ZONE IS LEFT OUT

In recent years, a disturbing trend has emerged in our political landscape: many elected officials have elevated themselves to the status of deities, demanding worship and unquestioning adulation from the very citizens who entrusted them with power through the ballot. Far too often, these individuals fail to grasp the true meaning of the title "Honourable"—a designation that should embody integrity, humility, accountability, and selfless service rather than entitlement or arrogance.

It is profoundly unfortunate that the majority do not exhibit the qualities that such an honorific demands. Elected representatives are servants of the people, not overlords or gods to be revered. The era of mere propaganda and empty rhetoric has passed. We have entered an age where performance must be demonstrated through visible, tangible, and verifiable evidence of progress and good governance.

Should you serve with excellence and deliver meaningful results, the public will readily offer praise, recognition, and amplified support through credible media channels. However, when deception, self-enrichment, or betrayal of public trust become the order of the day, the truth will be laid bare for the world to see—no matter how powerful the individual or how elaborate the façade.

A fundamental change of approach is now imperative.

The community is watching—closely and unflinchingly.

Benue South Senatorial Race Intensifies as More Aspirants Join from Various Political Parties

The contest for the Benue South Senatorial seat has become increasingly competitive, with fresh aspirants from different political parties throwing their hats into the ring.
Amid the growing field of contenders, the Idoma people are expressing deep apprehension and are earnestly searching for a candidate they can truly trust. Having been repeatedly disappointed and betrayed in the past, the electorate is now more cautious than ever.
Stakeholders in Zone C are therefore being urged to pause, reflect critically, and conduct thorough research before endorsing any aspirant. The time has come to identify and support the right person who will genuinely represent the interest of the zone.

*Rejection of Mere Condemnations – We Demand Concrete Action to End Attacks on Idoma Communities*

It is disheartening to observe the recurring pattern: Governor Hyacinth Alia issues yet another condemnation following an attack on an Idoma community. The statement is the same, the incident is tragically familiar, and the suffering of our people continues unabated.

We, the Idoma Nation, categorically reject these routine condemnations. Words of sympathy and outrage, while noted, have proven insufficient. What follows such statements? Too often, nothing changes. These appear to be political gestures aimed at garnering public sympathy rather than addressing the root causes of insecurity.

Governor Alia, condemnations alone will not suffice. As the Chief Executive of Benue State, you possess the authority, resources, and constitutional responsibility to deploy the necessary tools and security measures to prevent and decisively halt these attacks. Every governor has the capacity to curb insurgency and criminality within their state—Benue must be no exception.

It is evident that many politicians enter office promising to resolve these crises, yet the ugly reality persists. True change will only come when we, as a people, demand accountability and when leaders prioritize decisive action over rhetoric.

May God bless the Idoma Nation.
May God bless Benue State.
May God bless Nigeria.
May God bless Africa.
May God bless all nations.

*Governor Hyacinth Alia: The Betrayal of Idoma Trust and the Urgent Call for Awakening*

Fellow Idoma sons and daughters, it is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of duty that I pen this critique as a voice from within our community. Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, once hailed by many as a man of God and a beacon of hope when he ascended to power in 2023, has tragically revealed himself as one of the most underwhelming and divisive leaders Benue State has seen in recent memory—particularly in his dealings with the Idoma nation.

The facts speak volumes. In the 2023 elections, the Idoma people of Benue South Senatorial District (Zone C) rallied massively behind Rev. Fr. Alia and the APC ticket. We voted in overwhelming numbers, driven by the belief that a clergyman turned politician would uphold justice, fairness, and equity across Benue's diverse ethnic groups. We trusted that our support would translate into inclusive governance, equitable distribution of appointments, infrastructure projects, and attention to our long-standing developmental needs. How wrong we were.

Today, the narrative is one of stark marginalization and neglect. Numerous credible reports and voices from within and outside our community—including groups like the Idoma Proactive Diaspora Coalition (IPDC)—have highlighted how major political appointments, key ministries, and developmental projects have disproportionately favored Tiv-dominated areas, while Idoma land has been sidelined. Rural roads, critical infrastructure, and high-level positions have largely bypassed Zone C, despite our massive electoral contribution. Critics, including prominent figures like Senator Abba Moro, have openly declared that no previous governor has shown such apparent disdain or neglect toward the Idoma people. The suppression of Idoma representation in government, as noted in early assessments of Alia's administration, borders on systematic exclusion.

