AJIMUDA RAISES ALARM OVER AIYETORO'S FATE, URGES SWIFT ACTION ON ILAJE DEVELOPMENT

Abuja — The Federal Character Commissioner representing Ondo State, Bola Ajimuda, has issued a strong call to the Ondo State Government to urgently address the lingering infrastructural challenges in Ilaje Local Government Area, warning that continued neglect could lead to the disappearance of Aiyetoro community due to persistent sea incursion.

In a statement shared via his official Facebook platform, Ajimuda—popularly referred to as OSAGYEFO—expressed deep concern over what he described as prolonged inaction on the strategic Igbokoda–Aiyetoro Road project. According to him, the road remains a critical lifeline for riverine communities and a key intervention necessary to combat the devastating effects of coastal erosion.

Ajimuda traced the history of the project to its conceptualization in 2001 under the administration of Adebayo Adefarati, noting that substantial progress had been achieved, with about 80 percent of the road completed up to Ugbonla since 2007. However, he lamented that successive administrations failed to bring the project to completion.

He specifically criticized the tenure of Olusegun Mimiko for abandoning the initiative, while also stating that the late Rotimi Akeredolu was reportedly discouraged by certain local interests from prioritizing the project.

The commissioner did not mince words in expressing disappointment over what he termed a “culture of neglect,” alleging that even some stakeholders from Ilaje extraction contributed to the lack of progress. He warned that if urgent steps are not taken, Aiyetoro—a historically significant coastal settlement—may soon exist only in stories due to the relentless impact of sea incursion.

“Aiyetoro must not be reduced to a tale of loss. The time to act is now,” Ajimuda emphasized, urging the current administration under Lucky Aiyedatiwa to prioritize the completion of the road and implement sustainable coastal protection measures.

_The statement has since generated reactions across Ondo State, with stakeholders calling for immediate government intervention to preserve vulnerable communities and secure the future of Ilaje land._

PRESS STATEMENT

OSAGYEFO RENEWAL GROUP (ORG) DECLARES NATIONWIDE MOBILIZATION FOR CONTINUITY OF PROGRESS AND SUPPORT FOR PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU

The Osagyefo Renewal Group (ORG), a structured political support network with presence across all 36 states of the federation, has formally reaffirmed its commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leadership, while calling on members nationwide to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At a strategic meeting held in Abuja, the group resolved to activate and strengthen its state structures in alignment with its mandate as a political cell within the APC. The communique issued at the end of the meeting was signed by the National Coordinator, Bola Ajimuda, and the National Secretary, Andrew Zemoh Jebo.

According to the group, the directive is aimed at consolidating support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom they described as a leader whose policies have delivered significant progress across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.

The ORG commended President Tinubu for what it described as his “exceptional commitment to democratic governance and the delivery of the dividends of democracy.” The group further attributed the recent improvements in Nigeria’s economic outlook to the President’s strategic leadership and the competence of his economic team.

“The noticeable recovery of the national economy, coupled with increasing social stability and relative peace across the country, reflects the President’s vigilance and the dedication of a capable team working under his leadership,” the statement noted.

The group also highlighted notable progress recorded in critical sectors including health, education, and agriculture, stating that these areas have witnessed expanded growth in both scope and efficiency under the current administration. It added that Nigeria’s improving global economic standing is a testament to ongoing reforms and policy direction.

In addition, the group commended the leadership of the National Assembly under Godswill Akpabio for demonstrating political sagacity, maturity, and a non-confrontational approach in handling several politically sensitive matters without rancour. The ORG noted that this style of leadership has contributed significantly to legislative-executive harmony and national stability.

At the same meeting, the group unanimously appointed the Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, as its National Patron, citing his leadership qualities, legislative experience, and unwavering commitment to democratic governance.

Emphasizing continuity, the Osagyefo Renewal Group stressed that sustaining the current trajectory of development requires continued leadership under President Tinubu. The group therefore urged Nigerians to support a renewed mandate for the President in the 2027 general elections.

“In light of the progress recorded across multiple sectors and the steady repositioning of the economy towards sustainable growth, it is imperative that this momentum is sustained. We therefore call on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he continues to build on these achievements,” the group stated.

The ORG concluded by reaffirming its readiness to work with party structures at all levels to mobilize support, deepen political engagement, and ensure the success of the APC in the forthcoming electoral cycle.

AJIMUDA URGES AIYEDATIWA TO PRIORITIZE ILAJE DEVELOPMENT, CALLED FOR IMMEDIATE ROAD COMPLETION

Akure, Ondo State --The Commissioner representing Ondo State at the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Bola Ajimuda, has called on the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to urgently prioritize the development of Ilaje Local Government Area.

In a strongly worded message shared on his official page, Ajimuda emphasized that despite the availability of advanced technology globally and within Nigeria, meaningful development in Ilaje must be driven by deliberate leadership and commitment from within.

He specifically appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa to give immediate attention to the completion of the Igbokoda–Aiyetoro Road, describing it as a critical infrastructure necessary for economic growth and addressing environmental challenges such as sea incursion in the coastal communities.

Referencing past achievements, Ajimuda noted that the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, made significant strides in developing Owo, urging the current administration to replicate such impact in Ilaje. He further advised the government to engage construction firm SETRACO to resume and complete the project, citing the company’s demonstrated technical capacity on earlier sections of the road.

The commissioner also called for the release of the statutory 40 percent of the 13 percent derivation fund to the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) to accelerate development, particularly along the Ugbonla–Aiyetoro axis.

Ajimuda expressed concern over what he described as a lack of visible development in parts of Ilaje, particularly Ugbo Kingdom, noting that nearly two years into the current administration, expectations remain largely unmet.

He cautioned against focusing on what he termed “highfalutin” projects such as proposed seaports and refinery initiatives, urging instead a practical and immediate approach to infrastructural development.

“Time is not on our side. This is the moment to act decisively,” Ajimuda stated, calling on the governor to intensify efforts and deliver tangible results for the people of Ilaje.

The statement has since generated reactions across political and civic circles, with stakeholders calling for urgent intervention to address the developmental needs of the riverine communities.
