Okpebholo Tasks New Uwanno Monarch on Unity, Development

✒️Ikharo Seluman | Auchi, Edo State

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has urged the newly crowned Okumagbe of Uwanno Kingdom, Senator Francis Asekhame Alimikhena, to use his wealth of experience to foster unity, peace and sustainable development in the kingdom.

Okpebholo made the call on Saturday at the coronation ceremony of Alimikhena, describing his ascension to the throne as a historic moment for Uwanno and its people.

The governor noted that the new monarch brought to the traditional institution decades of public service experience, including two terms as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He said Alimikhena’s experience in leadership, governance and community development would be invaluable in his new role, urging him to lead with wisdom, humility, fairness and an open heart.

“As the Okumagbe, you are now the father of all. I therefore urge Your Highness to govern with wisdom, humility, fairness, and an open heart. Please carry everyone along and ensure that no son or daughter of Uwanno feels left behind,” Okpebholo said.

The governor also called on the people of Uwanno Kingdom to support the new monarch, set aside their differences and unite behind efforts to advance the kingdom.

“The strength of any kingdom lies in the unity of its people. Where there is unity, there is peace, and where there is peace, there is progress,” he said.

Also speaking, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, congratulated Alimikhena and commended his contributions to the development of his people and Edo State.

Oshiomhole prayed for God’s continued blessings and wisdom for the new monarch as he assumes his traditional responsibilities.
In his remarks, Alimikhena described his coronation as a new beginning and a turning point for Uwanno Kingdom, pledging to usher in an era of peace, love and development.
“It is a new dawn, an era of peace, love, and development,” he said.

The new monarch also announced plans to establish the Uwanno Development Fund (UDF), a platform he said would mobilise resources for the overall development of Uwanno Kingdom.

He expressed confidence that collective efforts and unity among the people would provide the foundation for a more prosperous and peaceful Uwanno.

A Pillar of Dawah Has Fallen: DMEF Mourns Shaka Abdulwahab

✒️Ikharo Seluman

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn.

Some departures leave an emptiness that words struggle to express.

The passing of Chairman Shaka Abdulwahab is one of such painful moments for Auchi Sacred Kingdom, the Dawah Movement & Enlightenment Forum (DMEF 1–6) and all who knew him.

Chairman Abdulwahab was more than the chairman of the movement.

He was a committed servant of Dawah, a dependable leader and a man whose presence, counsel and dedication became deeply woven into the life of DMEF.

He served with sincerity and a genuine sense of responsibility. He did not treat the affairs of Dawah with levity.

Whenever his presence was required, he gave his time, energy, wisdom and support to the cause, often without seeking recognition or praise.

His was a quiet but meaningful contribution, a life of service expressed through commitment, participation and an enduring concern for the growth of Dawah.

Now, the movement is left to confront the painful reality of his absence. The chair he occupied may remain, but the familiar presence that gave life to it is gone.

DMEF gatherings will continue. Dawah programmes will be held. Discussions will take place. Yet, for those who knew him, something will forever be missing.

His voice will be missed. His counsel will be missed. His presence will be missed.

And perhaps most of all, the passion with which he served the cause of Dawah will be missed.

There are people whose departure creates an ordinary vacancy, and there are those whose departure leaves a void. Abdulwahab belongs to the latter.

He leaves behind not only a position, but a legacy of service.

The people he encouraged, the activities he supported, the wisdom he shared and the good works to which he contributed are lasting reminders of a life that touched the movement in meaningful ways.

For DMEF 1–6, therefore, mourning Abdulwahab is not merely about grieving the loss of a chairman. It is about remembering a brother, a father, a leader and a devoted servant of Allah who gave a significant part of himself to the cause of Dawah.

His physical journey has ended, but the footprints he left behind remains and while grief may make his absence painful today, time will turn his memories into a treasured part of the movement's history.

For his family, the loss is deeply personal. For DMEF, it is a collective wound. For everyone who knew and worked with him, it is a solemn reminder of the temporary nature of life and the certainty of returning to our Creator.

We therefore submit to the decree of Allah and pray thee, Ya Allah, forgive Your servant, Shaka Abdulwahab.

Have mercy upon him, pardon his shortcomings and accept his sincere efforts in the cause of Dawah.

Reward him for every good deed he performed and every person he inspired towards righteousness.

Let his contributions to Dawah become a source of Ṣadaqah Jāriyah for him.

Illuminate his grave with Your Noor, widen it and make it a place of peace and tranquillity.

Make his grave a garden from the gardens of Jannah and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus al-A‘lā without punishment or reckoning.

May Allah grant his family, the leadership and members of DMEF 1–6, and all who mourn him Ṣabr Jameel and the strength to bear this irreparable loss.

May the good he stood for, the people he touched and the legacy of service he leaves behind continue to speak for him.

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn.

Allahumma’ghfir lahu warhamhu, wa ‘āfihi wa‘fu ‘anhu.

May Allah forgive him, have mercy upon him and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

Āmīn, Yā Rabbal ‘Ālamīn.

WHEN THE CHAIR BECOMES EMPTY

If only those in high places would remember that they are mortal.

If only the man behind the convoy would remember that the road will one day continue without him.

If only the politician whose name opens every door would remember that one day, he too will knock.

Perhaps power would humble him.
Perhaps wealth would not intoxicate him.
Perhaps titles would not deceive him.
Because no chair is permanent.

The office remains. The occupant passes.

Obasanjo came.

Yar’Adua came.

Jonathan came.

Buhari came.

And another man sits in the chair today.

The chair remained. The men passed through.

That is the truth every powerful man must never forget.

You do not own the chair. You are only passing through it.

Tinubu Approves Up to 80% Salary Increase for Nigerian Armed Forces Personnel

✒️ Ikharo Seluman | Abuja, Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has approved a new salary structure for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, with pay increases ranging from 30 to 80 per cent in what the Presidency described as a major step toward enhancing troop welfare and boosting national security.

The salary review, which takes effect from September 1, 2026, will benefit approximately 250,000 military personnel across all ranks.

Under the approved structure, officers above the rank of Colonel—including Brigadier Generals, Major Generals, Lieutenant Generals and Generals—will receive a 30 per cent salary increase. Personnel from Colonel down to Warrant Officer will enjoy a 50 per cent increase, while soldiers from Private to Staff Sergeant will receive an 80 per cent salary increment.

The Presidency said the new remuneration package will raise the Armed Forces' annual wage bill from ₦660 billion to ₦924 billion.

President Tinubu said the salary adjustment reflects his administration's commitment to rewarding the courage, sacrifice and patriotism of members of the Armed Forces who continue to confront terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats across the country.

"The men and women who help to keep us safe in our homes must be supported and appreciated in the course of their duties to our nation," the President said.

He added that his administration would continue to prioritise the welfare of troops while investing in modern weapons, equipment and technology to strengthen the operational capacity of the military.

Tinubu further reaffirmed his administration's determination to mobilise all military and law enforcement assets to eliminate security threats and safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians.

The approval was announced in a State House press release issued on Tuesday by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
