You will not always feel wise, but obedience is a form of wisdom.
I told someone to forgive her parents and her siblings for all the hardships they may have caused her, so she could free her mind, and she said "NEVER" in capital letters. 😁
Although I was very angry, I wanted to give up, but because I was led by the Holy Spirit, I obeyed the instructions and waited.
She told me how she suffered from a tender age; she disrespected anyone that came her way and hardly respected her elders. Nevertheless, people pointed fingers at her, branding her as the bad child and hurling hurtful words at her.
So one day, I took an interest in getting to know her better. When I was about to make a move, I explained to my friend how I would like to get closer to that lady and preach Christ to her.
My friend discouraged me. 😀 However, I really do understand her refusing me to get closer to the girl, because getting close to her would give me a bad name. (Who cares about a bad name when a soul needs to be saved?) Still, I went ahead. I met her calmly, became her friend, and began by speaking kind words to her. I told her how beautiful she is and how mightily God wants to use her.
One day, she broke down and told me the story of her life. Oh, it dawned on me that people are going through terrible things. She shared how her own father r***d her for twelve years and how her mother abandoned her, leaving her with her father. She has two siblings who also slept with her.
Her story was so sympathetic and painful that when her mother finally returned, she hated her. She hardly finished secondary school. Whenever she went to ask her dad for school fees, he would tell her to lay down, and he would sleep with her before giving her the fees. 🥺
Like, what?! I asked her why she didn't tell her mom, and she said that was what made her leave in the first place without taking her along, leaving her with three men who abused her every night.
😭 How can you sleep with a teenager? She was barely 16 years.
She explained that she felt no one loved her; people only took what they wanted from her. But ever since I started coming into her life, she felt loved again.
I prayed for her and encouraged her over time, during our study sessions, to forgive her father. She refused.
She told me how she had been abused since she was 16 years old, and she is now 26.
Many things held her back. I kept praying for her, and fortunately, one day she told me she had forgiven and let go. She felt better.
Within a month, her call-up letter that had been withheld for more than two years came out, and she was so happy. 😀
But guess what? It was just a simple act of obedience during her prayer that brought her all this good news.
Don't ever feel wise about everything; leave room for obedience. I pray that as you obey God, He will open more doors for you. Amen.
Move even when unsure. Don't allow anyone to discourage you from preaching to anyone.
That lady goes out at night and attends school in the morning while managing other small businesses. But today, she is happy with her next step with Christ.
Preach to that soul. Just an act of obedience can lead that sinner to inherit her place in the kingdom of God.
