positions ahead of Azir Bridge to intercept the fleeing terrorists, guided by a Nigerian Army Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI deployed a Super Tucano aircraft, which supported the ground troops as they closed in on the terrorists. The terrorists dispersed, and troops disrupted their withdrawal.

The operation was a testament to the combat readiness and professionalism of the troops, with no casualties or equipment lost on the Nigerian Army side. The Nigerian Army assures the public that efforts are being intensified to track down escaping elements and deny them freedom of movement, with exploitation operations ongoing in and around Chibok.

The attack is believed to be carried out by ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists, and the Nigerian Army's swift response has dealt a significant blow to their nefarious plans. The success of the operation is a credit to the bravery and dedication of the Nigerian troops, who continue to put their lives on the line to protect the nation.
