Why It Would Be ‘Terrible Mistake’ To Replace FIFA’s Infantino — Trump.

United States President Donald Trump voiced strong support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Monday as the football chief navigates mounting scrutiny surrounding accusations of a workplace relationship and a controversial, aborted private investment proposal.

“FIFA would be making a terrible mistake if, for any reason, they even considered replacing President Gianni Infantino,” Trump stated via a social media post on Truth Social, describing the Italian-Swiss administrator as exceptional while asserting that he managed the most lucrative and triumphant World Cup tournament in history by a wide margin.

“If he is gone, it will never be as successful or profitable again!”

Trump’s vocal endorsement stands in sharp opposition to the position adopted by US Soccer, which released a joint critical statement alongside Canada Soccer and various football federations across Central America and the Caribbean.

Infantino, who prepares to face a leadership contest next March, has rejected all accusations of misconduct, while FIFA leadership has rallied behind the embattled president, characterizing the criticism as a deliberate and continuous campaign by detractors aiming to destabilize the institution.

Additional international football confederations, such as the Confederation of African Football and South American governing body CONMEBOL, have aligned with Trump in backing Infantino.

The controversy stems from a floated FIFA proposal aiming to generate upwards of $4.2 billion derived from a $20 billion valuation for a newly conceived commercial entity titled the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), which was intended to manage premier competitions like the World Cup and Club World Cup.

Infantino encountered escalating hostility, including internal pushback within the organization, regarding his management of the venture, prompting intensified calls for his resignation after he ultimately scrapped the initiative.

Infantino secured the “full support” of FIFA’s senior executive directors during a meeting in Morocco last Wednesday, while the global football authority issued an apology for the turmoil sparked by the abandoned plan to introduce private capital into the World Cup.

Confronting widespread condemnation in the wake of the scrapped initiative, top FIFA officials conceded that mistakes occurred while reaffirming their backing for the beleaguered president following emergency talks.

In an official release on Wednesday, the executive leadership recognized “that errors were also made after the proposal was leaked to media.”

The organization explained that if the initiative had cleared approval, the project could have delivered a one-off payout of $20 million to each of FIFA’s 211 member associations early in 2027, alongside expanding funding allocations for the 2027-2030 period from $8 million to $20 million.

Far from serving as an incentive, the proposal triggered intense outrage, leading European governing body UEFA to threaten a boycott of the sport’s premier showcase, the World Cup.

Two weeks prior, Infantino officially rescinded the controversial strategy.

Davido Sends Message To Trump Days To Osun Election.

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump to pay attention to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, expressing concerns over possible violence and disruption of the electoral process.

Davido made the appeal in a post shared on X on Tuesday, calling on the United States and the international community to monitor the election and encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that their votes are respected.

“President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.

“There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process,” Davido wrote.

The singer urged authorities to ensure that residents of the state were able to exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear.

“Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear,” he said.

Davido also appealed to the international community to pay close attention to the election, which is scheduled for August 15.

“I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected,” he wrote.

He stressed that his priority was to prevent violence and ensure a credible electoral process.

“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” Davido said.

The latest appeal follows his earlier warning that he would seek Trump’s intervention if anything went wrong during the Osun election.

Davido made the remark during a live session with comedian Carter Efe, saying he would involve the US president if the electoral process was compromised.

Davido, who is a nephew of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has openly supported his uncle’s re-election bid and has been vocal about the need for a peaceful election.

Earlier, he urged political actors and Osun residents to reject violence, intimidation and provocation ahead of the poll, saying voters’ choices must be respected.

The Osun governorship election is expected to be contested by Adeleke and other candidates, including the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and the African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam.

Every single day, Nigerians consume 45,800 Terabytes of data. Even if you calculate it at a cheap rate of 200 Naira per Gigabyte, Nigerians are spending 9.8 billion Naira every day just on internet data. This doesn't even count the money spent on calls, texts, or other fees.

