Nigerian Army Commissions Renovated Wards at Langtang North General Hospital
In a remarkable gesture of service and compassion, the Nigerian Army has commissioned newly renovated male and female wards at the General Hospital in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State. The initiative was spearheaded by Major-General Nansak Shagaya as part of the Nigerian Army's Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) project.
Gen. Nansak Shagaya, the son of the late General John Nanzip Shagaya—renowned military leader and statesman—continues to uphold his father's legacy of service to the Tarok Nation and Nigeria at large. Rising through the ranks of the Nigerian Army to his current status as Major-General, Shagaya's intervention marks a major milestone in restoring the long-neglected hospital facility.
Originally built during the administration of Chief Solomon Lar, the General Hospital once served as a beacon of healthcare excellence in the Southern Senatorial Zone of Plateau State, catering to Langtang North and South, Wase, Mikang, and Kanke LGAs. However, over the years, government neglect left the facility in a deplorable state—its dilapidated buildings resembling relics of a forgotten era.
Though much remains to be done to fully revamp the hospital, this development is a step in the right direction. Previous efforts by the administration of Governor Jonah Jang made some progress, but were ultimately abandoned. It is now imperative for the administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang to revisit and complete those projects, building upon the foundation laid by Gen. Shagaya.
