A couple from 90 Day Fiancé, Daniel and Lisa, has stirred debate online after sharing their love story.

Lisa, a 52-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, is married to Daniel, a younger Nigerian man of Igbo origin. Daniel said his decision to marry an older white American woman was influenced by a promise to his late mother, who told him she was once saved during war by a white woman and asked him to honor that memory.

The explanation, however, drew mixed reactions. While some viewers accepted his story, others questioned his motives, suggesting the marriage may be driven by a desire to move to the United States rather than love. Daniel has denied the claims, insisting his relationship with Lisa is genuine.

One of the most touching moments during Angelina Jolie’s visit to the Rafah Crossing. She meets a Palestinian child who lost her entire family. The young girl is currently healing in a hospital. Despite her pain and loss, she showed remarkable strength. What truly moved people was the girl’s first question. It wasn’t “Why?” And it wasn’t “Help.” Instead, she looked at Angelina Jolie and asked something unexpected “Will you share my dinner?”

In a bold diplomatic move, Mali and Burkina Faso have announced they’re banning U.S. citizens from entering their countries, a direct response to the Trump administration’s expanded travel ban targeting their nationals early December.

Both West African nations say this retaliatory measure is based on the principle of “reciprocity” after Washington added them to its list of countries barred from U.S. entry.

The decision marks a sharp escalation in tensions and could have wide implications for travel and diplomatic relations between the U.S. and the Sahel region.

Zohran Mamdani has been sworn in as mayor of New York City, marking a historic milestone as the first Muslim to hold the office. He took office on January 1, 2026, succeeding Eric Adams.

The oath was administered at a historic location, a decommissioned City Hall subway station, and he placed his hand on a Quran.

The ceremony at City Hall highlighted the city’s multicultural identity and long-standing tradition of religious freedom.

In his campaigns, Mamdani emphasized housing affordability, economic justice, and inclusive governance for the city’s diverse population.

Somalia has rejected Israel’s reported recognition of Somaliland, telling the UN that the move violates Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity under international law.

Addressing the UN, Somali government representatives stressed that Somaliland remains an inseparable part of the Federal Republic of Somalia and that no external actor has the authority to alter its internationally recognized borders.

The delegation also sharply criticized Israel’s posture, stating that Israel “has no moral or legal standing to lecture Somalia on genocide or human rights,” a remark that drew attention to Israel’s ongoing conduct in Gaza. Somalia warned that such actions undermine regional stability and called on UN member states to uphold the principles of sovereignty and non-interference.

The Labour Party (LP) has described the defection of its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a relief, saying the party had already parted ways with him since September 2024.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party accused Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti of fueling internal crises and attempting to destabilize the Julius Abure-led leadership.

LP also dismissed Obi’s speech at the ADC event in Enugu as unimpressive and claimed the event was poorly attended by key South East political and traditional leaders.

The party blamed Obi for the South East’s limited representation in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and said his political influence has waned.

In a rare admission, the Labour Party apologised to Nigerians for presenting Obi as its presidential candidate in 2023, describing the decision as a “great political mistake,” and promised to field a better candidate in the future.
