🌺 The Girl I Am,The Change I Lead: Girls on the Front Lines of Crisis

I am that girl the one the world almost counted out. The one who faced storms before she even knew how to name them. But I’m also the girl who refused to break, even when everything around me seemed to. I am not a victim of my story; I am its turning point.

Every day, across the world, girls like me stand on the front lines of crises from wars that silence childhood dreams to floods that wash away homes and hope. We don’t have capes or microphones, but we carry courage in quiet ways. We lead by showing up for our families, our communities, and ourselves even when the world forgets we exist.

Leadership for us doesn’t always look like being on a stage; sometimes, it looks like sharing a piece of bread with a friend who has none. It’s speaking up when fear says “stay silent.” It’s learning, creating, and standing tall in spaces that were never built for us.

We are the change that begins in whispers girls who rise in classrooms, markets, refugee camps, and homes where dreams are told to wait. We are proof that power doesn’t always come from position; sometimes, it comes from persistence.

The girl I am is learning that strength is not the absence of pain it’s the decision to keep loving, believing, and becoming, even when life feels unfair.
And the change I lead? It starts small in the way I treat others, the way I tell my story, and the way I never stop reaching for tomorrow.

So, here’s to every girl standing firm in the face of crisis the brave ones whose scars became stories, whose silence became strength, and whose dreams are rewriting the future.
Because the girl I am is not waiting for rescue; she’s building her own way out and lighting the path for others to follow .

ASUU Strike Looms

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, starting from September 29, 2025. The union is demanding the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement, payment of outstanding salary arrears, improved university funding, and other unresolved issues. The ultimatum is set to expire around October 13, 2025. If the government fails to meet these demands, ASUU may embark on a two-week warning strike, which could later escalate into an indefinite strike. As of October 6, no strike has commenced.

ALL HANDS ON DECK FOR A GREATER NATION.

Picture Nigeria as a large boat sailing across a wide ocean. Inside this boat are over 200 million people; leaders, students, teachers, traders, farmers, doctors, artists, innovators. Everyone has a role. Some steer, some row, some patch holes, and some lift sails.

But what happens if only a few people row while others stay still? The boat slows down. What if some start making holes in anger or carelessness? The boat begins to sink.

The truth is simple: if Nigeria is to reach the shore of peace, prosperity, and progress, every hand must grip an oar.

As students, it is easy to think change belongs to “the government” or “the big men in power.” But history shows otherwise. Great nations rise when ordinary citizens choose unity.

When students in Lagos tutor children in their communities, when young farmers in Benue learn modern techniques and share them with others, when tech enthusiasts in Abuja design apps to solve problems, these actions are more than personal achievements. They are small oars rowing the nation forward.

Unity is not just about tribes joining hands. It is about hearts choosing to believe that working together brings more progress than working alone.

Patriotism isn’t just standing for the anthem or waving a flag. It’s not just celebrating October 1st with colorful clothes. Patriotism is in what we do daily:

- Refusing to cheat in exams because integrity matters.

- Volunteering time and skills to help others.

- Dreaming big for Nigeria, even when things feel tough.

- Speaking up with respect and courage when leaders must be accountable.

Patriotism is love in action—rolling up our sleeves and saying: “This is my country. I will not give up on her.”

✊ A Call to You

This Independence Day is more than a holiday—it is a reminder that you matter in the Nigerian story.

As a student, your voice, your energy, your creativity, your integrity—all of it is part of rowing this boat. The future is not waiting for someone else; it is waiting for you.

Alone, we may row in circles. Together, we can move forward.

So let’s pick up our oars—unity, collaboration, and patriotism—and row this boat called Nigeria towards greatness.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!
The future belongs to those willing to row. Will you row?

Dear EKSUITES,

As we step into the examination period, let's remember that every page we turn and every answer we attempt is a reflection of our hard work, dedication, and determination.

Let's uphold the knowledge we have gained and trust the effort we have put into gaining that knowledge.

Let's ink every word with confidence while noting that it is more than just a test of memory but a chance to showcase our growth, resilience and brilliance.

Let's give our best this period!
