William Troost-Ekong has weighed in on one of Nigerian football’s most hotly debated topics — who is the Greatest Of All Time [G.O.A.T] to ever don the green and white jersey of the Super Eagles?
Traditionally, any conversation around Nigeria’s all-time greats quickly draws the names of Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha⚽⚽⚽⚽ and Nwankwo Kanu, icons of the 1990s golden generation.
With their dazzling skills and trophy-laden careers, both legends were instrumental during Nigeria’s glory years — winning the Africa Cup of Nations, Olympic gold, and qualifying for three consecutive World Cups.
But Troost-Ekong, who currently captains the national team, believes it’s time to look beyond nostalgia and consider the incredible talents of the current era.
