The Super Falcons are set to have a new coach and technical crew before their 2028 Olympic qualifying campaign begins in October, according to National Sports Commission Director-General Bukola Olopade.

The development comes after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) asked Justine Madugu and his entire technical crew to step down following Nigeria’s disappointing WAFCON campaign and subsequent failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria’s first Olympic qualifying assignment is against Comoros, with the two-legged tie scheduled for October 5–13, 2026.

With the Olympic qualifiers fast approaching, the NFF now has very little time to make the right appointment. This time, Nigeria needs a coach with a clear tactical philosophy, strong technical competence and the capacity to get the best out of the wealth of talent available to the Falcons.

🚨 BREAKING: NFF ASK SUPER FALCONS TECHNICAL CREW TO STEP DOWN

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has reportedly directed members of the Super Falcons’ technical crew to step down from their positions with immediate effect.

Reports indicate that Coach Justin Madugu resigned earlier today, prompting the NFF to extend the directive to the remaining members of the technical crew.

While the technical crew must take responsibility for the team’s failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, this should not be where the matter ends.

There must be an honest and comprehensive review of the entire Super Falcons project β€” from preparation, player selection and tactics to administration, logistics, support structures and accountability.

Changing the coach without fixing the system only resets the cycle. Nigeria needs more than a new technical crew; it needs answers, accountability and structural reforms. πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬βš½
