Return To Farm, Solve Hunger Problem - Senate Tell Nigerians

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Industry, Francis Fadahunsi, has urged Nigerians to return to farming and produce food in large quantities, thereby reducing the current hunger ravaging the country.

The lawmaker, who represents Osun East Senatorial District in Osun State in the Senate, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Ilase-Ijesa, Osun State, on Tuesday.

The lawmaker, who commended President Bola Tinubu for taking advice he was offered regarding ways to reduce poverty, predicted that before the end of the current year, Nigerians will heave a sigh of relief.

“I am farming. Everybody should farm. If there is no hunger, automatically, we will be thinking right. The development is coming. What I have seen in the National Assemblies is real, and so on.

“Automatically, before the end of this year, things will go down. Just recently, when we went for the NEC meeting, President Tinubu advised the governors to go deep into the local areas and invest more.

'On March 2, 2022 after The NDLEA incident, we all went to eat(first slide) he apologized to me, Zino and everybody. We didn’t know how to tell people he was not in the right state of mind. Infact his dad and mum came to apologize. Wunmi also came with her mum to apologize. I had no choice than to forgive him and we continued our relationship. On March 9, 2022, he sent me a message on WhatsApp that he wanted to tell me something(second slide)He said he felt down and sick and he would like us to talk about it on the phone. I was in Dubai for a show that time. After The NDLEA incident, MOH wasn’t staying at The Marlian house anymore but he still had his keys. On March 14, 2022, I tried to get him help, did more scans and paid for meds at different hospitals(fourth slide). On March 22, 2022, Mohbad and I spoke and he said he would like to get his own apartment. I said no problem, when he finds one, we will arrange it. Three days later I travelled for a show in Puerto Rico

On March 27, 2022, Mohbad attempted su!c!de. I was still in Puerto Rico when I got a phone call that Mohbad wanted to jump out of the window and k!ll himself. I called him immediately to ask what happened(5th slide)Remember he already made a live video few weeks earlier that if anything happened to him, people should hold me. I started encouraging him and I told him that if anything happens to you now, it is me they will hold because you already made a live video. He started apologizing again. After speaking to him on the phone, I got the address of where he was, I called Zino and other team members to go there and take it easy with him because he might be paranoid. His dad even followed them. Zino had a show, he went with them and they had fun together. After the show they went to eat, sent me videos and he said he was ok. Later on, they called me that he got a call and he said he was leaving. I told them to let him go.' - Naira Marley (Part 3)

Tinubu’s naira devaluation rendered N70,000 minimum wage useless: U.S. Govt

The U.S. government has stated that the naira devaluation rendered President Bola Tinubu’s minimum wage increase useless as deteriorating poverty amid galloping inflation wracks millions of Nigerians.

This was highlighted in the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2024, published by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor on August 12.

“The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024 doubled the minimum wage to 70,000 naira ($47.90) per month. Despite the increase, currency devaluation meant the minimum wage was no longer higher than the poverty income level,” the report said.

The U.S. also noted that many Nigerians are not beneficiaries of the minimum wage increment, as many states have yet to implement it.

“Many employers had fewer than 25 employees, so most workers were not covered. Some states declined to implement the minimum wage law, citing financial constraints,” the report said.

This comes a year after the national minimum wage increment was announced.

Amid the unprecedented cost-of-living crisis triggered by Mr Tinubu’s dual policies—subsidy removal and exchange rate unification—in July 2024, the president increased the national minimum wage to N70,000, promising it would be reviewed after three years, rather than five years.

EXPOSED! Documents Reveal How Tinubu’s Minister Wike Secretly Bought $2Million U.S. Mansion In Wife, Children’s Names.

———————————————————————

The documents, obtained by West Africa Weekly, also show that Justice Wike is a registered member of the U.S. Democratic Party, a status that places her in violation of Nigeria’s Judicial Code of Conduct, which prohibits judges from partisan political affiliations.

According to official U.S. public records, the Wike family quietly secured the property in March 2025.

The residence, located at 113 Spring Creek Lane, Winter Springs, Florida 32708, is a two-storey mansion built in 1997 on a 4,076-square-foot lot. It features multiple bedrooms, a garage, and two dedicated parking spaces.

