*Rumoured Bandit Presence Sparks Panic Among Parents in Akure*

Reports making the rounds in Akure, Ondo State, have triggered anxiety among residents following rumours of suspected bandits operating within and around some communities. The fear has reportedly led many concerned parents to rush to schools and withdraw their children as a precautionary measure.

As of now, there has been no widely confirmed official report verifying the presence of bandits in Akure. However, similar incidents of panic have recently occurred in other parts of southwestern Nigeria, where unverified security rumours caused parents to remove their children from schools out of fear for their safety.

The situation highlights the growing concern among Nigerians over insecurity and the safety of schoolchildren. Parents naturally place the protection of their children above all else, especially amid reports of kidnappings and attacks on schools in some parts of the country.

Residents are encouraged to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and rely on updates from security agencies, school authorities, and the Ondo State Government. Community vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities remain important in maintaining peace and security.

Iju Voice Management calls on relevant security agencies to provide timely information and reassure residents, while also strengthening surveillance across schools and communities to prevent panic and ensure the safety of lives and property.

*Rising Insecurity: Federal Government Must Act Now*

The reported abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her twin children in Ibadan has once again drawn national attention to the worsening security situation in Nigeria. According to reports, the victims were kidnapped by armed gunmen in the Challenge area of Ibadan on Wednesday morning while on their way out. Security agencies have since launched investigations into the incident.

This unfortunate development is another reminder that insecurity remains one of the greatest challenges facing the nation. From kidnappings and banditry to armed attacks on innocent citizens, many Nigerians continue to live in fear as criminal elements operate across various parts of the country.

Citizens are calling on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts in combating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property. The protection of every Nigerian, regardless of status or location, should remain a top priority. Communities, traditional rulers, and local vigilante groups must also work closely with security agencies to provide useful intelligence that can help prevent criminal activities.

As Nigerians await the safe rescue of the victims, many are urging authorities to take decisive and lasting measures to address the root causes of insecurity. A nation can only thrive when its citizens feel safe in their homes, schools, workplaces, and on the roads.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families, and we hope for their safe and speedy return.

*Nigeria First: Time for Leaders to Focus on the People's Needs*

The current situation in Nigeria calls for urgent attention from leaders at all levels of government. Across the nation, citizens are facing challenges ranging from insecurity and economic hardship to rising concerns about their daily welfare. At a time like this, the focus of leadership should be on finding practical solutions that will improve the lives of the people.

Governors, Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, State House of Assembly members, Local Government Chairmen, political appointees, and other public office holders must work together in the interest of the nation. The challenges confronting Nigeria are too significant to be addressed through individual efforts or political differences. A united approach is needed to restore confidence and hope among citizens.

Many Nigerians believe that this is not the season for political campaigns or heated political activities. Rather, it is a period that demands dialogue, cooperation, and decisive action. Aspirants across all political parties should also join in supporting efforts aimed at addressing the pressing issues affecting the country.

The people expect leadership that listens, acts, and prioritizes their welfare. By focusing on security, economic development, job creation, and social stability, leaders can demonstrate their commitment to national progress and the well-being of every Nigerian.

Nigeria's future depends on the collective efforts of its leaders and citizens. Together, we can overcome present challenges and build a safer, stronger, and more prosperous nation for generations to come.

*Oyo School Abduction: Terrorists' Demands Raise Fresh Concerns Over National Security*

The ongoing abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State has taken a disturbing turn, with reports indicating that the terrorists responsible for the attack have made fresh demands, including *weapons, the implementation of Sharia law, and a ransom reportedly running into billions of naira.* These demands have further heightened fears among families, residents, and Nigerians across the country.

The abduction, which occurred in *Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State,* has already claimed lives and left dozens of children and teachers in captivity. The incident has sparked nationwide protests by teachers, labour unions, students, and civil society groups demanding urgent action from the government and security agencies.

Many Nigerians are expressing concern that criminal groups are becoming increasingly emboldened, making demands that go beyond ransom and touch on issues capable of threatening national unity and stability. Citizens have continued to call on both the *Federal Government and Oyo State Government* to intensify rescue efforts and ensure the safe return of the victims without delay.

The tragedy has also renewed discussions about the security of schools, the need for stronger intelligence gathering, improved border surveillance, and greater collaboration between federal, state, and local security structures. Political leaders, community stakeholders, and security experts have urged Nigerians to remain united and avoid politicising the painful situation while rescue operations continue.

As families wait anxiously for good news, the nation continues to pray for the safe release of the abducted children and teachers. The protection of innocent lives must remain a top priority, and all necessary lawful measures should be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent future attacks on schools and communities across Nigeria.
