: Isaac Fayose Counters Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo Remarks on Second Term Ambitions
Popular political commentator, Isaac Fayose, has strongly disagreed with Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, over recent comments suggesting that any politician who opts out of seeking a second term requires a "brain check."
Responding to Soludo’s statement, Fayose referenced global icon Nelson Mandela, noting that the former South African president chose to serve only one term despite public calls for him to continue in office.
“There was a man, Nelson Mandela. He did just one term. The second term they said, ‘Leader, come and lead us,’ and he said, ‘No, I am weak, but my spirit is with you. Let someone else lead.’ It’s not everyone that wants to lead for eight years. Eight years of no future,” Fayose remarked.
The disagreement has sparked further debate on leadership tenure and political ambition in Nigeria.