A source familiar with the deal, who spoke to West Africa Weekly on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Wike deliberately omitted his name from the purchase, using his wife's and children’s identities to shield himself from scrutiny regarding asset declaration obligations and questions about the source of funds.

The revelations come amid mounting scandals involving the controversial minister, who was recently linked to a staggering $3.6 billion FCT land-grab scheme allegedly facilitated through his son, Joaquin.

The hidden Florida purchase now raises fresh concerns of illicit enrichment and cross-border money laundering, potentially violating Nigeria’s Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Equally troubling is the involvement of his wife, Justice Eberechi Wike, a serving judicial officer.

By aligning herself with the U.S. Democratic Party, she runs afoul of the Nigerian Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers (Rule 9.3a), which explicitly bars judges from joining political organizations or engaging in activities that may compromise their impartiality.

Furthermore, her participation in the property acquisition conflicts with Rule 1.2 and 5c of the same Code, which demands strict avoidance of impropriety or even the appearance of impropriety by members of the bench.

'On August 10, 2025, 1 boarded a flight from Uyo to Lagos. The hostess, Juliana said we should switch off our phones. I was trying to put one of my phones on flight mode. She came to me and said I must put it off. I was with two phones and I explained to her that the second phone was faulty. A man helped me to switch off one of the phones while I struggled with the faulty one. I told her to help me out but she said no so l begged the man again to switch it off and he did. As Juliana was leaving, she said 'YOU WILL SEE! I didn't count it as anything. When we landed in Lagos, I had to use the tollet in the plane. When I came out, I quickly went to pack my luggage and was about to get out of the plane when Juliana stopped me for no reason. I told her to let me pass but she ignored so l started recording on my phone. After a while I stopped the recording and she saw that I recorded her so she pushed me inside the plane, dragged my frontal, my clothes, my jewelry and broke my phones

The pain of the frontal she pulled got me mad, I poked my fingers at her face and I asked her why she did that. She then started calling me a pr******te. The other airport staff came, surrounded me and dragged me out of the plane. While they were dragging me, she pulled my clothes which was pinned on me and my body was out there and all of them were recording me. I tried to cover my body. I never expected that kind of treatment.
They recorded me and put it on the social media. I am traumatized, I am ashamed to go out because everyone has seen my body. They even used it as WhatsApp sticker. I am into real estate, I don't know how to talk to customers knowing that my body is out there. How will I get married? My unborn kids will see this. My reputation is gone. I am not a trouble maker. I am still rounding up my treatment from the hospital' -

Trump slams Tinubu over killing of Christians in Nigeria, vows decisive action

he United States has strongly condemned the recent wave of brutal attacks targeting Christians in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa, calling the violence horrific and pledging to work with international partners to address the crisis.

The condemnation follows a series of deadly incidents in recent weeks, including the massacre of 27 Christians in the Nigerian village of Bindi Ta-hoss by Islamist Fulani militants, reports The Guardian.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of horror, with many victims, many of them women and children, burned alive while seeking refuge in a church.

I lost my wife and second daughter in the attack,” survivor Solomon Sunday told reporters.

“They were burnt alive.”

In a separate incident on July 27, 49 Christians were butchered with machetes during prayers in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Authorities blame Islamist militants from the Allied Democratic Forces, a group affiliated with ISIS.
Across the region, Islamist extremists, including Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa, are accused of targeting Christians for killing, displacement, and land seizure.

The Trump administration, through both the White House and the State Department, has vowed to respond decisively.

“The Trump administration condemns in the strongest terms this horrific violence against Christians,” the White House said, emphasising that religious freedom is both a moral duty and a U.S. foreign policy priority.

Human rights organisations warn that the violence amounts to an ongoing campaign of “ethno-religious cleansing.” John Eibner, president of Christian Solidarity International, told Fox News Digital that in Nigeria’s Plateau State alone, over 165 Christians have been killed in the last four months.

“People are being killed like chickens, and nothing is being done,” added local youth leader D’Young Mangut.

According to Open Doors, more Christians are killed for their faith in Nigeria than in the rest of the world combined. Over the past decade, jihadist violence in sub-Saharan Africa has claimed around 150,000 lives and displaced more than 16 million Christians. In Plateau State, over 64 communities have been reportedly taken over by armed Fulani militants.
Religious leaders say the violence is systematic and unchecked.

