FAR REACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF NICHOLAS MUTU: THE UNTOLD STORY......

The member representing the good people of Bomadi/Patani in the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu before now, gives little or no publication to his tremendous contributions to the people of his constituency. As a result of this,some constituents are unaware of his accomplishments.

Over the years, Nicholas Mutu have shown unwavering commitment to his constituents with his live changing programmes which spread across various spheres of life and cut across his .federal constituency.

Few persons in the opposition have been peddling falsehood against Nicholas Mutu, where they brandish him as a representative who have not performed up to expectations all because Mutu is not a media friendly person in near past of his representation. Mutu is one man that does not like putting his achievements on the mass and social media and this has made his opponents to undermine him despite his huge achievements.

Thank God the Nicholas Mutu Press is now here to right every wrong of the past and to showcase the good works he executed to the world. We will keep you on the right track as we continue to set the records straight.

I will share with us some impactful contributions of Rt. Hon. Nicholas Mutu that have received little or no mass media or social media attention in the past. Some of these positive programmes were visible, impactful and transformed the lives of several constituents. Hon. Nicholas Mutu is a silent achiever. He doesn't believe in making noise with his accomplishments.

Some of the life changing programmes carried out by Hon. Nicholas Mutu includes: Free medical outreach ,distribution of educational materials and desks to public schools, distribution of Keke napep to our youths, empowerment of artisans with starter packs and a whole lots more.

Empowerment of Artisans

In the year 2017, Hon. Nicholas Mutu distributed starter packs which contains hair dryers, sewing machines, grinding machines,generators, clippers, etc, to fashion designers, hairdressers,make up artists,barbers and other existing artisans. The programme was designed to lift constituents out of poverty. The programme achieved it's objective as some of these artisans businesses were expanded over the years.

Empowerment of Youths

In the year 2019, Nicholas Mutu distributed a significant number of Keke Napep to youths in both Patani and Bomadi Local Government Areas. Due to the huge success of this Keke napep programme and the impact it had on the youth in 2019, and in consolidating this achievement, Nicholas Mutu repeated the programme in the year 2020 by distributing another set of Keke napep to a large number of constituents. It doesn't stop there. Mutu again distributed another set of Keke napep in 2023 to make our youths self - reliant and be self independent.

Distribution of Educational Materials

Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu, distributed notebooks, textbooks, stationeries, desks, chairs,etc to primary and secondary public schools in his constituency to encourage teaching and learning in our schools. Promoting educational activities has been a major priority of Mutu. And in carrying out this initiative, the best pupils and students in each class were encouraged to improve on their Nicholas Mutu understands that school children are the future leaders and investing in them to acquire good knowledge is paramount.

Free Medical Outreach

Health they say is wealth. Hon. Nicholas Mutu have successfully carried out various medical outreach in Patani and Bomadi Local Government Areas. In the course of this medical outreach, teeth,eye , anaemia, fibroids, and other operations were carried out for free. Constituents down with fewer,maleria and different bouts of ailments and sicknesses were all attended to. Free drugs, concave and convex lenses, etc were distributed to patients .It was a wide range medical programme that covers almost all medical cases.

This achievements highlighted above are stories that most constituents have not read on the pages of newspaper or other mass and social media outlets. This is just ample of his achievements . Mutu have accomplished a lot in the course of his representation.

2027: Conspiracy, Propaganda and the Attempt to Sway Gov Oborevwori in the Bomadi/Patani Political Arena

*The Patani Agenda Group: A Failure from Inception

The contest for the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections has unmistakably commenced, led by those who have persistently contested and been repeatedly rejected by the people of the constituency over the years. Their instrument, the "Patani Agenda Group for 2027," an errand group that has embraced propaganda as its watchword, has been making futile efforts by hurling insults at the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu on social media, much to the dismay of discerning constituents. These elements are seeking external influence from higher political authorities beyond the constituency to REMOVE the lawmaker, rather than through the ELECTORAL process. The Patani Agenda Group's rants on social media, rife with falsehoods and misinformation, is an endeavour already doomed from the outset.

Now, the moment has arrived when these very individuals, who have persistently challenged the incumbent and consistently failed, have embarked on a campaign fraught with character assassination, insults and provocation. These tactics are the chosen instruments of the self-proclaimed Patani Agenda Group 2027 and their sponsors, a clear indication of failure even before the actual contest begins.

