SOLOMON EWUGA:
THE PASSING OF A LION IN THE LAND!
The untimely passing to Glory of Senator Solomon Ewuga has left our people in grief and anxiety.
He was a brave and courageous leader full of passion and drive towards whatever goal he believed in!
From a humble background, Sen Ewuga rose through dint of hard work, dedication, and conviction to attain heights in leadership at various levels in the service of our nation.
He was a man full of drive and passion, which was often abused by political opponents and allies alike. Once he was convinced and took a position on a political project, he would take a plunge to pursue it without looking back.
His remarkable energy and wide network of friends across the nation saw him rise to different positions of responsibility in the service of Nigeria.
He was highly educated and learned and very fierce in pursuit of his life goals. He was a man of speed and action. He had no dull moment, no matter the challenges he faced in life.
In Eggon land, Sen Ewuga was a political phenomenon who rose to become one of the principalities in the politics of Nasarawa state.
His drive to lead his people often took him into political alliances with wily actors who wouldn’t reciprocate his trust and goodwill!
As a result, he was rigged out of many opportunities to lead both through the electoral process and in governance by ‘friends and allies’ who had different intentions for collaborating with him.
From 2011 onwards, Sen Ewuga went through storms and frustration from those he helped to power who wouldn’t keep any agreements or even empower him from the common proceeds of political victories achieved mostly through his support and boundless energy.
Sen Ewuga remained active through all phases of his political career no matter the circumstances. Even as his ill health debilitated his drive, he remained on the go in pursuit of the opportunity to serve the nation as the National Chairman of his Political Party.
When I visited him a few days before his last trip to Egypt, I was dumfounded by the pain he was going through; yet his eyes were full of life and hope.
We held hands and prayed together for his recovery and safe return. Unfortunately, this was not to be as he succumbed to this last bout of ill health, which he had borne with equanimity for years!
The Eggon nation and the people of Nasarawa State have lost a Lion at a difficult time of sustained pressures on all fronts against our liberties and political space.
An Iroko has fallen in our land!
May the Lord raise more Lions in the Savannah for the pursuit of our political preservation and dignity.
The Lord repose his noble soul with the Saints in Glory IJN!
