OCDU Condemns Deplorable State Of Central Hospital Agbor, Calls For Rescue

The apex umbrella body for Ogbe-nmudein Indigenes based in Diaspora, and at home, Ogbe-nmudein Community Development Union (OCDU), has condemned in strong terms, the deplorable state of the Central Hospital Agbor.
The group while lamenting over an incident where a member of the group was rushed to the hospital over stroke, and was referred to Federal Medical Center (FMC) Asaba, as the hospital staff claims the hospital lacks the equipment to handle the case.
The union wondered how a hospital as supposedly big as the Central Hospital Agbor, would not have the facility to handle an ailment such as stroke
In a member's words, while narrating his experience, "My only surviving uncle's wife, suffered a stroke and collapsed; she was rushed to Central Hospital Agbor, only to be told that the facility lacked the necessary resources and equipment to provide her with proper care.
"As a result, she was referred to Asaba, over 40 miles away. I pray with all my heart that she survives this ordeal.
"My aunt and uncle live in Ime-Obi, I do not want to make this purely about my family or personal pain, because I am painfully aware that many others face similar struggles every day, many without the opportunity or platform to speak out, today, I am compelled to voice my frustration and anger; I am pi**ed off."
Continuing, the member said, "Our general hospital in Agbor has served the entire Ika nation for years, yet it remains critically under-equipped and neglected.
Speaking further, "Despite having had a governor from Ika land in the past, and despite the efforts of local government officials present and past, traditional rulers, wealthy natives, and politicians, no one has taken decisive action to upgrade or modernize this vital institution." he lamented.
Additionally, he hinted, "Most of us, including myself, do not live in Agbor, which often creates a sense of distance and detachment from the harsh realities faced there, We may feel we don't need the hospital ourselves; but we must recognize that silence and inaction only contribute to this ongoing neglect.
"We have the education, the resources, and the influence to effect change, yet too often, we accept the status quo."
He appealed, "I urge everyone to reflect deeply, often well-to-do Agborians, with the capacity to make a real difference, It is within our power to hold our leaders accountable and to advocate passionately for improved healthcare infrastructure.
This is a plea for awareness and urgent action, the community member posited, as he hinted that, the lack of decent, accessible medical facilities in Agbor is a critical issue that demands collective attention.
He described the situation thus, "It is truly heartbreaking."
The maintenance and upkeep of the general hospital should be the responsibility of the government, both the state and local authorities, they proffered.
Maintaining that, the people, including traditional rulers, should be able to pressure the government to improve on the hospital.
They expressed surprise that the various representatives in the state House of Assembly, and National Assembly for Ika South and Ika Northeast, has not taken any action regarding the hospital, "Even the senator representing us seems to be absent on this issue." they wondered.
Meanwhile, they revealed sadly that, people continue to die unnecessarily. "We can't allow things to stay the same; we must advocate for change. We all know what's right, we need to hold everyone accountable." they called for action.
According to the union, it was obvious that the hospital was intentionally left in the deplorable state that it is today. They recalled the days of UPN, NPN, and other political parties of old, how they had clear manifestos for the people; free medical, free education, low cost housing, but today, the manifestos one see, is politics of family inheritance, just as they described the development as so sad.
Finally, members of Ogbe-nmudein Community Development Union, agreed that, not only the politicians should be blamed, as government may not be able to do everything, therefore, wealthy Agbor Indigenes should also do their part in ensuring that the hospital is up to standard in health care service delivery.

NDOBU COMMUNITY HOLDS CONFERENCE, ELECTS NEW NDOBU COMMUNITY COUNCIL (NCC) EXECUTIVES

Ika Weekly Newspaper

The Ndobu Community in Igbodo, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, held its much-anticipated conference on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Chief Emmanuel Mbulu Community Hall, drawing delegates from various Branches of the Ndobu Progressive Union (NPU).

The well-attended event commenced with an opening prayer said by Chief/Pst Peter Chiemeke Ozili, followed by the traditional breaking of kolanuts by the Ogene of Ndobu Community, Chief(Engr) Alexander Onwuanumba Nwokolo, symbolizing peace, unity, and goodwill among all present. The conference attracted a large number of indigenes, including elders, youths and women representatives, and stakeholders committed to the growth and progress of Ndobu.

