Let’s be honest—our natural hair can be difficult to handle sometimes. You apply oil, butter, leave-in… and it just sits on top like “abeg, shift.” Especially if you have low porosity hair (like me 🙋🏾‍♀️), where products struggle to pe*****te. That’s where steaming comes in like a lifesaver!

Hair steaming is basically giving your hair a warm spa treatment. With the help of a steaming cap, gentle heat opens up your hair cuticles, allowing all those yummy nutrients from your oils, conditioners, and herbs to sink deep inside the strands. No more surface-level moisturization—this is hydration that goes straight to the roots.

👉 Benefits of steaming? Plenty!

Moisture boost: Your hair stays softer and hydrated for longer.

Better product absorption: Those expensive oils and deep conditioners? They finally do their job well.

Less breakage: Hydrated hair is elastic hair, and elastic hair breaks less.

Scalp therapy: The heat also soothes your scalp, improves blood flow, and supports hair growth.

And the best part? You don’t need to go to a salon every time. Your steaming cap is your best friend. Just apply your deep conditioner or herbal mask, wear your cap, plug it in, and let it work its magic for 20–30 minutes while you relax, scroll your phone, or sip zobo.

At the end of the day, steaming is not just “extra work.” It’s an investment in your natural hair health. Because let’s face it, if our hair could talk, it would say: “Please, gimme steam abeg—I deserve this luxury!”

When most of us hear turmeric, we instantly think about curry, jollof seasoning, or that yellowish spice our mums keep somewhere in the kitchen cupboard. But my dear, turmeric is not just for spicing food — it’s a hidden gem for your natural hair too.

So, what exactly does this golden powder do for your hair?

Fights Dandruff and Itchy Scalp
Turmeric has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal powers. Translation? If your scalp itches or you’re battling dandruff flakes that embarrass you in public, turmeric can help calm things down and keep your scalp fresh and healthy.

Stimulates Hair Growth
Because it improves blood circulation on the scalp, turmeric gives your hair follicles that extra “wake up” call. Think of it as sending small energy drinks to your roots, encouraging them to grow stronger and faster.

Reduces Hair Loss
If you’ve been noticing too much shedding, turmeric is like a gentle guard. It strengthens hair follicles from the root, making them less likely to break or fall off unnecessarily.

Adds Natural Shine
That yellow glow isn’t just for looks. When you mix turmeric in DIY hair masks with oils like coconut or aloe vera gel, it helps your strands shine brighter and look healthier.

👉Before you start, be aware that turmeric can stain (that yellow mark na stubborn something), so mix it properly with oils, butters, or conditioners, and don’t leave it sitting on your hair too long.

At the end of the day, turmeric is more than just a kitchen spice — it’s a natural healer for your hair and scalp. Simple, effective, and affordable. Next time you’re whipping up your DIY mask, add a little pinch of turmeric and let your hair sip golden goodness. ✨

Yesterday, Hilda Baci did it again! She broke the world record of cooking the largest pot of Jollof rice, and as I’m typing this, some people are [probably still at the venue scraping her giant pot of jollof rice🔥. But while the whole world is talking about her record, me I couldn’t help but notice one small detail—her hair. And of course, that's the first thing I notice about people.🙃

Yes oh, Hilda showed up with our signature all-back cornrows. And honestly? That was the smartest move she could have made. Imagine standing over hot firewood pots, stirring non-stop, with sweat dripping and steam rising. The last thing you need is hair falling into your face—or worse, entering somebody’s food. Abeg, nobody wants “hair flavor” in their jollof! 😂

This is where hygiene comes in. One golden rule of food safety is to keep the cook clean and the hair out of the way. And Hilda nailed it, including her team. That all-back style kept her scalp cool under all that heat, made it super easy for her to wear a hair net later, and most importantly, it kept the food safe. No distractions, no flying braids, no wahala.👍

And let’s not pretend, the style looked chic too. Simple, cultural, and very “I came here to focus and deliver.” Sometimes, the best styles aren’t the loudest—they’re the neatest.

So, apart from giving us a record-breaking large pot of Nigerian jollof rice, Hilda also dropped a subtle lesson, which is when it comes to cooking, hygiene is just as important as taste. Clean kitchen, clean cook, delicious food. That’s the combo.
At the end of the day, her hairstyle wasn’t just about beauty—it was about focus, discipline, and respect for the people eating her food.

Now that’s how you serve looks and jollof rice at the same time. ✨

Why Your Natural Hair Needs Deep Conditioning with Avocado Pears ✨

Let me tell you, one of the best decisions I ever made for my 4C hair was to stop skipping deep conditioning. Natural hair, especially our kinky textures, thrives on moisture and strength. And guess what? Ripe avocado pear is one of the most powerful natural deep conditioners you can ever try.