It is a disgrace that a country like Nigeria does not have its own national telecommunications company to keep this money in the country. Instead, foreign companies like MTN and Airtel are draining billions of Naira every day while Nigerian leaders do nothing. Anyone with a brain should realize this is not normal.

Why Nigerian Airlines May Go Extinct Within 30 Days – Onyema.

Domestic carriers in Nigeria could shut down operations within the next month unless the Federal Government takes immediate steps to resolve severe economic pressures facing the aviation sector, according to Allen Onyema, Vice Chairman of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and Chairman of Air Peace.

Speaking in Lagos at the book launch of Pathways, Pilgrimage & Destiny: The Biography of Alhaji Muneer Bankole, the founder of Med-View Airline, Onyema highlighted the deep financial strains suffocating local carriers.

He noted that the business environment is plagued by soaring operating expenses, heavy regulatory levies, and multiple financial obligations.
Going into aviation is not a piece of cake. It is an industry that is not very rewarding. It is capital-intensive, yet less rewarding. Today, we are facing a phase that poses existential threats. Except something drastic is done very quickly within the next 30 days, a lot of airlines might go extinct,” Onyema said.

The warning arrives amid mounting anxiety among operators regarding the rising cost of jet fuel, difficulties in securing foreign exchange, high maintenance expenses, and multiple statutory charges.

Onyema specifically targeted plans by aviation unions to picket carriers over unpaid remittances of the five percent Ticket Sales Charge (TSC), cautioning that such actions could paralyze domestic flight schedules nationwide.

He emphasized solidarity among operators, stating that carriers would unite if any single airline were targeted.

“If they picket any airline, others will go because there’s no need for that. There is nowhere in the world that government agencies use unions to talk about issues of debt.”

The five percent TSC is a mandatory fee collected by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on all domestic tickets to fund various regulatory bodies, including the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, and Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau.

Although the NCAA recently granted a 90-day deferment on advance payment guarantees meant to secure these funds, operators argue that the cumulative tax burden remains unsustainable.

“The airlines are not against helping the government generate revenue. But no airline in the world is taxed directly for revenue. The airlines indirectly provide revenue for the government,” Onyema explained.

Over the past three decades, more than 50 domestic airlines have collapsed in Nigeria, underscoring the long-term fragility of the aviation market.

Onyema criticized the lack of tangible backing from authorities, pointing out that historical struggles continue to repeat themselves.

“Everybody pities Nigerian airlines, yet nobody wants to do anything about their situation,” he remarked.

With aviation expenses largely tied to foreign currencies and operators continuously cutting flight frequencies or borrowing funds simply to purchase fuel, the AON continues to push for direct intervention from the presidency and a comprehensive review of all industry-related taxes and charges to ensure the survival of domestic air travel.

“Open Strait Of Hormuz Or …….” – Trump Sends Warning To Iran.

US President Donald Trump stated that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could arrive as early as Wednesday, though he cautioned that Iran would face severe military consequences if the talks collapsed.

Movement through this critical oil and gas corridor has remained a major obstacle in negotiations and triggered fresh clashes following an April ceasefire.

Tehran has increased its control over the waterway, seeking to manage transit and levy tolls—authority it did not hold prior to the conflict that began on February 28.
Trump noted on Tuesday that an accord with Iran could materialize tomorrow or the next day, informing reporters in California that negotiators had a very good day.

Earlier statements carried a much sharper warning. “The strait is going to be open very soon, or they’re going to get hit very hard — and then the strait’s going to be open,” Trump remarked during an interview with Fox News, adding, “All you can do is fight your way out.”

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also indicated to CNBC that there is a chance we may have a deal by Wednesday or Thursday.

Highlighting ongoing risks in the region, a crew member was reported missing on Tuesday after a merchant vessel was struck by a projectile in the strait, while an Indian vessel sank in the Red Sea following an unattributed strike.

