In a historic decision poised to reshape Nigeria’s political and administrative structure, the Senate has approved the creation of 12 additional states across the country’s six geo-political zones.The approval came after the third and final reading of the Senate Committee on State Creation’s report, following extensive consultations nationwide. The move is aimed at promoting equitable representation, improving local governance, and addressing long standing demands from various regions.

1.Ijebu State –Carved out of Ogun State
2.Ibadan State – Carved out of Oyo State
SOUTH EAST
3.Anim State – From parts of Anambra and Imo States
4.Adada State – From Enugu State
SOUTH SOUTH
5.Toru-Ibe State – Drawn from sections of Ondo, Edo, and Delta States
6.Obolo State – From Akwa Ibom State
NORTH EAST
7.Savanna State – From Borno State
8.Amana State – From Adamawa State
9.Tiga State – From Kano State
10.Gurara State – From Southern Kaduna
NORTH CENTRAL
11.Okura State – From Kogi State
12.Apa State – From Benue State