Bishop Wilfred Anagbe, who lost 20 parishioners in a recent attack, accused militants of seeking to turn parts of Nigeria into an Islamic State, while victims’ families say they are “tired of condolences” and demand real protection.

Advocates are urging African governments to enforce justice, restore displaced communities, and deploy security forces to protect vulnerable villages.

For too long, nobody has been talking about the horrific wholesale slaughter of Christians,” said Henrietta Blyth, CEO of Open Doors UK and Ireland. “The Western world needs to wake up and be outraged.”

JUST IN!!! Ibom Air Passenger, Comfort Emmanson to remain in Prison till October 6th |

A magistrate court in Ogba, Lagos, has ordered the remand of Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of assaulting airline officials aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, at the Kirikiri correctional centre until October 6.

The order was issued on Monday by presiding magistrate O.O. Salami, shortly after Emmanson was arraigned by the police on a five-count charge bordering on assault and wilful damage to property.

According to the charge sheet seen by this newspaper, Emmanson allegedly “shouted at the top of her voice, abused and assaulted flight crew members, and refused to disembark from the aircraft after landing,” an offence said to contravene section 4(1)(a) and punishable under section 4(2) of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Byelaw, 2005.

She was also accused of slapping one Juliana Edward and hitting her cheeks with her right hand, in violation of sections 170(1)(a)(b) and 172 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

The defendant also allegedly struck another person, Jokpame Segun, in the face with her slippers. In addition, she allegedly damaged an aircraft divider curtain valued at $2,500 and tore a braided wig worth N110,000 belonging to one of the crew members. The offences are said to contravene the FAAN Byelaw, 2005, as well as sections 170, 172, and 350 of the Lagos State Criminal Law.

Videos of the incident circulating online show Emmanson in a heated confrontation with flight attendants and later with airport security personnel.

Ibom Air, in a statement, explained that the altercation began before take-off from Uyo when Emmanson refused to switch off her mobile phone, as required by standard aviation safety procedures. The airline said a fellow passenger eventually turned off the phone, triggering a furious reaction from Emmanson.

Upon arrival in Lagos, she allegedly confronted the purser who had earlier instructed her to comply with the safety rule and physically assaulted her. Emmanson was immediately bundled out of the aircraft and handed over to the Police.

Tinubu’s Associates Begin Campaign For united Southern Nigeria Ahead Of 2027 |

Planners of an alleged solidarity move to secure a united southern backing for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 have intensified their strategies.

Sources said state governors, key political office holders across party lines and other stakeholders have been contacted in varying ways “primarily and ultimately” to get voters to cast their ballot for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.

Findings indicated that the south-east, described as “the most likely zone of resistance”, is the main target where the bulk of the mobilisation work will be done.

“From what we have heard and the body language of some political leaders, they are also looking for ways of initiating talks with very important opposition figures like Mr Peter Obi to reconsider their ambition of vying for the presidency in 2027.

“This has been a tough task so far, but the push is unrelenting,” a source told Nigerian Tribune.

However, the Obi camp has dismissed the idea of any negotiations to step down for Tinubu.

“It will be a capital no for anyone to contemplate the idea that the former governor of Anambra state will trade his presidential ambition on the table of any negotiations,” said Tanko Yunusa, national coordinator of the Obidient Movement.

“We have already shown our interest as democrats and we have been on the narrative of changing the dynamics of our country’s misfortunes, in terms of the recycling of the leadership that we have had.

“We came with a clear ideology of a departure from the old to the present. What we came out with is prudency in management; accountability, compassion to the people, carrying the Nigerian youths along and showing a new paradigm shift from the old way of politics,” Tanko Yunusa, national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, said.

Yunusa said the planned solidarity would not achieve its intended objective because Obi would not negotiate himself out of the race.

“Obi is focused on his ambition to become president, we are determined and it is a fresh idea that will change the narrative of Nigeria.

“Obi is saying we need to be productive and accountable to the people with the little resources that we have and not to continue to be wasteful without accountability,” he said.

It was learned that Obi, who still holds tightly to his Labour Party card despite fraternizing with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has not engaged governors in his immediate zone or the larger South in serious 2027 strategic talks.

“What is being plotted in this so-called solidarity plan is to have the governors, particularly second-term-seeking governors, work behind the scenes for President Tinubu’s second term as they also pursue their own ambitions, hoping for a reciprocal gesture,” a senior political party official said
