Alleged homicide: I spent N60m on Ummukulsum because I loved her – Chinese national tells Kano court

A Chinese National, Frank Geng-Quangrong, 47, on Wednesday, told a Kano High Court that he spent over N60 million on his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani,22.

Frank, who lives at Railway Quarters Kano is standing trial for the alleged murder of his girlfriend Ummukulsum, an offence contrary to Section 221(b) of the Penal Code.

The defendant led in evidence by his counsel, Mr Muhammad Dan’azumi, said he is a Muslim, an international trader and a Marketer at BBY Textiles Kwari Market Kano.

“In June 2020 Ummukulsum got my phone number from her friend and called to tell me that she loves me, and by the grace of God, she will marry me.

“We started our relationship in July 2020 and she started asking for money. I gave her all she wanted because I loved her.

” I transferred over N60 million to her GT Bank account, N18 million for her to start a business, N4 million house and N6 million for University education among others.

“Whenever I go to pick her up for dinner at home her mum always welcomes me with open arms,” he said.

Frank told the court that in February 2022, the deceased married someone else.

”I was heartbroken and disappointed so I relocated to Abuja.

“She kept calling me and chatting with me on Whatsapp and continued demanding money.

“Ummukulsum later told me she was divorced and asked me to come back to her and promised to marry me for the second time.

He said on Sept.13, 2022 Ummukulsum asked for money to continue her house project in Abuja.

He said he told her that he does not have the money and she got very angry with him and stopped taking his calls.

“She thought I was broke that was why I don’t want to spend much money on her like before.

”She told me that she has found a new love and later sent her picture with the new lover on my WhatsApp which provoked me,” he told the court.

NAN reports that on Dec.23, 2022, the court had ordered the recall of Ummukulsum’s mother (Pw1), police constable(Pw6) and Chief Medical Officer, for re-cross examination.

Earlier, the defence counsel, Dan’azumi, led in evidence asked Fatima Zubairu (Pw1) the deceased mother if she took part in performing the funeral rights of her daughter.

“Did anyone tell you the kind of injury she sustained on her body”

Pw1 said she did not take it but was told she had 11 cuts on her body.

Dan’azumi also asked the police constable, Aminu Halilu (Pw2), if he has ever seen exhibit 1( knife used in committing the offence).

“Can you remember the date you came across this exhibit? Did you recover it at the scene and were there blood stains on it?”

Pw6 “yes I saw exhibit 1 on Sept.17, someone brought it to the station on our way to the SCID there was a stain of blood and visited the crime scene before I received the knife.

“I did not recover anything at the scene,” he said.

The Prosecutor, who is also the Attorney General of Kano State, Musa Abdullahi-Lawan, alleged that the defendant on Sept.16, 2022, stabbed the deceased with a knife in her house at Janbulo quarters Kano.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji, adjourned the matter until Jan.12, for the continuation of the defence.

I love the beauty, reverence, respect and of course, importance, accorded the Benin traditional institution. It's so revered, that there's a saying that 'Oba Nor they travel' In other words, the Oba does not need to leave his palace for anything what so ever.

Whatever he needs or whowever wants to see him will come to him, in his palace. What respect! And true to that, each time any government official, politician, or even a sitting president travels to Benin for whatever function must as part of his itinerary and a mark of respect pay homage to the Oba of Benin.

The Governor of Edo State, despite all his so-called powers of state cannot dare to alter the standard. Even Oshimohle in all his rascality didn't dare alter the Benin Traditional Council and its order, neither did previous governments.

There was a time, then Military administrator, Mike Onyerugbulem or so, attempted to dethrone then Oba of Benin, Oba Erediuwa. Time fails me now to tell you the whole story. But he paid dearly for it. And I learnt he even apologised afterwards.

But today, we have a governor, who by happenstance, got into office, and everyone is terrorized, including revered traditional authorities. And as bad as it has got, a Royal father's stool is being threatened!!

What a shame!!

As many of you who complain of the long queues while trying to collect your PVCs, and as a result, use that excuse to refuse to go get it, you need to have patience and courage.
Or would you rather queue up for fuel, salaries, transportation vehicles that are not even provided, poor hospital environment, pensions, school enrolments, JAMB registrations, NYSC program, and the list is endless...
Make effort to get your PVCs. The elections are upon us! God bless Nigeria.

06/01/2023

What's up guys, remember the 2023 elections are just weeks away. If you haven't collected your PVC, make sure you do that ASAP. The reason is simple : add 8 years to your current age, and see how old you'll be, by the time the next wrong government finds it's way into office.

Now that you know, make sure you get it, and vote your conscience, and this time around, be sure you know exactly what you are doing because this just might be the only chance you have got left, before the next generation takes over.
God bless Nigeria!

A man shot and killed his family of seven, including five children, then turned the gun on himself after his wife filed for divorce, US officials said on Thursday.

Police in the small Utah settlement of Enoch City found eight bodies — one of them that of a four-year-old — after being called by friends and relatives who were concerned for the family.

A spokesman said officers had discovered three adults and five children at a single-family home on Wednesday, all dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The dead were his wife, her mother, and the couple’s five children — three girls and two boys aged between four and 17.

Enoch Mayor Geoffrey Chesnut said the shooting came after an apparent marital breakdown.

Chesnut said Enoch was a small, close-knit community where people knew each other.
The police added that officers were familiar with the family's issues.
