Bandits Kidnap Ondo LCDA Secretary Aladesuyi, Two Others Near Akure Airport

A recent security incident occurred on Monday at approximately 10am at a poultry farm situated along Kajola Road in the Kajola area of Ilu-Abo, a community located less than five kilometres from the Akure Airport.

Terrorists, commonly referred to as bandits, abducted Joseph Aladesuyi, the Secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, alongside two other individuals in the Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

The victims were attacked and kidnapped while working at the farm. The abduction reportedly triggered widespread panic across Ilu-Abo and neighbouring communities, prompting some schools in the area to temporarily shut down due to residents' fears of further attacks.

Confirming the incident, Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, stated on Monday that Aladesuyi and two others, identified as Joseph Kayode and Easter Akinlolu, were abducted by armed men who stormed the farm earlier in the day.

According to Jimoh, preliminary investigations indicated that the attackers, who were masked, invaded the poultry farm after emerging from a nearby bush. The victims were abducted on Monday morning at a poultry farm along Kajola Road, Ilu-Abo, in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The assailants created panic in the area by firing several gunshots into the air before whisking the victims away to an unknown destination. Following the attack, the police stated that security operatives were immediately deployed to the area to launch a rescue operation.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, ordered the deployment of all operational and intelligence resources to secure the victims' release and apprehend those responsible.

Security personnel, including conventional and non-conventional security outfits, are currently combing forests and nearby communities as part of ongoing efforts to track down the kidnappers. He acknowledged that the incident had heightened fears among residents, especially parents and school authorities, resulting in the temporary closure of schools in the affected communities

For 24 years, Josef Fritzl kept his daughter, Elisabeth Fritzl, captive in a secret basement built under his own house.

The captivity began in 1984, when he tricked her into helping him in the basement and locked her in an underground cell.

His daughter was subjected to continuous abuse and had seven children in captivity, some of whom grew up without ever seeing sunlight.

The horror came to light in 2008, when one of the girls became seriously ill and had to be taken to the hospital, which led to the discovery of the hideout.

In 2009, Fritzl was sentenced to life imprisonment for his horrific acts, while his daughter and the children born in captivity are trying to rebuild their lives far from one of the most chilling family crimes in recent history.

The court of appeal in Abuja has dismissed an appeal filed by Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of Ondo state, challenging a federal high court ruling that allowed an amendment in a suit seeking to bar him from contesting the 2028 governorship election.

In a unanimous judgment delivered on Monday, a three-member panel of the appellate court held that the appeal lacked merit and awarded N2 million in costs against the governor.
