On Sunday, I contributed to a panel discussion about forgiveness. I said, If you still carry bitterness, resentment, or pain toward someone you claim to have forgiven, perhaps you haven’t truly forgiven them.

I didn’t know God would use my own words to examine my heart.

After church, I realized there were people I had never truly forgiven even though they have asked forgforgiveness. We still spoke but that resentment was still there. In that moment, I made a conscious decision to truly forgive.

No wonder the Bible says, “ If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8 & ” All our righteous acts are like filthy rags.” Isaiah 64:6.

They reminded me how easy it is to think we’re doing well spiritually while remaining blind to the areas where God is still working on our hearts.

Then I heard a quiet voice say, “ Idee… have you forgiven yourself?” That question broke me & tears starts rolling on my soapy face. I realized I had extended grace to others while denying it to myself. I was still carrying guilt for the mistakes God had already forgiven.

It hit me, that forgiveness is not only about setting someone else free. Sometimes it’s about finally accepting the freedom Christ has already given you.

So today, ask yourself: Who still needs your forgiveness? It might be someone from your past or it might be the person you see every morning in the mirror.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Idorenyin, but I prefer Idee or Ideefrancis. Since this is my very first post here, I want to start by opening the door a little sharing who I am, what I love, and the heart behind this space.

I am a believing Christian, a mom (never married), and the founder of Adán Idét, a beauty brand committed to honoring African hair, celebrating identity, and creating products that encourage us to embrace our hair. I am endlessly curious about the world especially when it comes to traveling to historical sites, discovering new food, and learning about ancient traditions. I love the things that carry meaning: culture, memory, and the small details that teach us who we are.

I am also deeply family-oriented and see it as the most vital part of our society.

For a long time, I had a favorite color. Right now, I don’t think I do. But my wardrobe quietly reveals the truth it is filled with white and black, two shades that somehow reflect the simplicity and clarity I’m drawn to in life.

Two quotes guide how I move through the world: “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the fittest, but those who adjust to change.” It reminds me that flexibility is a form of strength. The second one is, “Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you.” A timeless command from Scripture that anchors my heart in compassion.

And because life is not complete without food preferences: My favorite meal is rice with rice and stew topping the list every single time. My least favorite is fried rice, and if I had to choose the worst soup, it would definitely be okra… at least when it isn’t prepared by me.

I’ve shared a little about myself now I’d love to know something about you. If you feel comfortable, introduce yourself in the comments. Tell me your name, what you love, or even why you’re here. I’m excited to meet you.

I have acne-prone skin, my routine is divided into two parts: Hydration + Treatment.

Hydration keeps my skin barrier healthy.
Treatment targets breakouts without over-drying my skin.

One amazing thing about this gel is that it does not leave those annoying white flakes.
