ABEOKUTA SET TO HOST AS ADOKA EJA’ALEKWU FESTIVAL STORMS TOWN FEBRUARY 28

The vibrant city of Abeokuta is gearing up for a cultural explosion as the Adoka Eje’Alekwu Festival takes center stage on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The highly anticipated festival will showcase a rich blend of traditional music, colorful masquerade displays, cultural performances, and deep-rooted heritage celebrations that highlight the spirit of unity and ancestral pride. Visitors can expect electrifying drum processions, captivating dances, and ceremonial rites that pay homage to history and community identity of the Idoma people in Abeokuta.
Organizers say this year’s edition promises to be bigger and more immersive, drawing cultural enthusiasts, tourists, and dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond. Local artisans, food vendors, and performers will also be on ground, turning the event into a full cultural carnival and economic boost for the city.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to arrive early to experience the full lineup of activities and participate in what promises to be a powerful celebration of tradition, pride, and community heritage.

SECURITY UPDATE & CALL FOR ENLISTMENT INTO THE NATIONAL FOREST GUARD SERVICE
In view of the incessant attacks on our communities—particularly Opa, Aune, and most especially Entekpa—the leadership of Adoka Kingdom has continued to explore sustainable solutions to curb this disturbing trend and ensure the safety of lives and property.
We are pleased to inform the general public that approval has been secured for the recruitment of 200 able-bodied men who will undergo professional training by the Nigerian Army. Upon completion of their training, they will be stationed in Adoka and deployed to cover the entire Local Government Area in support of community security as Forest Guards.
In light of this development, the leadership of Adoka Kingdom hereby calls on sons and daughters of Adoka who are qualified and willing to serve to enlist in this security outfit, as part of our collective effort to restore peace and protect our communities.
This landmark approval was made possible through the efforts of Dr. Bartholomew Owoicho, who is currently serving as the National Security Adviser to the National Chairman of the National Forest Guards Service. The leadership and people of Adoka Kingdom deeply appreciate his commitment and dedication to the security of our land.
Together, we must stand united to defend our communities and secure a safer future for our people.
