POS Operator, Orphan Student of Benue State University, Stabbed by Trusted Customer Over โฆ850,000 Transaction

Tragedy struck in Makurdi, Benue State, after a Point of Sale (POS) operator identified as Alice Ote Okpa, a student of Benue State University (BSU) and an orphan, was allegedly attacked by one of her regular customers, Mrs. Cynthia Emmanuel, during a business transaction.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred along Naka Road, Makurdi, where Alice operates a POS business near Bush Bar. Reports say Mrs. Cynthia had called Alice to bring a cash amount of โฆ850,000 to her residence for a transaction. Out of trust, the student took the money to her house as requested.
However, in a shocking turn of events, Cynthia allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed Alice in the neck while pretending to go inside for her ATM card. The victim managed to struggle and escape from the scene, raising an alarm that attracted neighbors who quickly intervened and rescued her.
Alice was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention, while the suspect, Mrs. Cynthia Emmanuel, was apprehended by residents and handed over to the police for investigation.
Residents have expressed outrage over the rising attacks on POS operators in Makurdi and other parts of Benue State, describing the situation as alarming. Many lamented that POS agents now face threats not only from armed robbers and fraudsters but also from trusted customers.
Authorities have been urged to tighten security and ensure justice for the victim as investigations continue.
