When God called out to him from a burning bush, Moses had a long list of reasons why God had picked the wrong man. Here’s how the Bible records that conversation: [God said] “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:10–12) Notice first, God tells Moses to “go . . . ” To get moving, “now.” Then God reveals Moses’ amazing future to him. An assignment that involved leading God’s people out of bo***ge in Egypt. And Moses’ response to that startling news was, “Who am I . . . ?” That’s the same type of question we often ask when God puts dreams and promises in our hearts that seem over our head. We get a glimpse of the amazing destinies and plans He has for us and, if we’re not careful, immediately disqualify ourselves. It’s interesting how God responded to Moses. He didn’t fault him or condemn him for not thinking he could do it. He simply said, “I will be with you.”
