Topher: First of all, I’m sorry because that’s not usually how I am, and it’s been making me uncomfortable. The thing is, I thought saying it under pressure would save the situation, but it seems like trying to be the hero might end up ruining everything.

Anita: What does that mean?

Topher: The truth is, I’m actually in love with you. It’s been driving me cr@zy, and I’m ready to face the consequences because you made it clear you don’t have the patience for games. I’m not playing games, but I me$sed up by not being honest under pressure because I thought I’d lose you if I said it outright.

Topher: So, I’m younger.

Anita: *Nods in disbelief*

Topher: I know you have a standard that doesn’t include dating someone younger than you planned, and I me$sed up because you gave me two chances to come clean.

Anita: How old are you?

Topher: 26.

Anita: Why are you telling me this now?

Topher: *Silent*

Anita: Please don’t take 30 minutes to answer.

Topher: It’s something I’ve been questioning myself about too—like, “Of all things, why did I hide my age?”

Anita: So why now?

Anita: Yeah.

Topher: Because it feels unfair to wake up every morning knowing this is hanging over us. I’m really sorry... I thought I’d ru!n everything, but that was selfish because I put my emotions first instead of... I was a cow@rd, which is cr@zy because I usually speak out against that.

Anita: And you thought if I found out, it would do what?

Anita: Why did you make it seem like I was wrong all those times I asked you?

Topher: Because nobody knew.

Anita: How can you say nobody knew? So how did it come to me?

Topher: Coming in here, I never assigned a number to it, honestly.

Anita: Is that all you wanted to talk about? If so, I’m going inside.

Topher: Please, hear me out.
