I Will Champion Oborevwori’s Re-election in 2027 — Dr. Hilary Ibegbulem

The Principal Secretary to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Hilary Obi Ibegbulem, has pledged to actively champion the re-election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in 2027, citing the governor’s outstanding performance since assuming office.

Dr. Ibegbulem made the pledge at the Agbor venue of the groundbreaking ceremony for the Uromi Junction Flyover project being executed by the Delta State Government.

He noted that while some skeptics doubted Governor Oborevwori’s capacity to lead following his emergence in 2023, the governor has since proven his critics wrong through purposeful leadership anchored on the MORE Agenda, which has driven remarkable transformation across all sectors of the state’s economy.

According to him, Delta State has outpaced many other states in human capital development and infrastructure delivery, stressing that Governor Oborevwori has justified the confidence reposed in him by turning virtually every part of the state into an active construction site.

Dr. Ibegbulem expressed confidence that the governor’s re-election in 2027 would be seamless, given the widespread impact of his policies and projects on the lives of Deltans.

Speaking on the Uromi Junction Flyover project, which is being handled by construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria Limited, Dr. Ibegbulem said the project would permanently address the long-standing issues of traffic congestion and frequent road accidents at the busy junction, while also improving connectivity between Agbor and other parts of the country.

He further commended the resolve of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to partner with the Delta State Government in rehabilitating the Agbor–Abavo–Obiaruku–Eku Expressway, noting that the initiative would revive economic activities along the corridor and significantly boost development in Ika land.

Dr. Ibegbulem called on Deltans to continue to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) administrations at both the state and federal levels, stressing that sustained support would accelerate all-round development across Delta State.

APC Commends Oborevwori’s Infrastructure Drive, Hails Purposeful Leadership in Delta

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has lauded Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for what it described as purposeful leadership and sustained delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the state.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, the ruling party applauded the governor for performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, on Monday, January 19, 2026.

The project, awarded to construction giant Julius Berger at a cost of ₦59.7 billion, is expected to be completed within 14 months.

According to the APC, the Agbor flyover addresses a long-standing safety concern at a notorious interchange that has claimed numerous lives through frequent road accidents over the years.

The party noted that the project fulfills the long-held aspirations of the people of Agbor and Ika Nation for decisive government intervention.

While acknowledging Agbor as the immediate beneficiary, the APC emphasized that the flyover holds national significance, given its strategic location linking major routes to Nigeria’s East, West, North and South-South regions.

The party said the project would ease traffic congestion, enhance security, boost economic activity and improve the overall wellbeing of commuters and residents.

The party further highlighted that the Agbor ceremony came barely a week after the governor flagged off the ₦39.3 billion Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area.

With ongoing projects at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout and Enerhen Junction, the APC noted that five flyovers are currently under construction across Delta State, underscoring the administration’s resolve to expand urban infrastructure and improve living standards.

Beyond road infrastructure, the APC praised the governor’s MORE Agenda—Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms and Enhanced peace and security, citing interventions such as the clearance of pension and gratuity backlogs, investments in human capital development, monthly stipends for 10,000 widows, MSME recapitalisation in partnership with the Bank of Industry, improved funding for tertiary institutions, and the acquisition of advanced diagnostic equipment for state hospitals.

The party also acknowledged Governor Oborevwori’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that improved federal allocations to sub-national governments have strengthened the state’s capacity to deliver dividends of democracy. It recalled that in April 2025,

Oborevwori led the entire structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State into the APC, a move it said inspired other opposition governors to support the president’s economic reforms.

The Agbor groundbreaking ceremony attracted dignitaries from within and outside the state, including Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme; former Governor of Delta State and South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; the Dein of Agbor, His Royal Majesty Benjamin Ikechukwu, Keagborekuzi I; the member representing Ika Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Victor Nwokolo; APC National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, CON; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu; and several lawmakers and government officials. The Executive Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Jerry Ehiwarior, served as chief host.

The APC urged the governor to sustain his commitment to people-oriented governance, commending what it described as the impactful deployment of state resources in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda for the benefit of all Deltans.

Today, key infrastructure and industrial projects across Delta State were inspected by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Engr. Goodnews Agbi, beginning with the Aboh–Akarai Road project, including the construction of a bridge across the Okiri River.

At the Kwale Free Trade Zone, Engr. Agbi inspected a number of gas processing facilities, as well as Delta Wire Industries, an iron and steel production company in which the Delta State Government holds a 20 per cent equity stake.

The exercise concluded at the Asaba–Ase Bridge project, a major intervention aimed at improving connectivity and easing transportation in surrounding communities.

Speaking during the inspection, Engr. Agbi said the projects demonstrate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth, noting that the pace and quality of work align with the administration’s development agenda.
