HANDING AND TAKING OVER CEREMONY HELD FOR MAN O' WAR NIGERIA FCT COMMAND

Abuja, Nigeria – May 16, 2026

The Man O’ War Nigeria, FCT Command, has formally conducted its handing and taking over ceremony at the C<C Headquarters in Abuja, marking the official assumption of office by the new Commander, MC Amb. Rachel Ikumapayi, FWIP.

The ceremony was attended by senior officers, officers, key stakeholders, and invited guests. The immediate past Commander, *MC Amb. Dambo Mohammed,* was present to officially hand over leadership, symbolizing a smooth and disciplined transition within the Command.

In her inaugural address, MC Amb. Rachel Ikumapayi, FWIP expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in her leadership and acknowledged the contributions of her predecessor. She assured that her administration would consolidate on the achievements already recorded while introducing a more result-oriented approach.

“This role is not about title. It is about duty, and I do not take it lightly,” she stated. “Going forward, this command will be defined by three things: accountability, action, and partnership. We will hold ourselves to a higher standard, show up for the communities we serve, and work with every stakeholder who shares the goal of a safer FCT.”

Making history as the first female Commander of the FCT Command, she emphasized the need for a shift from routine operations to innovative and impactful service delivery. She made it clear that complacency would not be tolerated, urging officers to embrace change, discipline, and responsibility.

She further charged all personnel to align with the vision of the new administration, stating that collective effort and commitment would be critical to achieving meaningful progress. “We must work together to build a Command that people can trust and respect—one that delivers real impact. Let this be the chapter people will point to and say, ‘That’s when things changed.’”

The ceremony underscored the organization’s commitment to continuity, discipline, and strong leadership. It also reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to deepen collaboration with community stakeholders and strengthen its role in promoting safety, youth development, and national service within the Federal Capital Territory.

FCT COMMANDER HIGHLIGHTS IMPACT OF INSECURITY ON FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS DURING RADIO TALK SHOW

Abuja, Nigeria – May 8, 2026

The FCT Commander of Man O’ War Nigeria, MC AR Ikumapayi, FWIP, today featured as a guest on Vision FM 92.1 Abuja during a one-hour live talk show focused on the topic: “To what extent can insecurity affect free and fair elections in Nigeria.”

Speaking during the program, the Commander emphasized that while free, fair, and credible elections are essential to democratic growth, prevailing insecurity across the nation poses a serious threat to the integrity of the electoral process. According to her, “Insecurity can limit free participation as armed groups and unscrupulous elements may hijack electoral processes, thereby scaring voters away from exercising their constitutional rights.”

She further noted that insecurity could compromise the fairness of elections through voter exclusion, vote manipulation, and irregularities in verification processes. “This ultimately endangers the credibility of electioneering in Nigeria,” she stated.

Highlighting another critical concern, the Commander explained that insecurity can distort the political playing field by enabling voter intimidation and creating unfair advantages for certain political actors. “Such conditions can significantly discredit the outcome and public trust in elections,” she added.

However, she also pointed out that the strategic deployment of security personnel during elections can enhance orderliness and boost voter confidence. She stressed that visible security presence reassures citizens of their safety while participating in the democratic process. In this regard, she advocated for the inclusion of Man O’ War Nigeria personnel, stating that “if given the opportunity, Man O’ War can lend credible support in creating a secure and conducive atmosphere for free and fair elections.”

In her concluding remarks, MC AR Ikumapayi encouraged Nigerians to actively participate in elections, noting that “democracy thrives on the mandate of the people, and legitimacy is derived from active citizen participation.” She reaffirmed the commitment of Man O’ War Nigeria to promoting peaceful electoral processes, adding that “we will continue to preach and support violence-free elections across the country.”

The appearance underscores the FCT Command’s ongoing commitment to national development, civic responsibility, and community-based security advocacy.