This is an example of my hair during and after deep conditioning. The difference speaks louder than I can! Before, the hair looked a bit thirsty and dry, but after? Soft, shiny, and so much easier to manage.

Avocado is packed with vitamins A, D, and E, plus natural oils that go straight into your strands, restoring moisture and reducing breakage. When I blend mine, I usually add my ayurvedic herbs—amla, henna, bhringraj, shikakai—plus aloe vera gel and nourishing oils like argan, coconut, or olive oil. The mix turns into a smooth, creamy paste that my hair just drinks up.

My routine is simple: after shampooing, I apply this paste generously, cover with a shower cap, and let it sit for about 30 minutes. The result? Softer, stronger hair that doesn’t snap at the slightest touch. 💆🏾‍♀️

Deep conditioning isn’t just a fancy step—it’s the real foundation for retaining length and keeping your coils healthy. If you want your natural hair to flourish, make it a habit. Your strands will thank you every single wash day. 🙌🏾

So tell me—when last did you deep condition your hair? Maybe it’s time to give your crown that avocado love. 🥑

When this my honourable customer sat on my chair, the first thing I noticed was her bleached hair. You know how bleaching sometimes makes people shy away from rocking their natural hair? But me, I just saw opportunity. I said to myself, “This hair deserves a style that will celebrate it, not hide it.”

So, I got to work. I carefully twisted her strands and decided to add a little artistry by the side — a sleek, creative pattern that gave the style its own unique signature. And the best part? It was done completely with her natural hair. No attachments, no extra hair — just her own crown, styled to shine.

By the time I was done, she looked in the mirror and couldn’t stop smiling. That’s the joy for me as a stylist — seeing how a simple but thoughtful hairstyle can boost someone’s confidence, even on bleached hair that many people think is “hard to manage.”

Sometimes, it’s not about covering up. It’s about bringing out the beauty that’s already there. And trust me, her natural hair came out looking every bit as fabulous as it should. ✨

Let me just confess — one of the best things I ever started doing for my hair is making my own DIY deep conditioner. No, it’s not as complicated as it sounds, and trust me, my hair has been thanking me ever since!

Sometimes I use ripe banana, other times I go for ripe avocado pear (depending on which one is in my kitchen at the time 😅). Both are super rich in vitamins and nutrients that soften and nourish the hair, and when I say my 4C strands soak it all up? Ehn, it’s like giving my hair a buffet!

But I don’t stop there. I take it up a notch with some of my favorite Ayurvedic herbs — amla powder, henna, bhringraj, shikakai, and fresh aloe vera gel. I blend everything into a smooth, creamy paste with oils like argan oil, coconut oil, or olive oil. The result? A power-packed conditioner that is both strengthening and moisturizing.

After shampooing, I apply this goodness generously to my hair, cover with a shower cap, and let it sit for about 30 minutes. That’s when the magic happens — my strands come out softer, stronger, and with a shine that makes me smile at the mirror.

Doing this every wash day has completely changed the game for me. My kinky 4C texture is now way easier to manage, tangles are fewer, and the scary breakage that used to frustrate me? Almost gone! Instead, I’m seeing healthier growth and fuller strands.

Sometimes, the secret is not in expensive products, but in creating your own little kitchen miracle. And believe me, my hair agrees!

Deep conditioning is the best remedy to soften your natural hair instead of relaxing it.👌

Sometimes, the journey of natural hair can feel overwhelming — the shrinkage, the tangles, the breakage. There were days I honestly wanted to just give up, grab a relaxer, and “start afresh.” But then, I’d see her… and somehow, I’d find the strength to keep going.

This beauty right here, rocking her new hairstyle with so much grace and confidence, is one of my biggest inspirations on this natural hair journey. Two years ago, when I was on the edge of quitting, she reminded me through her style, her hair care, and her consistency that natural hair is more than just hair — it’s identity, it’s patience, it’s art.

And look at this simple yet stunning style — two chunky twists, sleek parts, and those wooden beads at the tips. It’s giving elegance without stress, protective yet stylish, and a reminder that natural hair doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful.

She’s proof that with love, care, and consistency, natural hair will thrive. Every time I see her, I’m reminded that this journey is worth it. Because of her, I didn’t give up. Because of her, I’m still embracing my crown today.

So here’s me saying thank you — for inspiring me, and for showing that natural hair can be versatile, classy, and unapologetically beautiful. 💕
