Open letter to Omabala demi god politicians. In the wake of a new era, you fail to build institutions and bridges across your various disparities, you failed to reconcile your differences. Before Ngige and eventually Peter Obi Omabala scored card is low in involvement in state political affairs of Anambra, instead they played influential roles in promoting or shortchanging a certain candidate. We are mocked for having interests only in fishing and farming. Even though we thrives brilliantly when opportunity calls in the likes of Prof Chuba Okadigbo who is a role model even to his opponents.
Aguleri as the center of Omabala evolution since time immemorial and the pivot of the region’s civilization over time, suffered a severe Kingdom tumor, they fought between kingdoms and clans, a severe damage extended even to our neighboring communities to affirm loyalties.
The eventual emergence of Willie Obianor should have left us better but we failed to build institutions that will bridge the gaps of inequalities. Rather we surmount to the level of winners vs losers display. Before they remember to build political unity, four years has gone, the next four years (last term of Willie obiano) was spent betraying the trust of men who gave up their political affiliations to support Willie Obianor second term bid. This caused a fracture in Anambra security architecture towards the end of Willie Obianor tenure. That is the confirmation that Anambra North is the cheat code for internal security of Anambra state.
Now that it’s crystal clear your voice isn’t so loud in the scheme of affairs; it is one more time necessary to reshuffle our political orientations. Most important political step at this point in time is RECONCILIATION. A lot of people were lied to and betrayed. Tell yourselves the truth and realize there’s no development going on in Omabala region when we boast of Petroleum host community. Our federal allocations is being held by the state government impoverishing the community and families in occupation of the land before the exploitation. And we are supposed to seat there apportioning blames on each other while the other zones attracts developments to their communities.
Where is the refinery? Where is the Universities? Where is the Agric farms? Should we talk about the roads? How many is newly commissioned? How many is completed? How many continuity projects is completed? How long do we have to lie to ourselves? There is no development in our zone. Everywhere filled with hotels because no company will thrive on poor road networks and other basic amenities. If we didn’t give ourself Airport it would have been located elsewhere, if we didn’t give ourself bridges, it would have been an ignored centurial dream of our fathers. Some bridges in our communities are testament to our forefathers dreamscapes.
Of truth Chief Willie Obiano at some point lost the charisma to fund projects across Omabala regions because he was deeply afflicted for his trust upon his kinsmen. What he failed to understand was that Aguleri and entire Omabala region needed something more than a governor to withstand or recover from their political turmoil. A chance he gave away to his wife who failed not only on the ballot but as well of character. If we needed a political leader I for one don’t see any savior within the nearest future than more political hallucinations.
Some people are dancing around their own failures. Commissioners are striving to perform in the place of the governor to prove that the governor is truly working in order to retain their jobs. How heavy this can be for the occupant of those few political posts.
This revolution already started by a youthful law maker should not be undermined, it is another dice casted for political rearrangement which must take its first step as RECONCILIATIONS. Actors are reducing in numbers with no one to replace them in their various strong holds because we depend more on individual abilities rather than building bridges across institutions and our present reality of multi-kingdoms. If we fail again, it only make our failures increase in size.
Amacom is a movement which gave powers to many political alignments in Omabala region. Amacom is beyond inter trade movement, most reason an Omabala indigene doesn’t get bullied or lost anywhere is thanks to Amacom. The spiritual connection that preserved traditional communal linkage. We must go back to the drawing board. A force without a leader is bound for failure.
This era can make or mar us. Remember the other zones doesn’t consider us deserving in terms of development. We can only develop our communities through our various capacities (Obute n’ Obute). We shouldn’t let our failures rob us our future. If any government doesn’t consider our region in terms of development they shouldn’t expect our votes, stop sugar coating failures to fit in. Make them understand your peoples expectations are high and to whom more is given, much more is expected.
