Section 81 (3) talk about the penalty of noncomplying. While section 41 (1,3) talks about the filing of annual returns.

Every company resident or non resident is liable to tax in Nigeria, if the income derived by company is liable yo tax under the provision of company income tax Act.

Company is said to be resident in Nigeria, if it is registered or incorporated in Nigeria. While the legal basis for assessing companies to tax is the CITA CAP21 LFN, 2004. Which is administered by the Federal inland revenue service (FIRS).

As a new company or existing you need to take cognizant effort on the following : Registration for tax purposes, Chargeability to tax , Rendition of return, Penalty for late filing , Extension for filing return , Other return ( Banks return)...

Every company in Nigeria is required for the above.

Its high time for us to start welcoming the new tax reform bill. The bill covers tax exemption of business with 50 million turnover or less, tax exemption of personal income tax on minimum wage, reduction of corporate tax from 30% to 25%, Also VAT 0% of healthcare, public transportation , food, fuel product, renewable energy. These items constitute of 82% of rising of cost of living of the citizens.
We hope , with the new tax reform, job opportunities & reduction of inflation in our country will be seen properly .
