CULINARY AND TRADITIONAL USES OF CLOVE.
Today we will look into the use of Clove in Kitchen and it's ancient uses.

Clove is both a spice and a natural remedy.
IN COOKING:
.Clove can be added to rice, stews, and soups
.Used in spice blends and baked foods
.Infused in tea and herbal drinks
IN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE:
.Clove is being used for treating toothache
.It can be mixed in warm water for cough relief.
It can also be used to ease digestive discomfort.
Clove’s versatility makes it a staple in many homes. We will continue tomorrow.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESEARCH ON GARLIC.

Through the studies on Garlic, we can conclude that Garlic is more than just a spice and should be a normal incorporation into every day diet without forgetting the precautions. Always take every food in moderation.

OUR RESEARCH ON GARLIC CONTINUES.

MECHANISM OF ACTION .
The biological activities of garlic are mainly linked to sulfur-containing compounds.
When garlic is crushed, alliin is converted by an enzyme carried alliinase into allicin. Allicin is unstable and breaks down into other sulfur compounds that may exert several actions:

Scavenging free radicals,

Reducing lipid oxidation,

Inhibiting microbial growth,

Modulating inflammatory pathways,

Reducing platelet aggregation,

Supporting vasodilation and blood flow.

These mechanisms explain why garlic is associated with a broad range of physiological effects.

RESEARCH FINDINGS ON GARLIC 2.

ANTICANCER AND IMMUNE EFFECTS.

Epidemiological data link higher garlic intake to lower risks of certain cancers, particularly gastrointestinal (e.g., ~35% reduced stomach cancer risk and ~25% colorectal in some meta-analyses). Organosulfur compounds may inhibit carcinogen activation, induce cell cycle arrest/apoptosis, suppress angiogenesis, and reduce inflammation/oxidative DNA damage. Preclinical (in vitro/in vivo) studies show strong activity against various cancer cell lines (e.g., breast, prostate, colon), but human interventional evidence is weaker and mostly associative or from small trials. Aged garlic has been studied for potential supportive roles.

Garlic exhibits antimicrobial properties (antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral) via allicin and related compounds, with some evidence for reducing common cold incidence/duration in supplemented groups. It may modulate immune responses by regulating cytokines and enhancing certain immune cell functions.

CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH.
This is the first article on research findings on Garlic.

Recent meta-analyses and clinical studies (2025–2026) emphasize garlic’s role in heart health through multiple mechanisms:

Heart Rate Regulation: A 2026 systematic review found that garlic and its bioactive compound allicin can modestly reduce heart rate (pooled mean difference of ~5.57 bpm) via autonomic modulation.

Blood Pressure: Garlic promotes the production of Nitric Oxide (NO) and Hydrogen Sulfide ($H_2S$), which act as vasodilators to relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure.

CHOLESTEROL MANAGEMENT: Supplementation, particularly with Aged Garlic Extract (AGE), has been shown to reduce total and LDL cholesterol while potentially slowing the progression of coronary artery calcium.

This week we will be looking into research findings on Garlic for to further back out articles on Garlic.
Happy new week all.