Worse still is the role played by some of our own. A handful of gullible or self-serving Idoma individuals—politicians, appointees, and influencers—sold out the collective interest of the Idoma nation for personal crumbs. They campaigned vigorously, painted Alia as a messiah, and assured us that our votes would bring prosperity and inclusion. Instead, these enablers have watched as the governor deals "mesely" (miserly) with our people—offering token gestures while denying us substantive equity. Their betrayal has enabled this administration to exploit Idoma goodwill without accountability.

Governor Alia's performance overall has been underwhelming. While some may point to salary payments or isolated initiatives in other zones, the broader picture reveals a state still grappling with insecurity, economic stagnation, and unfulfilled promises. For Idoma communities, the neglect compounds existing challenges: poor roads, inadequate healthcare, limited educational opportunities, and a sense of political invisibility that has persisted for decades. No governor of Idoma descent has emerged in Benue's history, and under Alia, the prospects seem even dimmer.

As 2027 approaches, whispers abound that the governor plans to recycle the same playbook—courting the same gullible elements within Idoma land to secure votes for re-election or to advance his ambitions. He will likely dangle appointments, promises of projects, or ethnic rhetoric to divide and conquer once more. We must not fall for it again.

To my fellow Idoma people: It is time to wise up. Our votes are our power, not a commodity to be traded for personal gain. We must demand accountability, reject sellouts who prioritize self-interest over collective dignity, and unite across party lines to protect our interests. Support leaders who demonstrate genuine inclusion, not those who take our support for granted and repay it with marginalization.

The Idoma nation is resilient, proud, and deserving of respect. Let us no longer allow ourselves to be used as stepping stones. Governor Alia and his enablers must be held to account at the ballot box and beyond. The time for blind loyalty is over; the era of awakened vigilance has begun.

-Long live the Idoma nation!

-Long live Benue State—where equity must prevail for all!

*The Okanga Mirage: Why Philip Agbese’s So-Called “Cult Followership” Is Just Empty Drum Praise from Beneficiaries*

Chief Dr Philip Agbese may proudly wear the title “Okanga 1,” but the latest torrent of praise pouring out in his honour reads less like objective analysis and more like a paid-for praise song from those who have already eaten from his table. The claim that he commands the “largest support base” in Benue South, that a new Okanga Party of Nigeria would instantly become the biggest single party in the zone, and that he is an unbeatable “political bulldozer” who makes others tremble is classic Nigerian political fiction — the same hollow noise we hear every election cycle from politicians and their settled praise-singers.

Let us be blunt: genuine popularity does not need to be announced in Facebook posts and sponsored opinion pieces. It shows up in open polls, independent voter sentiment, and election results that do not rely on “settlement.” Agbese won his 2023 House seat under the APC banner in his immediate Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu constituency. That is commendable, but it does not translate into “cult followership” across the entire Benue South senatorial district. The zone has other strong voices — serving and former senators, influential elders, and grassroots structures that predate Okanga’s arrival on the scene. Crowds can be hired; loyalty bought with contracts, cash, and appointments is not the same as organic support.

The article itself gives the game away when it admits that “some are waiting for the governor to give them ticket plus money, some are waiting for Akume to help them.” Exactly. And who did Agbese himself publicly bow to just months ago? In August 2025 he declared without hesitation: “Anywhere Akume wants is where Benue will go in 2027.” So much for the “no shaking,” “one-man squad” who can “thumb his chest” and win anywhere he chooses. The self-styled bulldozer is actually driving in convoy behind Senator George Akume. That single statement collapses the entire myth of an independent political colossus

Worse still, the loudest cheerleaders are almost always the same category of people the original writer alludes to — individuals who have been “enriched” through one favour or another. In Nigerian politics this is standard operating procedure: the moment a lawmaker begins awarding contracts, sponsoring pilgrimages, or “empowering” youths with bags of money, a sudden army of “analysts” emerges to proclaim him the MVP of the dispensation. These are not supporters; they are beneficiaries protecting their meal ticket. Real constituents are asking harder questions: what landmark projects have been completed in the three LGAs since 2023? Where are the verifiable constituency reports beyond press releases?

Even at the national level, Agbese’s record is not the unblemished “loudest beat” promised for 2027. As Deputy Spokesman of the House, he has found himself in the middle of the embarrassing tax laws controversy, where Senator Ali Ndume publicly asked the House leadership to “call Agbese to order” over alleged discrepancies and public defence of the process. That is not the profile of a politician too big to be challenged; it is the profile of one still navigating internal party and legislative landmines.

