Tinubu addressing Ogun State delegates

Before You Cast Stone At Tinubu…
Remember, betrayal hurts deeply!

I may not support BAT outburst but may our patience not be tested. Don’t judge Tinubu until you walk in his shoes.

The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies. It comes from friends and loved ones.

Hate or like Tinubu, he brought all of them to limelight. We never heard of them all until he helped them and they are all super stars today. How many people have they helped in return? Let’s have their names. They are bunch of selfish and plastic people.

Yes, BAT has his flaws just like you and I. But remember betrayal hurts and throws one off balance. Who doesn’t siregun? Till now, nobody has said, BAT lied. It is a well known fact that BAT helped Buhari and Babachir once confirmed it.

Tinubu Transformed Buhari’s Image, Funded his 2015 Election – Babachir Lawal, Culled from LEGIT, Sunday, August 23, 2020.

What has changed now? People are just insincere and unstable.

As far as helping people is concerned, help differs from help. He didn’t just help them, he was their destinies helper. They attained the heights they never thought or dreamt of in life… When he needed them most, they were not there. Human beings and ingratitude are 5 and 6.

One of the political super stars today was once a refrigerator repairer in Lagos. Tinubu made him a Commissioner, Governor, Minister… Today, he is a Billionaire…. A refrigerator repairer of yesterday? The person in question, his old friends are still repairing refrigerator in Lagos till now… Nobody is better than anyone it’s just by the grace of God. May our destiny helpers locate us and we’ll not be ungrateful.

This time will pass, definitely. The beauty about history is that, NOBODY AND NONE OF THESE MEN HE HELPED CAN REWRITE HISTORY!

Let the person who has not siregun come out and cast the first stone at Tinubu. Even here in Ondo State, we know ourselves.

May the will of God be done in our dear country, Nigeria. In 2023, May God the creator of heaven and earth give us a man to take Nigeria out of the mess caused by Buhari.

OROMPOTO, THE FIRST AND ONLY FEMALE ALAAFIN OF OYO

Orompoto or Orompotoniyun as she’s more commonly referred to was the first woman to become Alaafin of Oyo in the imperial era.

Orompoto assumed the throne because there was no adult male successor within her family at the time.

The Oyo Empire was a Yoruba empire of what is today Benin and North central Nigeria.

Established in the 12th century, the Oyo Empire grew to become the largest Yoruba state. It rose through the outstanding organizational and administrative skills of the Yoruba people, wealth gained from trade and its powerful cavalry.

The Oyo Empire was the most politically important state in the region from the mid-15th to the late 18th century, holding sway not only over most of the other kingdoms in Yorubaland, but also over nearby African states, notably the Fon Kingdom of Dahomey in the modern Republic of Benin to the west.

The region is been ruled by an alaafin (Alaafin means ‘owner of the palace’ in Yoruba) the Alaafin is the head of the empire and supreme overlord of the people responsible for keeping tributaries safe from attack, settling internal quarrels between sub-rulers, and mediating between those sub-rulers and their people.

ALAAFIN OROMPOTONIYUN

Alaafin Ajiun Orompotoniyun, ruled the Oyo empire in the 16th century, speculatively from 1554 to 1562

During her reign Orompoto was responsible for leading the Oyo Empire between the years 1554 to 1562. She was the daughter of Alaafin Ofinran and the grand – daughter of Alaafin Onigbogi, both rulers of the Empire in their own time.

When her father died, her brother, Prince Eguguoju succeeded his father. It was during his reign that the capital city was moved from Oyo ile to Oyo Igboho (New Oyo), after a protracted battle with the Nupes and also as a result of internal fighting. However, he died at a young age without a male successor.

His younger brothers, Prince Ajiboyede and Prince Tella were very young and as such couldn’t assume the throne at the time.

Princess Orompotoniyun was the only link to the Alaafin dynasty, but since it was forbidden for a woman to rule the empire, the chiefs and elders started making plots on how to install themselves as kings.

When she got wind of their plan, Princess Orompoto summoned the chiefs to discuss plans for her coronation but the chiefs and elders refused, saying that a female could never become king.

Orompotoniyun, still determined, told them that she was ready to prove to that she was a man and not a woman.

The chiefs thought it would be a good way to ridicule her and asked her to prove her masculinity and strip stark naked at the palace in seven days.

Princess Orompoto started wearing male items of clothing after this meeting and on the D- day, she mounted the podium and removed her cap to reveal her hair which had been cut low. She also went ahead to show her chest and still, the elders were not impressed.

She finally removed her trousers and according to Oral history, the chiefs not only saw a p***s, but they also saw a sc***um sack drooping with two sc***um eggs in the sack.

At once, everyone dropped on their chest in prostration and she got enthroned as Alaafin Orompotoniyun.

Orompotoniyun came to be popularly known as Ajiun, the custodian of the va**na that kills evil plots.

Orompoto was reportedly masterfully skilled on horseback, and devised an ingenious way of moving her warriors to attack enemies – foot soldiers in front and the calvarymen behind. Broad leaves were tied on the horses’ tails so that when they went a fighting, the leaves swept d ground after them to cover trails of d horses &men on foot.

Alaafin Ajiun died in the battle of Ilayi in 1562 fighting for her people. She’s the only one of the 40 Alaafin (39 men) who died in battle.

JANUARY 15, 1966: WAS IT AN IGBO COUP?

Some argue that Major Kaduna Nzeogwu's involvement in the January 1966 coup was part of a grand Igbo plan to "dominate" the country. This argument ignores the fact that Nzeogwu was an Igbo only in name.

Major Nzeogwu was born in Kaduna, the capital of the Northern Region, to Igbo immigrant parents from Okpanam, present-day Delta State, then in the Mid-West Region of Nigeria as of the time of the coup.

