Tensions escalated in Ekoli Edda, Ebonyi State, over the weekend following a violent attack by suspected political thugs that resulted in one fatality, four injured, and significant property damage. Former local government chairman and ex-Ebonyi lawmaker, Dr. Eni Uduma Chima, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when gunmen ambushed his convoy. The attack occurred as he was returning from inspecting the remains of a home belonging to businessman Ama Okoro Ibiam, which had been set ablaze.