It is on record that Hon. Basil Ganagana, a five-time contender for the same seat and leader of the Delta Unity Group (DUG) in Patani LGA—a campaign organization that canvassed support for Dr. David Edevbie against Gov Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2023 Governorship elections—is a prominent patron of the Patani Agenda Group, who is poised to vie for the sixth time. Dr. Chris Ekiyor, who previously contested against Mutu and rallied support for Senator Ovie Omo-Agege against Gov Oborevwori in the 2023 elections, is similarly a benefactor of the movement. Another aspirant for the Bomadi/Patani seat in 2027, Dr. Louis Otuisi, a nephew of former Deputy Governor Dr. Kingsley Otuaro (still in PDP),who likewise campaigned for Dr. Otuaro against Gov. Oborevwori in the 2023 general elections, also sponsors the agenda. Nonetheless, Mutu unwaveringly supported and worked towards Gov. Oborevwori's victory at the polls.

These same individuals are now looking for an avenue to influence Gov. Oborevwori into the politics of Bomadi/Patani. They have resorted to making efforts to persuade the governor and prominent government officials to prevent Mutu from contesting, which is utterly absurd and laughable. Governor Oborevwori, a sagacious leader, I trust, will not succumb to any of their antics, a scenario that is indeed the irony of the moment.

Furthermore, financing media outlets to disseminate falsehood and slander, and the engagement in a campaign of calumny against the incumbent are signs that the Patani Agenda Group and their sponsors have nothing to offer the people of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency. These Patani serial contestants, having contested against the incumbent lawmaker in several occasions and been rejected by the people, should realize that their current voyage is best described as self-deception, as the people of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency will not be swayed by their uncultured politics.

Regarding Mutu, I must assert unequivocally that his popularity, charisma, performance, philanthropy and goodwill have been thoroughly proven, thus earning him the enduring support and acceptance of the Bomadi/Patani constituents at the polls over the years.

Dear Patani LGA, defeat is imminent 2027 when our emissary's for the House of Representatives are no match for the incumbent Rt. Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu's experience, political reach, track record, performance and vision for our constituency's growth.

Worse still, the three of them presents no strategic posture for our constituency in view of 2031 Governorship from Delta south!

*AN OBJECTIVE VIEW OF THE QUESTION OF ZONING AND THE PHANTOM ROTATION OF THE SEAT OF THE BOMADI/PATANI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY*

There are claims from some quarters in the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency; these claims are centered on what they call "Zoning", some term theirs "rotational movement". The aberration in all these agitations is that, the agents or principals championing and bankrolling them are trying to ENFORCE what is not in existence. Its like, you trying to build a castle without requisite provision for the foundation!

I will explore two hypothesis in this piece, they are:

H1: Is there a Zoning arrangement in the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency?

H2: Is there term limitation in regards to National Assembly seats in Nigerias 1999 constitution(see section 68 of the Constitution)?

To explore the first hypothesis; I will like to state that there is no such thing as Zoning or rotational arrangement that was discussed, endorsed and affirmed by the two sister LGAs. This is why the likes of Chief Chris Ekiyor, Peres Omoun and Hon. Basil Ganagana all from Patani have over the years contested with the incumbent who is from Bomadi, their sister LGA.

In all of the past elections the Patani aspirants contested with the incumbent from Bomadi were all fierce because all the aspirants and candidates gave their best. It is by the grace of God and the goowill of the people enjoyed by RT. Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu that is always giving him victories in all the contests.

After seeing the illustration above, is it proper for some people to now ask to enforce a rotation that is not in place? A phantom rotation that you have not respected! You can't enforce what is not in existence because it makes you appear as though you are not guided. There is no rotational arrangement in the constituency, and that is why we have been having contestants from both LGAs vying for the seat over the years. The scenario will not change even in the coming election; interested aspirants from both LGAs will go to the polls as enshrined in the constitution, and the will of the people will prevail as usual.

Section 68 of the 1999 constitution as amended, talks about tenure limitation of elective offices where National Assembly and State Assemblies are exempted from tenure limitations. This underscore the fact that, as far as the people decides, one can be returned as many times he/she wishes to contest. This provision of the Constitution is the reason people like Sen. Ahmad Lawan (Yobe North), RT Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu (Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency), Hon. Wole Oke (Obokun/Oriade), Hon. Alhassan Doguwa (Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency), Sen. Ali Ndume (Borno South), Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South), Sen. Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Sen. Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central), Hon. Idris Wase (Wase Federal Constituency), Hon. Muktar Betara (Biu/Bayo/Shani/Kwaya Kusa Federal Constituency),and others have been in the National Assembly serving their people in various capacities and are being returned without hindrance.

