At Take The Lead Africa, we believe leadership is ultimately revealed through character, responsibility, and the positive influence a person creates in the lives of others.

At the Take The Lead Conference 2026, the Leadership Impact Award was presented to Pastor Ola Adejubee for championing leadership through character, purpose, and responsibility, while inspiring individuals to lead with integrity, intentionality, and lasting impact.

RECLAIMING THE ESSENCE OF TRUE LEADERSHIP

Across Africa, we need to rethink what leadership means.

Leadership is not merely the position you occupy. It is the capacity to take responsibility, build competence, mobilize people and turn vision into measurable progress.

Three shifts are necessary:

FROM AUTHORITY TO RESPONSIBILITY

Leadership is not about the authority you possess, but the responsibility you are willing to carry. Real influence is built through service, ex*****on and ownership of outcomes.

FROM AMBITION TO CAPACITY

Vision without the capacity to execute remains an intention. Great leaders build the people, systems and discipline required to turn vision into results.

FROM INDIVIDUAL STATURE TO GENERATIONAL IMPACT

The measure of leadership is not how many followers you accumulate, but how many capable leaders you develop to carry the mission forward.

This is central to the mission of Take The Lead Africa: building a generation with the character, competence and capacity to create meaningful impact.

Africa does not merely need more people aspiring to leadership.

Africa needs more people prepared for the responsibility of leadership.

Leadership capacity is developed through character, competence, ex*****on and institutional discipline.

Building a Generation That Takes The Lead.

BEYOND THE TITLE — THE ESSENCE OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Leadership is often associated with authority, titles, and positions.

But a title may give you authority. It does not automatically give you leadership.

Leadership becomes consequential when vision is translated into action, character produces trust, and responsibility is distributed beyond one individual.

Three principles matter:

1. VISION WITHOUT EX*****ON IS JUST ILLUSION

A compelling vision may inspire people, but inspiration without disciplined ex*****on produces little lasting change.

Leadership requires the ability to translate purpose into priorities, priorities into action, and action into measurable progress.

2. POSITION GIVES AUTHORITY; CHARACTER BUILDS TRUST

A title can make people accountable to you.

Character determines whether they believe in you.

Consistency, integrity, competence, and accountability create the credibility that positional authority alone cannot command.

3. BUILD A CULTURE OF COLLECTIVE OWNERSHIP

The ultimate test of leadership is not how many people depend on the leader.

It is how many people become capable of leading because of the leader.

Strong institutions are built when responsibility, competence, and ownership are developed across the system not concentrated around one individual.

That is the essence of transformational leadership:

Turn vision into ex*****on.
Turn authority into trust.
Turn followers into leaders.

Leadership is not merely the title you hold.

It is the responsibility you take for turning vision into measurable progress.

TAKE THE LEAD CONFERENCE 2026 ON ARISE NEWS

Three weeks later, the message remains as urgent as ever.

At Take The Lead Conference 2026, leaders from diverse sectors challenged Nigerians, especially young people, to move beyond complaints and become part of the solution by embracing responsibility, integrity, courage, and purposeful action.

As our Convener, Isaac Ajisafe, stated during the conference:

"Leadership is not about talking about it; it is about doing something that can positively influence society, the nation, and even the continent."

We are pleased to share ARISE NEWS' coverage of this important conversation.

The conference may be over, but the assignment continues.

Watch the report. Share the message. Take the lead.
