BABA MAI GONAR OFFER: Appointment Secured for Yobe Indigenes!

We are proud to celebrate a major achievement by Hon. Jibril Maigari, Federal Commissioner representing Yobe State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), who has successfully secured permanent and pensionable federal appointments for several Yobe indigenes.

Tulo-Tulo, also known as Tulo-Tulowa, is a captivating desert oasis situated in Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State, northeastern Nigeria. Nestled in a low valley on the fringes of the Sahara Desert, this hidden gem offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.

🌴 Natural Beauty and Landscape

Tulo-Tulo is renowned for its expansive golden sand dunes, lush palm groves, and serene oases that create a picturesque Saharan-like environment. The name "Tulo-Tulo" translates to "marshy land with abundant water," reflecting its status as a fertile oasis amidst the arid desert landscape. The village is surrounded by five hills, enhancing its scenic allure .

🐫 Cultural and Economic Significance

Historically, Tulo-Tulo was established about a century ago by nomadic herders from Geidam in search of greener pastures. The area is rich in potash, locally known as "kanwa" or black salt, which is found in commercial quantities. Camel caravans often transport this mineral to nearby towns like Geidam and Gashua, echoing the ancient Trans-Saharan trade routes .

🚗 Accessibility and Tourism Potential

Located approximately 105 kilometers north of Nguru and near the Niger border, Tulo-Tulo is accessible via four-wheel-drive vehicles due to its remote desert terrain. Its unique landscape and cultural richness make it a promising destination for eco-tourism and cultural exploration .

Two LEA Staff Killed in Bomb Blast on Damboa–Maiduguri Highway

Two staff members of the Damboa Local Education Authority (LEA) were killed on Monday in a bomb blast along the Damboa–Maiduguri highway.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the victims, identified as Blessings Luka and Gideon Bitterleaf, were travelling from Damboa to Maiduguri when the incident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased were seated in front of a Toyota Hiace van transporting mangoes when the vehicle struck an improvised explosive device suspected to have been planted by insurgents.

The explosion claimed both lives instantly, leaving few others with injuries.

A source within the Damboa Local Government confirmed the identities of the victims, describing them as committed and hardworking education officials.

Security operatives have since cordoned off the area, while investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the attack.

NGF SUPPORTS CREATION OF STATE POLICE TO CURB SECURITY CHALLENGE

The Northern Governors Forum has called on the National Assembly to institute a legislation for the creation of state police to boost security across the country.

This is contained in a communique at the end of its meeting on Saturday which was read by the Chairman of the Forum, and Governor of Gombe state, Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He said "the Forum resolved to support the creation of state police and called on the National Assembly to expedite action on the enactment of the legal framework for the its take off"

The Forum resolved to boost inter state border survellience to effectively combat insurgency, banditry and other crimes

It also appreciated the Federal government in addressing security challenges and infrastructural deficits in Nigeria.

The Forum also expresses its determination for enhanced synergy with the Nigeria Governors Forum in combating the security challenges.

The meeting was attended by the 19 Northern Governors and state Chairmen of the traditional rulers.
