CONGRATULATIONS TO SENATOR NED NWOKO AND THE GOOD PEOPLE OF ANIOCHA NORTH CONSTITUENCY II

ANIOCHA NORTH CONSTITUENCY II: JUSTICE DELIVERED AFTER 32 YEARS

Today, I celebrate a historic victory for democracy, constitutionalism, and the resilient people of Aniocha North Constituency II.

For over three decades, the communities that make up Aniocha North Constituency II lived with an injustice that should never have persisted in a democratic society. A constituency lawfully created in 1991 and operational from 1992 was effectively erased from the electoral map following the military interruption of democratic governance in 1993. When democracy returned in 1999, the constituency was not restored, leaving thousands of citizens without the representation guaranteed to them under our Constitution.

The people of the Idumuje and Odiani clans, comprising Idumuje Unor, Idumuje Ugboko, Aniofu, Nkwu Nzu, Ugboba, Ugbodu, Idumuogo, Ubulubu, Ogodor and Anioma, refused to surrender their rights. They embarked on a long and difficult journey through the courts, seeking nothing more than justice and the restoration of their legitimate voice in government.

Their struggle was marked by setbacks, disappointments, and years of waiting. Even after obtaining favourable judgments from the Court of Appeal and ultimately the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2019, implementation remained frustratingly absent. The highest court in the land had spoken, yet the people continued to wait.

When I assumed office as Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, I considered it my duty to intervene. Democracy is weakened when lawful judicial decisions are ignored. The rule of law becomes meaningless when citizens must wait endlessly for rights already affirmed by the courts.

It was against this backdrop that I sponsored the motion on the floor of the Senate titled “Restoration of Aniocha North II State Constituency Pursuant to Supreme Court Judgment.” The objective was simple but profound: to ensure compliance with the judgment of the Supreme Court and to restore to the people what had been unjustly denied to them for decades.

The Senate unanimously recognized the importance of this matter and resolved that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should comply fully with the judgment and restore the constituency without further delay. The motion also highlighted a broader national concern regarding constituencies affected by similar circumstances across the country.

Today, I am pleased that the efforts of the Senate, combined with the persistence of the affected communities and stakeholders, have yielded positive results. INEC has now directed political parties to conduct primaries in the restored constituencies ahead of the 2027 elections. This marks a decisive step toward the full restoration of Aniocha North Constituency II.

This achievement belongs first and foremost to the people. It belongs to the traditional rulers who remained steadfast. It belongs to the community leaders who never abandoned the cause. It belongs to the legal advocates who pursued justice through every available channel. It belongs to the men, women, and youths who continued to believe that one day their voices would once again be heard.

The restoration of Aniocha North Constituency II is more than an electoral adjustment. It is the reaffirmation of a fundamental democratic principle that every community deserves fair representation and equal participation in governance.

As we look toward the future, I urge all stakeholders to embrace this victory with unity, responsibility, and renewed commitment to the development of our communities. Let this moment serve as a reminder that persistence, lawful engagement, and collective determination can overcome even the longest standing injustices.

I remain committed to protecting the interests of our people, strengthening democratic institutions, and ensuring that no community within Delta North is denied its constitutional rights.

After 32 years, justice has prevailed.

After 32 years, representation has returned.

After 32 years, the people of Aniocha North Constituency II can finally look to the future with renewed hope and confidence.

This is a victory for our people.

This is a victory for democracy.

This is a victory for the rule of law.

BREAKING: EFCC and INEC Move to Strengthen Electoral Integrity Ahead of 2027

June 11, 2026

The proposed collaboration between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent National Electoral Commission is a welcome development if it is genuinely aimed at safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria's electoral process and curbing the influence of illicit funds in politics.

However, credibility will depend not on announcements but on transparency, accountability, and impartial enforcement. Nigerians have become increasingly concerned about the selective application of anti-corruption measures, particularly when investigations and prosecutions appear concentrated on opposition figures while allegations involving members of the ruling All Progressives Congress receive little or no attention.

For this partnership to inspire public confidence ahead of the 2027 elections, the anti-corruption and electoral integrity test must begin within the ranks of the ruling party as well. Any scrutiny of campaign financing, vote-buying, abuse of state resources, or electoral misconduct should be applied uniformly across all political parties and candidates, regardless of political affiliation.

The true measure of this collaboration will not be how many opposition politicians are investigated, but whether the law is enforced fairly, transparently, and without fear or favour. Only then can Nigerians believe that the initiative is designed to protect democracy rather than serve as a political weapon against perceived opponents.

NED NWOKO'S BILL TO MAKE CPR, FIRST AID TRAINING COMPULSORY PASSES FIRST READING IN SENATE

The Nigerian Senate has commenced consideration of a landmark bill sponsored by Senator Prince Ned Nwoko (Delta North) aimed at making life-saving emergency response training compulsory across the country.

The proposed legislation, which successfully passed its first reading and was listed as SB.1043, seeks to ensure that Nigerians acquire basic skills in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in homes, schools, workplaces, and public institutions.

A key feature of the bill is the proposed adoption of Good Samaritan Laws, designed to protect citizens who voluntarily assist victims during emergencies from legal liability. The measure is expected to encourage prompt intervention in critical situations where immediate action can mean the difference between life and death.

According to the bill's explanatory memorandum, many fatalities arising from sudden cardiac arrests and other medical emergencies occur because bystanders lack the knowledge, confidence, or legal protection needed to provide urgent assistance before professional medical personnel arrive.

