South African sensation Tyla has done it again! At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in New Jersey, she clinched the award for Best Afrobeats with her hit song “Push 2 Start”.

This makes it her second consecutive win in the category after bagging the same award in 2024 with “Water”.

But beyond the trophy, Tyla’s victory has sparked global conversations, many argue that her sound leans more towards Amapiano than Afrobeats. Once again, she used her platform to remind the world that Africa is not just one sound, but a rich blend of many genres.

She also stole the spotlight on the red carpet, rocking a vintage 1993 Chanel top styled as a micro-mini dress, paired with sparkling Pandora jewels.

An Empty Chair Can Still Hold A Thousand Prayers

There was once a young man named Daniel who loved his grandmother dearly. She was his biggest cheerleader, always reminding him that no matter how hard life became, “storms don’t last forever.”

When Daniel was in university, life hit him hard. His father lost his job, his grades dropped, and he often thought of giving up. But every evening when he called his grandmother, she would say, “I’ve kept a chair by my window. That’s where I sit and pray for you. So even when you feel like you’re fighting alone, remember; I’m there, in that chair.”

Years passed. Daniel graduated, got a job, and began building a life of his own. But then came the phone call he dreaded, his grandmother had passed away.

At the funeral, Daniel walked into her room. By the window sat the same old wooden chair. Worn, creaky, but still there. He sat in it, tears streaming down his face. For the first time, he realized that her prayers had been carrying him all along.

From that day forward, whenever Daniel felt overwhelmed, he would close his eyes and imagine himself sitting in that chair. Not because the chair itself had power, but because it reminded him of the love, faith, and strength that never dies, even when people we love are no longer with us.

DAY 69: Today, Real-Emmiwuks stopped at Phebe Grey Memorial Orphanage in Liberia. His journey isn’t just about cycling, it’s about hope for orphans, the vulnerable, and those in IDP camps.

He reminded the children that they are valuable, loved, and destined for greatness. Special thanks to the Sinkor Riders for standing with him.
