Bauchi Governor Mourns Renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi (1923–2025)
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the globally respected Tijjaniyya leader and Qur’anic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who died in the early hours of Thursday, 27th November 2025, at the age of 102.
In a heartfelt condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor described the late cleric as:
“A towering figure in Islamic scholarship, a man of unparalleled humility, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to Allah and humanity.”
Governor Mohammed praised Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s lifelong dedication to:
- Teaching and spreading the Holy Qur’an
- Establishing Islamic schools across Nigeria and West Africa
- Producing thousands of Huffaz (Qur’an memorizers)
- Promoting peace, tolerance, and moral discipline
“His voice was a beacon of unity among Muslims and a bridge of understanding with people of other faiths. His legacy in theology, jurisprudence, and spiritual guidance will continue to inspire generations,” the statement read.
The governor assured that the Bauchi State Government will sustain support for the late Sheikh’s educational institutions and ideals.
He prayed:
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, grant him the highest rank in Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, students, followers, and the entire Ummah the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
