A LIFE OF GRACE, A LEGACY OF LIGHT:
A TRIBUTE TO REV. MRS. JOY YESIDE ABIOYE ONYEMEBISIOGOR EBEIFENADI (NEE MARTINS)
My lovely sister,
It is still difficult to come to terms with your passing. You were not just my elder sister, but my beloved shining role model, my mentor, and a constant source of strength and encouragement to me.
You were dignity personified—a virtuous woman, an embodiment of kindness, strength, faith, generosity, and resilience. Ever respectful, loving unconditionally, and a true encourager, your life was a shining example of what it means to live for Christ and to be in Christ.
I will always cherish the year we spent together in Jos, Plateau State, before you graduated. During that time, I watched closely as you taught me how to live the Christian life in practical terms. You consistently emphasized the need to be the light and an example of the believer. I remember how you would stand watch at night, praying—committed, disciplined, and devoted.
Even away from home and far from our parents, you kept yourself, chose your company wisely, and lived with purpose. Those moments made me so proud of you and strengthened my admiration for you as someone I could always look up to.
You have always been there for me—supportive, encouraging, and guiding me in life and ministry. Your words were gracious, filled with life and wisdom beyond your years. Your influence on my journey is profound and enduring.
Your impact in my family is one we will never forget. Your love for my wife and children was deep and unconditional—you embraced them as your own, and your presence in our lives will forever be cherished.
Even among us, your siblings, your tender love, your sacrifices, and the beautiful memories we shared will remain in our hearts for a lifetime.
You loved the Lord with the totality of your being. You were a woman of great faith, passionate about beautifying the house of God, honouring men of God, and giving selflessly. Your love for the children’s ministry was remarkable. You loved children deeply and empowered many lives, giving people platforms to rise and become all that God had called them to be.
Sis, I have always believed that it is not how or when a believer falls asleep in the Lord that truly matters, but whether the believer is rapturable. Today, my consolation is this: you are with the Lord, resting in His bosom.
The last words I heard from you were, “I love you,” and those words continue to echo in my heart.
I love you too, Sis…
I love you plenty…
Good night, my beloved shining role model. Rest well, Sis—you will always live in my heart.
God be with you till we meet again.