His family and military colleagues referred to him as "Kaduna" because of their attachment to the city of Nzeogwu's birth. Kaduna Nzeogwu wore northern m***i when he wasn't in his army uniform and frequently referred to himself as "a northerner."

Nzeogwu spoke Hausa, the lingua franca of the Northern Region, like a local. The major's command of the Hausa language was superior and better than his command of the Igbo language.

Even though the coup had been largely termed an Igbo coup, it was foiled by Igbo officers. Interestingly, those who foiled the coup were Igbo senior officers. Major-General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, Lieutenant-Colonels Emeka Ojukwu, Conrad Chukwujimje Dibia Nwawo, Alexander Attah Madiebo, and Major Alphonso Keshi.

As Brigade Major, 1 Brigade, Kaduna, Keshi informed Madiebo of the coup. Madiebo then moved over to the Brigade Headquarters where Nzeogwu had taken over Ademulegun’s seat and worked on the Major.

Ojukwu, Commanding Officer Fifth Battalion, Kano, stood his ground strategically and all worked with Ironsi to end the coup.

Moment In History: THE OSOGBO WAR OF 1840:
After the Fulanis systematically captured and made Ilorin their territory, they sacked the old Oyo Empire in 1835/1636 .

They were still not satisfied with their victory; they wished to extend their rule deep into the heart of Yoruba land. Thus in 1840, they set to capture Osogbo , a Yoruba town. The Fulanis, under the command of Ali , the Hausa balogun of Ilorin, laid siege on Osogbo.

When the king of Osogbo realized that the Ilorins were too strong for the Osogbo army, he summoned the Ibadans for help. Ibadan immediately sent some auxiliaries to Osogbo under the command of Obele alias Mobitan , and Alade Abimpagun. As this force could not stop the Ilorins, another contingent was sent to Osogbo under a more experienced leader. But still the Ilorins won every battle and gained more ground.

When Ibadan realized that the Ilorins were becoming more threatening to Yoruba land, they sent a large and stronger force under Balogun Oderinlo to crush the intruding forces and Jammas of Ilorin . When Oderinlo and his men arrived at the battlefield, they realized that things had gone worse than they thought.

They could not show their faces in the open field for the fear of the Ilorin horses, and for about 20 days after their arrival at Osogbo, they could not fight outside the town thickets. Oderinlo suggested that Elepo, a brave Ibadan warrior was badly needed at the war-front. Elepo had been rejected by the war-chiefs of Ibadan for his actions at the late Agbamaja expedition.

As soon as the message from Oderinlo reached Ibadan, the Bashorun wished he could send Elepo to Osogbo but could not go against the wish of other war-chiefs. The Bashorun gave Elepo a cow to worship his god, Ori , and pray for the victory of Ibadan at the war-front.

At the war-front, the Ibadan could not attack the Ilorins during the day because Osogbo was practically in a plain and the Ilorin horses might have advantage of them with disastrous results.

They decided to attack at dusk when the Ilorins would no longer be able to use their horses. About 2:pm, the well prepared Ibadan army left the gate of Osogbo for the battlefield. They were to keep a strict watch and arrest anyone suspected to be a spy.

About a mile from the Ilorin camp, they halted and arranged the order of the attack.

The Osogbo army and the earlier auxiliaries were to handle the center of the battlefield, chiefs Abitiko and Labuju were to command the right wing, Balogun Oderinlo with the rest of the Ibadan war-chiefs were to form the left wing of the army. The Ilorin camp was then attacked at midnight. The watchword was “ Elo ni owo odo? ” (How much is the ferry fare?).

The reason this watchword was chosen was because the river Osun had to be crossed in entering Osogbo from the south, and anyone who could not tell this was likely to be an enemy.

Stampede engulfed the Ilorin camp as the Ibadan army set it on fire. The Ilorins could not offer the slightest resistance; they were smoked with the gunpowder of the Ibadan guns.

This attack was a success for the Ibadan. Some Ilorin war-chiefs were captured in the attack. Prominent ones were:
1. Jimba the head slave of the Emir;
2. One of the sons of Ali the commander in chief;
3. Chief Lateju;
4. Ajikobo the Yoruba Balogun of Ilorin.
The first two were released while the latter two, being Yoruba by birth, were regarded as traitors and were executed. This was a huge victory for the whole of Yoruba land.

After the Osogbo victory,
Ibokun, an Ijesa town not far from Osogbo was taken by the Ibadans for being an ally of Ilorin.
After this war, Ìbàdàn later became a force building a formidable war machinery than later prosecuted many other wars with resounding victory.

Notable among the wars was the KIRIJI WAR where the Ibadan warlords formed a historic alliance with the Igbajos. Even though Igbajo became the war front for many years that the war lasted, it was never captured by the raging Ekiti parapò warriors. Rather it was a place where many of them met their Waterloo.

Notable among the warriors were Fabunmi Okeemesi, Ogedengbe Agbogun gboro of the Ijesas, Apasikoto pasigegele of Igbajo and Latoosa of Ibadan to mention a few. There were many more great warriors of the time.
It's worthy to note that the KIRIJI WAR was the last war in Yoruba land. It's also recorded as the longest native war between in Africa.
Since then the Yoruba people have continued to build strong bonds among themselves and they have sustained the peace.

We must continue to tell our children the history of the Yoruba people and the bond which our father had built so that we can continue to see ourselves as one. If the Ibadan people can sacrifice their lives for the people of Osogbo in other to safe other towns and villages in Yoruba land and in essence the carnage of innocent people were prevented, then, we the modern Yorubas have no reason to divide ourselves for political reasons or any reason at all.