To direct the affairs of the day, the following great sons and daughters of Ndobu were called to occupy the High Table: Chief Robert Agwaife, Chief/Pst Peter Chiemeke, Mr Ik. Nwomoko, Mr. Innocent Nwabuei, and Mr. Godwin Oji.

In his opening address, the Ogene of Ndobu, Chief (Ezinna) Alexander Onwuanumba Nwokolo, warmly welcomed all sons and daughters of the community. He charged them to put the interest of Ndobu first and demonstrate maturity, unity, and purpose as the election of new executive officers of the Ndobu Community Council (NCC) was set to take place. He also sternly cautioned those involved in evil practices, warning that such acts could hinder the peace and development the community yearns for.

One of the major highlights of the day was the formal presentation of the Ndobu Community Constitution. However, what was meant to be a joyous and unifying moment soon turned contentious, as heated debates and disagreements over certain provisions in the document arose. When the tension died down, it was ruled that copies of the Ndobu Constitution should be given to the Chairmen of Branches of Ndobu Progressive Union and representatives of other organs of Administration, to study, make inputs in respect of the contentious provisions, and bring up for review in the next Conference of Ndobu Community Council.

The Chairman of the Audit Committee, Mr. Christian Njoaguani presented a detailed Audit Report which outlined the financial position of the community and called for greater transparency in all dealings.
Copies of the Audit Report were given to the Chairmen of NPU Branches, representatives of the organs of Administration of Ndobu Community, for study and comments to be made in the next NCC meeting.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Land Allocation and Management Committee, Mr. H. O. Ziemife gave a financial statement of the land transactions and appealed for proper documentation and accountability, moving forward.

Before the commencement of the elections, the Caretaker Committee members were appreciated for the good work they did to ensure that the conference come to reality today, and thereafter, the Committee was formally
dissolved. Members of the dissolved Caretaker Committee were:
Pastor Henry N. Njoaguani, Mr. Chiedu Okeleke, Mr. Morka Alex, Elder Odia Osondu, Mr.H. O. Ziemife, Mr. Benjamin Innocent E., and Mrs. Josephine Nwabuzor.

A five-man Electoral Committee, which comprised Diokpa Nwomoko, Elder Odia Osondu, Mrs. Grace Obior, Mr. Chika Ubani and Mr. Anthony Acha was immediately appointed to conduct the elections. The committee read out the electoral guidelines and urged participants to conduct themselves peacefully.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Pastor Henry N. Njoagwuani, in his final address, called on community members to vote based on credibility and character rather than personal relationships or sentiments. “Let us elect those who are ready to serve, not those who want to rule,” he said.

After the peaceful and transparent elections, the following people formed the Executive Members of the Ndobu Community Council (NCC):
Mr. Blessing Njoaguani – President-General, Mr Christian Njoaguani – Vice President, Mr. Nduka Ubani – Secretary-General, Mr. Mike Agwaife – Assistant Secretary, Mrs. D**e Blessing – Treasurer, Mr. Osondu Odia – Financial Secretary, Mr. Chika Ubani – Assistant Financial Secretary, Mr. Mike Okoh – PRO (Public Relations Officer), Mr. Chiugo Akaeze, Mrs. Faith Nwabuzor and Mrs. Rosemary Njoagwuani – Provosts, Mr. Afamefune Onyemalechi – Director of Social and Culture.

After the election results were announced, the newly elected NCC Executives took the Oath of Office administered on them by Chief/Pst P C Ozili.

The President-General of the Ndobu Community Council, Mr. Blessing Njoaguani gave a heartfelt acceptance speech. He thanked the community for their trust and promised to serve with diligence, humility, and transparency. “With your support, we will move Ndobu forward,” he declared.
Thereafter, a copy of the Ndobu Community Constitution signed by the Ogene of Ndobu was presented to the newly elected President-General to guide him in the administration of the NCC.

During the closing segment of the conference, several individuals from the house gave words of advice to the newly elected members of the executive. They urged them to be accessible, fair, and focused on community development. Speakers emphasized the need for unity and continuity while also reminding the new leaders to uphold the values of honesty and inclusiveness.

The conference ended with a closing prayer and a renewed sense of hope for a more united and progressive Ndobu.