It is explicitly stated above with relevant examples that the constitution empowers all qualified citizens to seek for National Assembly seats as many times they so wish if their constituents elects them in the elections. With this provision, whoever is clamouring for another not to contest election in this regard is only trying to trample on the constitutional rights of others or being a meddlesome Mattie and a busybody.

Conclusively, no one has the right to ask for another not to contest an election unless the Constitution says so. All sons and daughters of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency are constitutionally empowered to vie for the Federal Constituency position in the National Assembly.

Between Hon. Mutu, the Patani Agenda Group and Pararan News

BOMADI—It is appalling to hear the seasonal cries and wailings of a certain group of people in Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency, especially prior to or during the time of political campaigns in the constituency, and which has already started ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Well, it is part of the game and many are cashing out of it by being at the forefront of crying wolf, so to say, and I believe the electorate will once again determine their preferred candidates in the 2027 general elections, which are often at variance with the campaign of calumny and the insults ongoing on both the mainstream and social media.

It is on record that the lawmaker representing Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency, Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu, was ELECTED by the people of the constituency in 1999, which office he has been holding till date through RE-ELECTIONS by the same constituents over the years, apparently as a result of his performance, charisma and dealings/political relationship with his people back home.

TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT, FROM 1999 TILL DATE, THE SEAT OF THE PATANI/BOMADI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONTESTED BY ASPIRANTS/CANDIDATES FROM BOTH PATANI AND BOMADI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS, WHICH IS AN UNDISPUTABLE FACT: Hon. Basil Ganagana (Patani LGA), Chief Chris Ekiyor (Patani LGA), Hon. Peres Omoun (Patani LGA), Dr. Felix Tuodolo (Bomadi LGA), Hon. William Angadi (Bomadi LGA), and Hon. Tam Obriki (Bomadi LGA) contested against Hon. Mutu over the years, both at party primaries and on opposition party platforms during general elections, but the man emerged as the people's choice in the various contests.

Now, a group calling themselves Patani Agenda Group in collaboration with other groups is out for a CAMPAIGN OF BITTERNESS over the 2027 general elections with the claim that Hon. Mutu has been in the seat for too long, as if he elected himself there; venting anger, threatening and insulting the lawmaker on various media platforms, in contravention of the standard political campaign processes and engagements.

It is no longer news that the Patani Agenda Group has officially kick-started the 2027 political campaigns in the country with castigations and threats rather than the normal processes of wooing the electorate with campaign manifestos.

Today, I watched a farce on Pararan Mock News about Hon. Mutu, probably sponsored by the same groups that have started the 2027 campaigns, castigating Hon. Mutu for being in the seat for too long. Well, Pararan Mock News is known for coming online with information fed to him without him asking salient questions for balanced reporting, and after which news reports he often runs into issues regarding libel and defamation.

Pararan Mock News does not care to know why the lawmaker was ELECTED after every four years, he did not ask to know if the lawmaker had ever been challenged at the poll by aspirants from Patani and what happened, and he did not ask to know whether there is an existing sharing formula between Patani and Bomadi concerning the seat. He only collects money and spews out whatever nonsense he wishes to on his platform, which is unfortunate.

There is no gainsaying that, as far as the seat of Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency is concerned, there have always been contests between Bomadi and Patani aspirants/candidates in every election year, and Hon. Mutu has been having the upper hand. In fact, the people of Patani local government area voted for him more than even the people of Bomadi in the last election, and I challenge Pararan Mock News to find out this fact from whoever he got his news, if they would open up to him. The Patani Agenda Group re-echoed this fact when their campaign group visited Kpakiama community in Bomadi local government area, last week.

On performance back home, Hon. Mutu has done very well in influencing developmental projects in both Bomadi and Patani local government areas. In fact, over 85% of the roads crisscrossing Patani, headquarters of Patani local government area, and link roads in surrounding communities were influenced in the area by Hon. Mutu. They are NDDC roads influenced in the area by the lawmaker. Bomadi local government has equal representation of such roads, coupled with his youth training and empowerment programmes, The Hon. Mutu Free Medicare Outreach (yearly), scholarship for students, philanthropy and special intervention projects.

So, the Patani Agenda Group's crying wolf is not tenable, and those of us from the constituency understand the politics here better than outsiders who are merely fed with defamatory news materials and epistles to gain sympathy from the undiscerning public.

In a nutshell, Hon. Mutu has neither committed any evil against Patani nor any group. He is there on the people's mandate.

They are just unnecessarily making a big deal out of our federal constituency. There is NO ROTATION OF POWER ARRANGEMENT between Bomadi and Patani as regards the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency.

