Performing good deeds is the best way to make your journey in the afterlife a simple one. It is narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said that "when a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (a continuous charity), a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him

BREAKING: *You Can’t Resume In Senate Now, NASS Tells Suspended Kogi Senator Natasha*

The National Assembly Management has formally declined Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s request to resume legislative duties after serving her six-month suspension over alleged misconduct.

The National Assembly bureaucracy stated that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension remained in force, pending the outcome of the matter currently before the Court of Appeal.

LEADERSHIP reports that following the adjudication of the case by the Federal High Court in Abuja in favour of the Senate, dissatisfied Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan approached the appellate court for remedy.

In a letter signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly (Ag. CNA), Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, addressed to the embattled lawmaker and dated September 4, 2025, sighted by our Correspondent, the Parliament acknowledged Akpoti-Uduaghan’s notification of her intended return to the Senate on September 4—the date she claimed marked the end of her six-month-long suspension. However, the National Assembly clarified that her suspension took effect from March 6, 2025, and emphasised that the matter was still subjudice, hence she cannot resume legislative duties.

The National Assembly insisted that no administrative action can be taken until the Court of Appeal finally deliver a verdict on the matter.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was suspended in March 2025 by the Senate resolution over alleged misconduct following a spat with the Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangement during plenary in the Red Chamber.

The letter stated that the Senate would only review her suspension after the court’s final pronouncement.

“The matter, therefore, remains subjudice, and until the judicial process is concluded and the Senate formally reviews the suspension in the light of the court’s pronouncement, no administrative action can be taken by this office to facilitate your resumption,” the letter by the Ag. CNA to Akpoti-Uduaghan read.

He added that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan “will be duly notified of the Senate’s decision on the matter as soon as it is resolved.”

A CALL TO ACTION FOR TRADITIONAL RULERS IN EDO NORTH

2ND SEPTEMBER, 2025

POWERED BY: COMRADE PASSWORD

The CEO of Password News Media, Comrade Abdulrasheed Adogamhe, has appeal to traditional rulers in Edo North, urging them to take a proactive stance in addressing the growing insecurity in the region. According to him, these leaders are uniquely positioned to drive meaningful change in their communities by coming together and synergizing their efforts.

Comrade Adogamhe emphasized the importance of traditional rulers holding joint meetings to discuss strategies and share best practices in tackling insecurity. By pooling their collective wisdom and resources, they can develop a comprehensive plan to enhance security in Edo North. This collaborative approach will enable them to identify and address the root causes of insecurity, rather than just treating the symptoms.

After joint meetings, each traditional ruler should return to their community and engage with their people. They should hold meetings with community members to raise awareness about the importance of security and involve them in the planning process. This will foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among community members, encouraging them to take an active role in maintaining security.

Traditional rulers can play a crucial role in raising funds and mobilizing resources to support security initiatives. They can leverage their influence and networks to secure support from philanthropists, organizations, and government agencies. These funds can be used to implement security projects, such as community policing initiatives or infrastructure development.

One specific area of focus should be combating the overgrowth of bushes and encroaching vegetation in the region. These areas can provide hiding spots for criminals, making it easier for them to operate. By clearing these bushes and vegetation, traditional rulers can help reduce the opportunities for criminal activities.

Traditional rulers can also promote community policing initiatives, where community members work together with security agencies to maintain law and order. This approach has been effective in other regions and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of Edo North.

By working together and engaging with their communities, traditional rulers can help build trust and confidence in security efforts. This will encourage community members to report suspicious activity and cooperate with security agencies, ultimately leading to a safer and more secure environment.

Comrade Adogamhe call to action is a timely reminder of the critical role traditional rulers can play in shaping the security landscape of Edo North.