If enacted, the legislation would embed emergency response preparedness into Nigeria's constitutional framework, expand access to certified life-saving training, and strengthen community capacity to respond effectively during emergencies.

FeedbackTeamOfficial reports that the bill reflects Senator Ned Nwoko's continued legislative efforts toward advancing public health, safety, and citizen welfare through proactive policy initiatives.

CONTRADICTIONS IN THE OYO SCHOOL KIDNAPPING CASE

Two different accounts have emerged regarding the demands of the kidnappers holding Oyo school pupils and teachers.

While the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly disclosed claims that the abductors were demanding money, weapons, and concessions on future Sharia law, he also maintained that the state government would never bow to such demands if they were indeed made by the kidnappers.

However, the Head Teacher has publicly refuted those claims from the kidnappers' den. According to her, the abductors are not demanding Sharia law, weapons, or money. She stated that their primary demand is the release of their members currently in government custody.

DON'T SHIFT THE GOALPOST: NDOKWA'S DEMAND IS PHASE 2 STEP-DOWN

The recent vandalism of electricity installations in Okpai is condemnable and those responsible should be identified, arrested, and prosecuted. No responsible Ndokwa son or daughter supports the destruction of public infrastructure meant to serve our communities.

However, it is important that this unfortunate incident does not become a convenient distraction from the central demand of the Ndokwa people, the completion and activation of the Phase 2 Step-Down Project. The issue of vandalism in a particular community should not be used as a blanket excuse for the prolonged failure to provide a lasting electricity solution to the entire Ndokwa Nation.

For years, Ndokwa people have consistently demanded the Phase 2 Step-Down Project because it remains the most practical and sustainable solution to the electricity challenges facing our communities. The fact that criminals vandalized electricity facilities in one area does not reduce the urgency of this demand. Instead of shifting public attention, stakeholders and government officials should focus on delivering the project that has the capacity to transform the economic and social fortunes of the region.

It is also unfair to suggest that the actions of a few criminal elements represent the attitude of the entire Ndokwa people. Thousands of residents, youths, women, community leaders, and concerned citizens have continued to advocate peacefully for improved electricity supply and infrastructural development. Their legitimate demands should not be overshadowed by the criminal activities of a handful of individuals.

The governor's position should therefore not be hastily justified solely on the basis of this latest incident. While vandalism remains a serious concern that affected communities must address decisively, the broader conversation must return to the unanswered question: What is the current status of the Phase 2 Step-Down Project, and when will it be delivered to the people?

Ndokwa Nation deserves both the protection of existing infrastructure and the completion of critical development projects. One should not be used as an excuse for neglecting the other. The call remains unchanged and as urgent as ever: deliver the Phase 2 Step-Down Project and provide the lasting electricity solution that Ndokwa people have demanded for years.

Until that is done, every attempt to divert attention from the Phase 2 Step-Down Project will rightly be seen by many as a shift from the real issue confronting Ndokwa Nation.

DELTA NORTH APC PRIMARY: NWOKO INSISTS DELEGATES' MANDATE MUST BE RESPECTED

June 8, 2026

Senator Ned Nwoko has maintained that the outcome of the Delta North APC Senatorial Primary accurately reflects the will of party delegates who participated in the exercise, stressing that the democratic choice of the people should not be undermined by subsequent declarations or political maneuvers.

In a statement released following controversies surrounding the primary election, the senator stated that the exercise was conducted in accordance with the constitution and guidelines of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He noted that accredited delegates from across the senatorial district freely exercised their voting rights, producing an outcome that represented the collective decision of party members.

According to Nwoko, democracy derives its legitimacy from due process, transparency, and respect for the votes cast by eligible participants. He argued that no announcement or individual declaration can supersede the lawful outcome of a properly conducted primary election.

The senator expressed confidence that the party's internal mechanisms and constitutional procedures would ultimately uphold the integrity of the electoral process. He reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Delta North, describing their support as a source of inspiration for his vision of progress, justice, and inclusive development.

While urging supporters to remain calm and peaceful, Nwoko called on them to place their trust in the institutions responsible for ensuring fairness within the party. He emphasized the need to avoid actions that could threaten unity or disrupt the democratic process.

Concluding his remarks, the senator described the mandate freely given by delegates as sacred and deserving of protection, expressing optimism that justice would prevail and that the wishes of the people would ultimately be respected.

WHEN I FIRST SAW THIS AIRCRAFT, I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO DELIVER RELIEF MATERIALS TO BANDITS.

Many Nigerians may understand this sentiment. For years, citizens have watched helplessly as bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements appeared to operate with little resistance, while innocent communities remained under siege.

That is why the latest development from Oyo State comes as a welcome surprise.

The Nigerian Air Force has deployed surveillance aircraft to support efforts aimed at rescuing teachers and schoolchildren abducted from Yawota and Ahoro-Esinele communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to Governor Seyi Makinde, the aerial surveillance operation is part of an ongoing collaboration between security agencies and the Oyo State Government to track the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the victims.

For many citizens, this is the kind of swift and coordinated response they have long expected whenever innocent Nigerians are abducted. The deployment of air assets demonstrates that when there is determination, technology and intelligence can be brought to bear against criminal networks.

The rescue of the abducted teachers and pupils should now be the priority. Nigerians will be hoping that the surveillance mission produces actionable intelligence that leads security forces directly to the kidnappers and ensures the victims return home safely.

The question many citizens will continue to ask is simple: if such capabilities exist today, why have criminals been allowed to terrorize communities for so long?

For now, however, every effort that increases the chances of rescuing these innocent children and their teachers deserves support.
