AMPrac President, Ifeanyi Azodo, Graces Nollywood Creative Designers First Ever Induction At Asaba

Penultimate Monday, November 18, 2024, the Nollywood Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) hosted its first ever induction ceremony of new members in their 22 years of corporate existence.

The event which attracted dignitaries from across the nation held at Benizia Hotel Asaba with the theme: "Wings to Fly".

CDGN which styles itself as the creative power of Nollywood, and led nationally by its indefatigable President, Pastor (Mrs) Joy Osawaru Akinyemi delivered a well organized outing, with Ifeanyi Azodo as Special Guest.

Speaking to pressmen at the event, Comrade Ifeanyi Azodo, national President of Association of Movie Practitioners (AMPrac) talked about a conscientious rebranding of the filmmaking industry, the need for proper legislations and funding, and the role of CDGN in developing the industry.

According to him, "Guilds and Associations in Nollywood need to be particular about self rebranding in order to meet up with international standards, and to achieve more positive marks in filmmaking.

"It's not exactly right that individuals and private organizations determine or fund the growth of Nollywood. This makes organization and regulation of the industry difficult; leading to several unwanted and unavoidable consequences most times.

"The government needs to step in and come to the rescue of the Nollywood industry" He said.

"I commend the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria as a sister guild now carrying out its activities in the right manner.

"I encourage them to keep the flag flying and maintain the tempo they working with right now, as a lot of practitioners look up to them to bring their sets to live."

Giving a keynote speech at the event, Dr. Shaibu Husseini (ED/CEO, National Film and Video Censors Board) clarified the role of censorship in the industry. He reiterated the need for a unified industry, and stated that regardless of dissenting voices in that creative arts branch of Nollywood, the CDGN had not only merited licensure based on its track records and meeting requirements, but has been duly approved and awarded renewed federal recognition by the Censors Board due to its national appeal and acceptability.

Indeed, the event was a funfilled formal outing, chiefly put together by CDGN Delta State, the Chief Host, under the leadership of Comrade Ajemba Stanley Ontop, Chairman Steering Committee CDGN Delta State.

Other dignified personalities at the colourful event included among several: the anchor of the new members' induction and oath-taking session, Barr. Kenneth Ugochukwu Ibeanusi (President of Association of Nigeria Movie Directors), and Pastor Deji Ibikunle (Senior Pastor of Doers Assembly Int'l, Awada Branch), who led the spiritual sessions of the event.

Other celebrities who graced the event include: the legendary actor and DGN film director, Chief Ugezu J. Ugezu (Ayaka), and Chuma Mmeka (T-char), actor and producer, who is also Chairman of AMPrac Delta State.