To Live Long, Appease The Odukwu With Immediate Effect, Odozi-nmor Signals Members Of Owa-ofie Community, As He Grades More Earth Roads For The People

The Odozi-Nmor of the Universe and Director, Titanic Hotel, Clubbing & Bar, located at Oloye Quarters, Owa-Alero in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Daniel Miti has stated that the gods of the land have told him in his dream that it is very angry with the people of Owa-Ofie Community, particularly the Okparan-Uku and the elders of the community for taking it out of its normal position and abandoning it for a very long time without offering a single sacrificial activity to it.
Speaking with Ika Weekly Newspaper Reporter during an interview, Mr. Daniel Miti, said that he was in a dream some days ago when the gods of the land came to tell him the reason while Owa-Ofie Community is not progressing like other communities in Ika nation. According to him, "The gods of the land told me in my dream that the Odukwu of Owa-Ofie Community is not happy for the way and manner, it has been abandoned by the elders and entire members of our community.
"In my previous publication, I mentioned to my people my agreement with the goddess of the Iyiama River who gave me instructions on how to bring development to Owa-Ofie Community, my hometown in Ika North-East.
"The goddess told me in my dream to come and grade the access road to the Iyiama River and make the river comfortable for people to use, and I humbly did as I was instructed.
"I also to let my community know that the goddess has directed me to use the money that will be realised from the river to grade more access roads for the development of the community which I have come to grade today, beginning from Idumugbo, Old Abraka Road.
"My next target is the Agidi Road, the one opposite our Arusi in Owa-Ofie Community here. That is how the river goddess wants me to be grading the roads one after the other until Owa-Ofie Community becomes one of the best communities in Nigeria.
"So the gods revealed the reason why Owa-Ofie is not moving forward and that before there will be development will come and the people will be comfortable with their lives, particularly the elders who abandoned the Odukwu and other shrines of the community, they need to appease the gods, by sacrificing a giant goat to the Odukwu.
"I have discussed with the Okparan-Uku, Elder John Mekwuye to let him know what the gods have asked him and his followers to do so that they will live long. However, before the discussion with the Okparan-Uku in council, a crucial meeting was held at the Okparan-Uku-s place with some youths of the community to fashion out some creative ways of proffering solutions to the demands of he gods.
"I also informed Okparan-Uku that the gods said that as they are apologizing to the Odukwu for neglecting it for a very long time, they should also not forget to appease other shrines in the community, like Arusi, Nzu-Ali, Eziza-Ogbe, Nze and others so that there will be freedom, peace and unity in the community" he said.
The Odozi-Nmor continued by stating that the gods of the land are warning the people seriously that there will be calamity in the land unless the needful is done at the appropriate time.

Defecting To APC Will Not Save You From The Punishment Of Looting The People's Money, Ozue Tells Decampees

A businessman and indigene of Idumuesah Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Ozue Frankwide Onyeisi has assured decampees to APC that come 2027, Deltans will vote only candidates with vision regardless of the party the candidates belong to.
He gave the assurance during the week while speaking with Ika Weekly Newspaper reporter, saying that decamping to APC will not guarantee victory for PDP defectors in 2027 general election.
Mr. Ozue maintained that the PDP leaders who decamped to APC are on their own, hinting that they never consulted Deltans, whom he said have the right to decide who to vote for come 2027.
He expressed shock and disappointment towards the leaders who are talking about 2027 election when the immediate and basic needs of those who voted for them in 2023 are yet to be seen, urging them to put aside 2027 ambition, and work towards making life better for the people.
In his words, “What is the essence of decamping to APC when the State is faced with several challenges such as kidnapping, killings, r**e, food shortage, communal conflict, oil theft, among others” he said.
According to him, “Decamping to APC will never save any of them who have been involved in looting our State's money; The looting and embezzling of our money has exposed the good people of Delta State to untold hardship; You cannot be planning how to inflict more pains and sufferings on the people and you expect God to remain silent; As you are planning for 2027, God has already planned what He will do to thieves and looters of our State's money”, he opined.
Continuing, Mr. Ozue enjoined elective office holders, and political appointees who think they have found safety in APC to be more concerned about the safety of the people in the hands of fulani herdsmen, making food plentiful for the people, creating jobs and providing basic human needs for the people.
He maintained that the people need good governance that will add value to their lives, and not to be decamping from one political party to another, pointing out that come 2027, Deltans will only vote for the party that will transform the lives of the people.
The Idumuesah born businessman said, “How can someone be planning what he/she will do in 2027 without even knowing what will happen tomorrow; These politicians are very dramatic; You people should know that man proposes, God disposes” he concluded.