Crying to media houses begging stakeholders to stop Mutu is just laughable. How low can you go?

I think the best you can do as a good supporter is to campaign for the person you feel should replace Nick. Stop being cry cry babies because Mutu is not stopping your favorite candidate from running against him.

Again, the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria backed Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu to seek another term and even more. Mutu is not stopping anyone and he is UNSTOPPABLE.

A RESPONSE TO THE “PATANI AGENDA 2027” CAMPAIGN OF DISTRACTION

INTRODUCTION

We have read with keen interest the recent publication by a group calling itself the Movement for the Rotation of Power (Patani Agenda 2027), which sought to cast aspersions on the person and long service of Rt. Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu, Member representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Ordinarily, we would have ignored their propaganda. However, because their letter was mischievously directed to Your Excellency and the leadership of our great party, the APC, it has become necessary to set the records straight.

1. THE PEOPLE, NOT ELITES, KEEP RETURNING MUTU

Seven consecutive victories at the polls cannot be explained away by accident, imposition, or manipulation. They are the clearest reflection of the people’s will, freely expressed through the ballot.

Every election cycle, aspirants from both Bomadi and Patani LGAs contest. If the people continue to prefer Mutu, then democracy has spoken. To dismiss this as “monopoly” is to insult the intelligence of voters who, time and again, have judged his record, accessibility, and stability above that of his challengers.

2. EXPERIENCE IS AN ASSET, NOT A LIABILITY

Those who mock Mutu’s long service ignore the tangible benefits of seniority in the National Assembly:

Influence in Abuja: Senior lawmakers command respect, chair committees, and attract federal projects.

Stability: Mutu has ensured Bomadi/Patani’s relevance in Abuja politics, while newcomers spend years learning the ropes.

Continuity: The constituency enjoys a steady hand that understands its peculiar challenges.

Longevity is not stagnation. It is leverage.

3. ROTATION IS NOT SUPERIOR TO DEMOCRACY

Rotation of power is not enshrined in the Constitution; it is at best a gentleman’s arrangement. What the law recognizes is the supremacy of votes.

It is important to note that this position is not anywhere near the true position of the Patani people, as Rt. Hon. Nicholas Mutu enjoys the support of the vast majority of Patani people who value his contribution to the development of the constituency. It is a position held by the minority of the minority, sponsored by serial losers that should be dismissed with the wave of the hand.

4. MUTU’S DEVELOPMENTAL FOOTPRINTS

Contrary to smear campaigns, Mutu has consistently delivered:

Education: Scholarships and learning support for students.

Healthcare & Electrification: Rural health and power projects.

Youth Empowerment: Job facilitation, skill acquisition, and empowerment schemes.

Peace Building: Acting as a stabilizing figure in the constituency.

5. EXPERIENCE IS POWER: LESSONS FROM NATIONAL LEADERS

Nigeria’s democracy has repeatedly rewarded long-serving legislators:

Femi Gbajabiamila: Surulere Rep (2003–2019), rose to Speaker.

Ahmad Lawan: In the National Assembly since 1999, became Senate President in 2019.

David Mark: Two decades in the Senate, eight years as Senate President.

James Manager, Enyinnaya Abaribe, and others also served for decades, to the benefit of their people.

If these leaders were celebrated for their longevity, why should Mutu be vilified? His seniority positions Bomadi/Patani as a respected voice in Abuja.

6. WHY GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI AND APC SHOULD IGNORE DISTRACTIONS AND ADOPT THE MUTU MODEL OF REPEATED GRASSROOT VICTORIES

Your Excellency, Nicholas Mutu remains the most reliable and tested political asset of Bomadi/Patani:

He commands grassroots loyalty across both LGAs.

He guarantees peace and cohesion during elections.

He has the structure and capacity to ensure victory in 2027.

To abandon him for the sake of appeasing a loud but unpopular minority is to risk ceding the constituency to the opposition. The APC’s strength lies in winning candidates, not experiments in sentiment.

7. CONCLUSION

The people of Bomadi/Patani have consistently chosen Rt. Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu for over two decades - not by force, not by accident, but by conviction. He has earned their trust through accessibility, stability, and results.

We therefore urge Your Excellency and the leadership of our party to ignore the distractions of the so-called Patani Agenda 2027 group, who have failed repeatedly at the polls and now seek relevance through blackmail.

Democracy is the will of the people - and in Bomadi/Patani, the people have spoken seven times. In 2027, they will speak again.

As Gbajabiamila, Lawan, and David Mark proved, legislative longevity is a blessing, not a curse. Mutu is no different. He is our blessing - and our people will keep choosing him.
