THE LITTLE BOY AND THE WHISPERING FOREST PART 1.
Once upon a time, in a small sunny village nestled at the edge of a great green forest, lived a bright-eyed boy named Kofi. He was ten years old, with smooth dark skin, a head full of tight curly hair, and a smile that could light up the whole compound. Kofi loved adventures more than anything. But his parents always warned him: “The forest holds ancient spirits and tricky shadows. Never go in alone, especially when we are at the farm. Listen, my son.”
One bright morning, Kofi’s mother and father picked up their hoes and baskets. “Stay home and watch the goats, Kofi,” his father said sternly. “The forest is not safe today. Evil things stir when children wander.” His mother kissed his forehead and added softly, “Obey us, my heart. We will be back before the sun touches the tallest tree.”
But as soon as their voices faded down the red dirt path, Kofi felt the pull of the wild. “Just a little hunt,” he whispered to himself, grabbing his small sling and a sharpened stick. “I’ll bring back a fat rabbit and show them I’m brave!” Ignoring every word of warning, he slipped past the village fence and disappeared into the cool, leafy mouth of the forest.
At first, the forest felt magical. Golden sunlight danced through the leaves like friendly fireflies. Birds sang sweet songs, and Kofi laughed as he chased butterflies. But the deeper he went, the quieter it became. The trees grew taller and twisted, their branches reaching like old fingers. Strange shadows moved where there was no wind.
Suddenly, glowing eyes appeared between the vines—two, then four, then many. A low growl rumbled like distant thunder. A great shadowy beast, tall as two men with fur as dark as midnight, stepped into view. Kofi froze. His heart hammered like a festival drum. He turned to run, but a giant snake with shimmering scales dropped from a branch, hissing angrily and blocking his path.
