BIOGRAPHY OF LATE DEACONESS (MRS) EKAETE OKON JOE EKPIMA.
(NEE OKUT AMA)
The world is a stage, we all are actors with entrance and exist. Life itself is indeed a miracle, carving question mark on our minds with fun memories and sometimes sad moments. When the curtains draws, on wonder the scripture says in Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2,' To everything there is a season, a time to be born and a time die,' Making death itself a mystery, a divine appointment with God that no man can possibly escape, as stated in Hebrew 9: 27.
Deaconess Eaette (MMA police, fondly called by friends), was born on the 21st day of October, 1960, into the family of late Elder Emmanuel Akadu of Eyo-ufuo, Eyo Itor, Eyulor Village and late Madam Cecilia Nyong Etim of ukuda village, all in ur Offiong Oruko Local Government Area if Akwa ibom state. She was the last child of her parents.
Eke Okpordi began her education journey Michael primary school in 1879, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1976. She proceeded to Community Secondary School Odot, Nsit Atai and obtained her SSCE in 1981.
Eke Okporso as fondly called by all, had a passion for business, which drew her into learning tailoring work, which she practiced for some time. Later, she joined the Garri sellers Association, and then finally joined the fish Association, Ibaka branch, where she work till her last day.
As the last child of her parents, her childhood and growing up under guardianship of her late parents created a deep bond, which molded her into a beautiful and responsible damsel. This gave birth to the nickname 'Okut- Ama.' laying a foundation for that compassionate and resilient woman she became. These attributes caught am the attention of her handsome husband, late Elder Okon Joe EKPIMA, from Utit Antai village, in Uyenghe Local Government Area, who sought her hand in marriage. Then Union was built on live, mutual respect, and shared value, which she kept till her last days. The union was blessed with five children, two boys and 3 girls, all alive to bid her farewell. She was a very loving, caring, and supportive wife and an amazing mother to her children and grandchildren.
Mommy's life was profoundly shaped by her unwavering dedication to her faith she was born a Catholic but her later converted to the Apostolic church by marriage, which she upheld the teaching and doctrine of the church till her last days in Earth. Through times of joy and challenges of her life, her faith remained unwavering, providing a moral compass that influenced her interactions and decisions.
Eke Ekoima was a remarkable woman whose life was filled with resilience and dedicated to her family and loved ones. She had a little space occupied by few whom she called friends. Her social life revolved around her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished so much.
Eke Okporso passed into glory on the 20th of March 2025, at exactly 20 : 50 at University of Calabar teaching Hospital (UCTH), after battling with heart failure. Her doctor and children did all they could to keep her alive, but God had a better plan for her in His sight.
