*PLATEAU YOUTH COUNCIL HOLDS A ONE DAY SENSITIZATION AND TRAUMA HEALING SUMMIT, PAYS CONDOLENCE VISITS TO MANGU AND BOKKOS LGAs*
The leadership of the Plateau Youth Council has staged a one day sensitization and trauma healing summit for the Youths of Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Riyom LGAs with the hope of finding a permanent solution to the security challenges that have been bedevilling us as a people.
In his opening remarks, the chairman of the Youth Council, Comr. Lot Adas appreciated the participants for coming and stressed that the insecurity faced in the state is principally the aim of the summit and charged everyone to take back all that is discussed to reshape the mindset of the Youths to keep off things capable of causing disunity and bridge of peace.
The Summit which brought together, top security personnels, government functionaries and Youth leaders across the state had the theme: *Robust and Result-Oriented Collaboration among the Youths, Security Agencies and Government; a sine quanon for achieving Peace and Security* where Mr. Santos Larab, a public affairs analyst and a lecturer with the department of history, university of Jos dissected the theme and further proffered achievable solutions on the best strategies to nip the insecurity we have been faced with in the bud. He further stressed and spoke passionately about the need for an ideal collaboration among the Youths, being the vanguard of the society, the Security Agencies and the Government at all times.
In his keynote address, the Coordinator, Operation Rainbow, through his representative, Nom Gadzama, Saluted the leadership of the Youth Council for organizing such an important summit that will afford the Youths the opportunity to talk to themselves. He further stressed the importance of peace and the need for the Youths to take their rightful place as vanguards of the sociaty by collaborating with the security agencies to provide relevant information that will aid them to function expectedly.
Also speaking, the Commander Operation Safe Haven and General Officer Commanding 3rd Amoured Division, Maj. Gen. AE Abubakar through Brig. Gen. Michael Agi, The Chief of Staff emphasized the readiness of the Operation Safe Haven to partner and work very closely with the leadership of the Youth Council at all levels to ensure a lasting peace is restored to Plateau State. The Commander further admonished Plateau Youths to report to the right authority, any officer who is found compromising and assured that necessary sanctions will be meted accordingly.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Bashir Lawandi Datti in his remarks, charged the Youths to stay peaceful at all times and engage themselves in meaningful ventures to avoid them being used as agents of destruction and violence with assurances that Government will continue to work closely with the Youths to support Small Scale businesses and support innovations.
The leadership of the Youth Council earlier before the summit, visited the traditional councils of Mangu and Bokkos LGAs to sympathize and identify with them over the recent attacks which claimed several lives with valuable properties destroyed.