Compare this to the 2023 Obidient movement the original article mockingly references. That was a genuine grassroots wave that needed no “enrichment” to mobilise millions. Agbese’s supposed empire, by contrast, requires constant media maintenance and financial lubrication to keep the drums beating. Remove the money, the titles, and the APC machinery, and the “material” suddenly looks far more ordinary.

By 2027 the music will indeed continue — but it will not be a solo performance by Okanga. Benue politics is shifting with defections, realignments, and the usual power-play between the governor, Akume, and other heavyweights. The electorate has grown wiser. They can smell the difference between a genuine movement and a well-funded echo chamber. The beneficiaries may keep shouting “no shaking,” but the average voter in Benue South is already shaking his head at another round of empty drum praise.

THE GREED OF SOME IDOMA ELITES: A BETRAYAL OF OUR COLLECTIVE DESTINY

It has taken considerable time and sober reflection to fully comprehend the intricate web of selfishness and opportunism that afflicts segments of our Idoma people. When one ventures to advocate earnestly for transparent, accountable, and people-centered governance in Idoma land, a certain cadre of self-appointed guardians—masquerading as custodians of our cultural ethos—swiftly brand the advocate as disrespectful to elders or disruptive to harmony.

This prompts a fundamental question: Who precisely are these individuals who arrogate to themselves the title of "Idoma elders"? What tangible contributions have they made to the advancement of the Idoma nation that justify such a lofty designation? The concept of eldership transcends mere chronology; age alone does not confer wisdom, maturity, or moral authority. An elder, in the truest African sense, embodies exemplary conduct, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to the collective good. Regrettably, some who claim this mantle comport themselves with the petulance and caprice of adolescents, prioritizing personal aggrandizement over communal welfare. They ought to be addressed and held to account accordingly.

In my interactions across Idoma communities, I have encountered many venerable individuals worthy of genuine respect—true patriarchs and matriarchs whose lives exemplify integrity and sacrifice. Yet, they remain a regrettable minority amid a preponderance of those who have commodified their influence.

Let us confront reality with unflinching logic: In your individual capacities—as politicians, technocrats, bureaucrats, or influencers—what enduring legacy have you bequeathed to the Idoma nation? Achievements amassed in distant lands or foreign climes do not substitute for transformative impact at home. Our political class has, time and again, bartered the collective interests of the Idoma people for ephemeral personal gains.

A glaring illustration lies in the perennial relegation of Idoma aspirations within Benue State's political architecture. The Tiv majority has entrenched itself as the perpetual custodian of the governorship—the apex of executive power—while Idoma sons and daughters are persistently consigned to secondary roles: deputy governor, secretary to the state government, or state party chairman. These positions, though not inconsequential, perpetuate a subservient dynamic rather than equitable partnership.

When voices of reason urged the rejection of such diminished roles—particularly the state party chairmanship, often dangled as a sop—many among our elites continued to lobby feverishly for them, driven by individual stomachs rather than collective strategy. Meanwhile, aspirants to deputy governorship or other adjunct positions compound the error. The result is a self-reinforcing cycle of marginalization: the Tiv have consolidated dominion over the governorship, positioning themselves as unchallenged stewards of the state, while we remain supplicants for crumbs from the master's table.

This is not mere happenstance; it is the fruit of calculated greed. Politicians who prioritize personal enrichment over ethnic equity sell their people short, trading dignity for transient favours. They betray the trust reposed in them by communities that have endured decades of exclusion—never producing a governor since Benue's creation nearly half a century ago, despite our demographic and cultural significance.

To those in positions of influence: Know that the Idoma nation watches intently. As you persist in this pattern of betrayal, reflect upon the inexorable truths that await every mortal: death or the frailties of old age. Either eventuality strips away the illusions of accumulated wealth and power; what remains is the legacy etched in the lives uplifted or the opportunities squandered.

The hour has come for the Great Idoma Nation to arise with resolute unity. No longer can we tolerate business as usual. We must harness our platforms, resources, intellect, wisdom, and every legitimate instrument at our disposal to dismantle the strongholds of internal sabotage and external domination. Let us roar like lions, not in empty rhetoric, but in coordinated action that demands equity, accountability, and self-determination.

*Cooming Soon: BRM REVEVALATION!*

Great Idoma Nation, arise!
Great prosperity for the Idoma Nation!
Great prosperity for Benue State!
Great prosperity for Nigeria!

Yours in service to truth and progress,