Echoing a familiar cycle, Trump threatened last week to strike Iran “very hard,” potentially targeting civilian infrastructure, before softening his stance and suggesting an agreement was close.

While Tehran’s foreign ministry has denied holding direct talks with Washington, Trump maintained that discussions are active.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed on Tuesday that the United States is participating in negotiations involving Oman and Iran to boost traffic through the route.

According to Axios, the US, Iran, and Oman are approaching a 60-day interim agreement for safe passage, which Washington hoped to unveil on Wednesday.

Qatar, acting as a mediator, reported that diplomatic initiatives are active even though no direct bilateral talks are scheduled, with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani discussing regional de-escalation with Trump by phone.

Washington’s broader objectives involve reopening the strait alongside the denuclearisation of Iran, a process Trump acknowledged could take a little while.

Previously labeling Tehran duplicitous for denying negotiations, Trump asserted that a US counter-blockade against Iranian ports would persist “unless a Deal, or Total Surrender, is accomplished.”

More than five months into a costly conflict, Iran continues launching missiles and drones against US, allied, and commercial targets.

Early Tuesday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency reported that an unidentified cargo ship was hit by an unknown projectile near the Omani coast in the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran continues enforcing a de facto blockade, requiring ships to coordinate passages.

Under the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, the cost of petrol has become the cost of everything. When Crude Oil price jumps abroad, your transport fare jumps the next morning in Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, and all parts of the country. Also, when there is supply disruption, due to the American-Iranian war overseas, petrol queues return here and businesses shut down.

Furthermore, this is happening, because for the past years, the government has chosen borrowing to consume, instead of planning to protect Nigerians.

However, His Excellency, former Vice President and 2027 Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, will completely change that.

At the heart of it, Atiku’s Energy Policy is called "Fuel Security and Price Stability", and it is built around one goal: Protecting your pocket from global disruption.

First, Atiku will build and maintain National Strategic Oil Reserves to global standard. This is like a Food Bank, but for fuel. Therefore, when there is war, a Refinery problem, or any price shock in the world, Nigeria will have fuel in storage to release and keep every Petrol Filling Station across the country, open. With Atiku, no Nigerian will spend 6 hours in a queue again, because of problems that happened far away outside the country.

In addition, Atiku will also use those Reserves to cushion price shocks, before they reach ordinary Nigerians.

Meanwhile, under President Tinubu today, petrol can be ₦1,200 this week, and ₦1,400 next month; with no explanation to the citizens.

Consequently, the Atiku plan under the ADC, will deploy from our buffer when international prices spike, so that the full increase does not land on the citizens at once. As a result, this means that keke riders, bus drivers and market women, can plan their businesses. It also means that the cost of moving food from the Farm to the Market will not double overnight, because the price of diesel jumped overnight.

Beyond that, Atiku also understands that over 40 percent of Nigerian businesses run on generators, because of the persistent Power problems. Due to this problem, POS Operators, Welders, Cold Room Owners and Bakeries, are either closing or increasing their prices every month, because petrol price is unstable. Thus, Atiku’s plan will stabilise supply and prices, so that businesses can stay open, hire people and not transfer every cost to the citizens. This is the great difference between President Tinubu’s wasteful spending, and Atiku’s people-first economics.

Finally, this will be funded by cutting waste, not by adding more debt for our children. Specifically, the money currently programmed for SUVs and projects with no locations, will be redirected by the President Atiku administration to Storage, Refinery maintenance and Reserves, that work for the citizens.

At the end of the day, this is not about barrels. It is about the citizens getting to work without spending half of our salaries on transport. It is about food not becoming more expensive, because the price of diesel went up overnight. It is about our children having peace of mind at home.

In conclusion, this is Atiku's 2027 commitment to Nigerians under the ADC. A Nigeria where fuel security means family security. A Nigeria protected, because Atiku will build buffers for us. A Nigeria where government plans ahead, so the citizens do not have to suffer later.
