One thing you must not borrow money to do is a wedding.

I repeat: A WEDDING.

You know why?

Because the returns are unpredictable.

The revenue from a wedding is subjective to other people’s emotions. You can spend millions preparing for that one day, and people can still come, eat, dance, take pictures and go home without giving you anything close to what you spent.

And when the excitement is over, the loan remains.

By all means, have a beautiful wedding, but let it be lower than your means, not higher than your means.

Don’t start your marriage with a financial burden created to impress people who will leave the venue before you do.

Marry the person.
Celebrate the marriage.
Don’t bankrupt yourself trying to fund the wedding.

At this rate, your singleness is no longer a season.

It’s becoming a long-term development project.

Standards are good.

But if your list keeps getting longer while your options keep getting fewer, maybe it’s time to ask whether those are standards… or just self-imposed limitations.

Before anybody starts fighting in the comments, answer this:

What’s one “I can’t marry…” statement you believe people should genuinely keep… and what’s one you think people need to reconsider?

You can’t handle it.

You can’t handle one-sided affection.
You can’t handle forced empathy.
You can’t dictate kindness.

Let it go.

Forcing your way into a relationship has never ended well for anyone.

Maybe you think you’ll be the exception.
I sincerely pray you are.

But mutual love and mutual respect will always be better than chasing someone who doesn’t want you.

Never believe that a battle meant for two can be won by one.

Relationships are not won by persistence alone.
They are built by two willing partners!

Let’s end it here🙏🏾

No one will tell you this… but I will, because I care.

He is not interested in you until he says so.

She has not said yes until she actually says yes.

“I know he loves me.”

Dey play.

“I know she knows how I feel.”

Dey play.

“With the way I’m always checking up on her, buying gifts, and caring for her, she should know I want more than friendship.”

Dey play.

Stop building a relationship on assumptions.

Attention is not commitment.

Kindness is not a proposal.

Chemistry is not clarity.

Mixed signals are not a “yes.”

If you want a relationship, talk.

Express your intentions respectfully.

Ask the question.

Give the other person the opportunity to give a clear answer.

Silence is not consent.

Assumptions have broken more hearts than rejection ever did.

Talk now…

Or tears are loading.

Na wedding IV go clear your eyes when you see the invitation card.

Clarity may sting for a moment. Assumptions can waste years.

“Men are scum!”
“Women are snakes!”

I will believe you… as long as you keep the same energy.

On Father’s Day, make sure you post:
“To the scum in my life… Happy Father’s Day, Dad.”

And on Mother’s Day, don’t forget:
“To the snake in my life… Happy Mother’s Day, Mum.”

If you can’t write that about your parents, maybe it’s time to stop using blanket statements for an entire gender because of the actions of a few.

Just a thought. 😌

The most embarrassing counseling session of my life… 😂 (Part 2)

If you missed Part 1, here’s the summary: a lady complained that her boyfriend changed after he got a better job. But after asking a few questions, the real story started coming out.

She eventually admitted that she had actually treated him badly while he was broke.

At first, she thought she could manage the relationship. But as time went on, she felt she was doing better than him financially. Her attitude changed. She became cold, asked for a break, and treated him differently because he wasn’t where she wanted him to be.

I said to her,

“My dear, let’s be honest with ourselves… you wronged this man.”

I explained that from his point of view, he had watched someone who claimed to love him treat him differently because of his financial situation.

So I advised her,

“Go back and sincerely apologize. Don’t pretend it was just anger. Don’t make excuses. Be truthful. Tell him exactly what happened and own your mistakes.”

She agreed.

Then she said,

“Ma… I don’t even have money to visit him.”

My heart melted.

I sent her money from my own account so she could go and see him.

Three days later, I checked on her.

“Hello… how did it go?”

No reply.

Till today, that message has never been answered. 😂

Now, I genuinely want to hear from you.

What do you think happened?

Do you think she only wanted financial help?

Do you think she became embarrassed after realizing I had seen through the real issue?

Or do you have another theory?

Let’s talk in the comments. 👇

The most embarrassing counseling session of my life… 😂

You will love this gist!

So, there was this lady who had been following me for a long time. She was part of my close WhatsApp community and had been learning from my relationship teachings for years.

One day, she sent me a message.

“Ma, my boyfriend has changed.”

I asked, “What happened?”

She said, “When he wasn’t doing well financially, he was always calling, checking on me, and making time for me. But now that he has a good job, he hardly picks my calls. Whenever I call, he says he’s busy. He’s just not the same person anymore.”

Something about the story didn’t sit right with me.

From my experience, a man who genuinely loves a woman doesn’t suddenly become distant simply because he starts making money. If anything, when a man who truly loves you begins to do better, he usually has more capacity to care, not less.

So I asked her another question.

“Tell me… what was your relationship like before he got this job?”

She hesitated.

Then she said,

“Well… we were fine at first, but I started giving him the cold shoulder. I even asked for a break because I felt he wasn’t doing enough with his life.”

Immediately, I knew there was more to this story than she had told me at the beginning.

And when she finally told me the full truth…

I almost fell off my chair. 😂

Part 2 is where the real gist begins.

If this offends you, then maybe it’s time to think again.

How do you explain why you deserve abuse?

How do you convince yourself that the flowers are enough to erase the bruise from the slap?

All for what?

A boyfriend?

A girlfriend?

You can leave.
But somehow, you always find a reason to stay.

You defend the person hurting you.
You get angry at the people trying to defend you.

How long do you think you can survive like that?

“He cheated because I wasn’t enough.”

“She broke my TV… I shouldn’t have made her angry.”

No.

Please leave.

Sometimes the problem isn’t that you don’t recognize the abuse.

Sometimes, it’s the fear of the unknown.

You keep choosing a familiar pain because you’re afraid of an unfamiliar future.

But hear this:

It is better to leave a certain evil in the hope of finding something better than to remain where your dignity, peace, and safety are slowly being destroyed.

Love should never cost you your self-worth.

If someone has to keep hurting you to keep you, that isn’t love.

Please… choose yourself before it’s too late.

What would you say to someone who keeps defending the person abusing them?

Nobody wants to admit this, but…

The married sometimes envy the freedom singles have.

The singles sometimes envy the companionship marriage brings.

Every stage has its blessings.
Every stage has its challenges.

No go use pressure kill yourself.

Your time will come.

Live your season well.

I’m rooting for you. ❤️

Do you agree, or do you think one stage is easier than the other?
