Nigeria Becomes the Next Target" – General Musa Raises Alarm Over Sahel Instability

Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has raised urgent alarms over the worsening security crisis in the Sahel, cautioning that if instability in the region persists, Nigeria could be the next to suffer serious fallout. Speaking in a video shared by TV Platinum, the General highlighted the deteriorating situations in Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso, describing them as dangerously close to collapse.

“The Sahel is burning. Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso are experiencing severe instability. If we don’t intervene and they continue down this path, I fear that within six months to a year, these states could collapse—and once that happens, Nigeria becomes the next target,” General Musa warned.

He emphasized that extremist groups and armed militias are exploiting the vacuum left by weak governance, posing a direct threat to the region’s stability. Experts echo his concerns, pointing to rising arms trafficking, cross-border terrorism, and displaced populations spilling into Nigeria. Musa urged swift, united regional and international action to prevent the chaos from spilling into Nigerian territory.

Political Rhetoric in Delta State: Ugbo Warns Against Derogatory Remarks Amid Party Defections.

By Dominion Steve Buzugbe, De-Crown King Media.

Following the mass defection of several Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, political tensions have escalated, fuelled by what some describe as inflammatory and derogatory rhetoric from certain political actors.

Barrister Sam Ugbo, a concerned stakeholder, has raised alarm over the rising use of provocative language by some defectors and their supporters. According to Ugbo, phrases such as “we have come to take over the party” and similar expressions not only display insensitivity but also have the potential to incite division, hatred, and unrest within the political space.

“These utterances are disastrous and barbaric in nature,” Ugbo stated, criticizing what he termed as “loquacious tendencies” employed by some party faithfuls in their bid for popularity, especially at grassroots political gatherings.

He expressed disappointment that many respected PDP leaders have remained silent in the face of such rhetoric. Ugbo warned that this silence could be misconstrued as endorsement of divisive behaviour, thereby deepening existing political fault lines.

He emphasized that politics should foster unity and harmony, not enmity and exclusion. “When you visit a community, the first step should be to understand and respect the traditions and values of the people. You don’t enter a house you did not build and declare you have come to take over,” Ugbo remarked.

He cautioned the new members and supporters of the APC to be mindful of their utterances, noting that such language could provoke strong reactions from the original party stalwarts and deepen the divide within the state’s political landscape.

Ugbo further stated that many of those who have joined the APC might not yet fully understand the inner workings and foundational values of their new political home. As such, declaring dominance or making conquest-like proclamations is not only premature but counterproductive.

“This is not the time for hasty declarations of political conquest. It’s a time for reflection, strategy, and understanding,” he added.

He warned that the embers of discord currently being fanned in some quarters could derail the progress of both parties and called for caution. “We must tread carefully. Nation-building thrives on mutual respect and understanding, not on hostility and inflammatory speech.”

Ugbo concluded with a strong appeal to political actors in Delta State to exercise restraint and wisdom in their public statements. “Whatever you think you know, others may know better. Let us be guided, especially in light of the recent political realignments. Otherwise, the true owners of the structure may soon remind us of the rules of engagement.”

Ebie: Championing Grassroots Development through Infrastructure

By Dominion Steve Buzugbe, De-Crown Media communications.

In a time when rural communities across Nigeria continue to yearn for meaningful development, Barr. Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), is steadily emerging as a beacon of hope, particularly in Delta State, where his commitment to infrastructural advancement is making tangible impact.

The recent delivery of electricity transformers to Owa-Oyibu Community in Ika North East Local Government Area stands as yet another testament to his dedication to grassroots empowerment. The transformers, supplied under the NDDC’s Rural Electrification Project, were received with joy and gratitude by residents who have long battled unreliable power supply. This intervention is set to improve electricity distribution, stimulate local businesses, and enhance the quality of life in the community.

Among those who lauded the initiative was Engr. Christian Ajabor, popularly known as Melody, a respected leader of the Delta Unity Group (DUG) in Ward 1. Engr. Ajabor was on ground to receive the transformers before the arrival of Barr. Ebie and was personally recognized by the NDDC Chairman for his leadership role.

Speaking at the event, Engr. Ajabor expressed deep appreciation, saying:
“Barr. Ebie’s gesture is not just about infrastructure; it is about care, vision, and action. His leadership at NDDC reflects a new wave of results-driven governance. We in Ward 1 and Owa-Oyibu are grateful for this transformational support and are encouraged by his commitment to developing our rural areas.”

Indeed, Ebie’s leadership has been characterized by an emphasis on impactful, community-focused projects, cutting across power, roads, water, and youth empowerment. His understanding of local needs and timely responses have endeared him to many, especially at the grassroots level where development is most urgently needed.

The electrification project is part of a broader infrastructure rollout strategy by the NDDC under his guidance, one that prioritizes neglected communities and strengthens the commission’s mission to foster sustainable regional growth.

Community members, traditional leaders, and political stakeholders present at the transformer handover also praised Ebie for his accessibility, responsiveness, and consistency. For many, his actions reaffirm the possibility of responsive governance that listens and delivers.

As Delta State continues to grapple with infrastructural gaps, Barr. Ebie is showing that leadership, when fused with vision and action, can light up not just communities, but hopes.

A Bridge Builder in a Divided Time: The Story of Barr. Chiedu Ebie’s Quiet Impact.

By Dominion Steve Buzugbe

In a country often weighed down by religious and ethnic divides, gestures of genuine unity stand out like rays of light through heavy clouds. One such gesture recently unfolded in the heart of Delta State, where Barr. Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), chose to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir not with ceremony or fanfare, but with action rooted in compassion and inclusion.

Long before he assumed his role at the NDDC, Ebie had already earned a reputation as a leader who listens, who reaches out, and who delivers. But this year’s Eid celebration in Ika Land has drawn fresh attention to his leadership style. He is quiet, yet powerful; strategic, yet deeply personal.

With the Muslim faithful preparing for one of the most significant Islamic festivals, Ebie mobilized resources and ensured that food items—bags of rice, kegs of oil, and live rams—were distributed to both the Yoruba and Hausa communities. There were no loud political statements. Just a clear message: “You matter. You are seen. You are not forgotten.”

This wasn’t a photo-op. It was a continuation of a pattern. The items were handed out by trusted aides—Hon. Hilary Fada Ibude, the APC Chairman in Ika South, and Hon. Evelyn Efeh, his personal assistant —people who, like their principal, understand the value of humility and service.

Community leaders spoke with unforced gratitude. Alhaji Ibrahim Ghali, Sarki Hausawa, didn’t mince words. He called Ebie “a beacon of change and progress in Nigeria,” and pointed to a history of support from both Ebie and Hon. Ibude, including the donation of a borehole and generator to a local mosque.

That’s the thing about Barr. Ebie—he doesn’t drop in during elections and disappear afterward. His connection with the community is steady and consistent, grounded not just in politics, but in principle.

For Hon. Efeh, the message is simple: “My boss believes in building bridges, not walls. His leadership is about people first, irrespective of religion, tribe, or background.”

In a region as diverse as the Niger Delta, where identity politics can easily turn toxic, leaders like Barr. Ebie remind us of what is possible when empathy guides action. His Eid-el-Kabir outreach was more than charity, it was a symbol of the Nigeria many still hope for. A Nigeria where leadership uplifts, not divides.

Across Ika land, one truth remains clear; Barr. Chiedu Ebie is not just a chairman, he is a connector of hearts, a unifier of people, and above all, a servant of the public good.

And in today’s world, that may be the kind of leadership we need the most.
